Hi all, Does anyone use this software (allkara, turingkara etc) from SwissEduc - Computer Science - TuringKara: two-dimensional Turing machines ? I cannot make the thing work - it's a Java applet that will not load beyond 88%. Infuriating and I'd really like to use it with our AS/A2 students! Any ideas? Jim

How many schools are actively using Fronter? We keep coming across technical issues and each time it feels like we are the only school that has ever had the problem. It's not like we're trying to do anything particularly odd, so we can't really work out why we appear to be the first to flag up the issue.

Haven't tried VirtualBox , but we HAVE tried a linux VM running in VMware player and Micro$oft Virtual PC - our lessons are only 35 minutes and after logging into CC3, then starting a VM, then loading the SW we don't have enough time to do anything useful. Jim -
Probably a silly question, but most of the programming environments that we would like to use give students unacceptable access to the C: drive and other areas. This is a problem for our technicians, because as a teacher of AS/A2 computing I need my students to be able to program at school. We have one great big CC3 network and no "safe" rooms. Where do we go from here? Jim

Hi, I'm new to edugeek so I'm sorry if this has been asked before. One of my colleagues visited a local school and saw that they had the student's usernames displayed on the desktop of their CC3 machines. How is this possible? Can I do it too? It's very helpful when you need to learn the kids names quickly!
