Thanks for the info. Yes its a 3Com switch at both ends. Currently its VLAN`d for a few Curriculum devices within that building, But that will become redundant once it moves over.

Hi, This is probably a really basic question and i think I already know the answer but I just need to know for sure. We have an out building that has 1 run of fibre to it that has always been on the Admin Network (6 Workstations) and I`m wanting to move it over to the Curriculum Network (and move the workstations over accordingly) This fibre runs back to the main network cab (to an admin switch), Am I correct in thinking its just a case of physically moving over the fibre from the Admin Switch (in the Main network cab) to a spare fibre module port on the Curriculum? Is there any other configuration i need to do after moving it over? I've never had to do this before so just airing on the side of caution!

We went over to O365 in July, this has been the first issue since then tbh

BTW - Did you have an IP of the other domain (on the server) for it to work or just a trust between the two domains?

We have 5 Admin pcs on a seperate domain which i would like to add to our Curriculum Sophos Enterprise console to make it easier to manage. Is this possible? (if i added another card with a Admin IP to the curric SEC server) I could install SEC on the admin server if not but only have 1 server (SIMS server) on this domain and want to limit the load if possible. I Would like to set the pupils GPO to a different Internet Homepage than everyone else. Currently the homepage for everyone is configured in the Default domain policy. How do i get this GPO to override the DDP but just for the pupils? cheers

IT teacher has asked if we can put the Raspberry Pi`s in one of the IT Suites permanently. Not a problem only that they will all end up going wall about within a week. We currently just set them up when they need it which proves a pain for us and also the teacher. How does everyone have theirs set up? Ideally would like the student to be able to just flick between the Pi and PC depending on which one they want to use.

We use this using a Session host, although i didn't know you could have virtualised desktop. I might look in to setting it up this way. Can you have it running both SH and Virtualised? or is it just one or the other? (Sorry to hijack the thread)

Anyone have any recommendations on screens\TV`s for use with Xibo? (All depends on available room i know)

Currently sorting out our Meru WLAN and just wondering how many SSID`s people have configured on their network? Currently have - 1. Main SSID for domain joined laptops 2. Guest SSID using Smart Connect - for guest access 3. Admin SSID - for us techs Its up in the air at the moment but seem to be getting it sorted slowly, just need to setup a VLAN now and direct WLAN traffic through that via a transparent proxy Cheers

Hi, I'm looking for ideas on a transparent proxy to use. Im setting up our Wireless network using Meru captive portal. We have Sophos UTM as our Firewall/ Gateway. New to transparent proxying so might be able to use something in Sophos UTM? Can i use Smoothwall as a transparent proxy to forward on requests to our UTM? Cheers

Just installing Office apps for a bunch of IPADs and just wondering how everyone manages a few things.. (I'm guessing these issues are going to be down to the fact that Ipads aren't really meant for use outside of the home! but here goes..) The pupils access the app using their O365 account, edit and save a document and then finish, but the app doesn't log them out!, leaving them selves logged in for the next user to access their files. Hows everyone managing this? Also can you change the default save location to Onedrive from local when saving files? cheers

We have had the same issues, only updated 2 Ipad air 2`s to IOS 9.0.1 thankfully. The workaround above did fix the issue where the SSID wasn't appearing at all. But now on one of the devices the SSID disappears and reappears constantly. Spent 2h 30m on the phone to Meru yesterday (which was very painful!) they ran a few scripts on the AP`s. Hoping they fix this soon as more and more will be coming in with IOS 9!

Hi, I need to run a patch on our FMS through DBupgrade this weekend. When inputting the details (in DBupgrade) Servername: Database: Sims Username: Password : For FMS upgrades is this the FMS Database? or do you use the SIMS database? Also, It says "Sims Username", do i use my Sims admin details or Finance admin details? Havemt dont one of these for a while, can wait till Monday to speak to LA but could do with doing it tomorrow Cheers

Just looked in Office 365 Mail Flow - Am i missing something, need to stop the pupils group from emailing (anyone in the) staff group. Cant seem to see an option for enabling this. I Have one setup for pupils and external mail which works fine. Can you do this? Regards

Needing to upgrade a 3com 2950 that is currently providing the fibre link back to our main server cabinet. I have been replacing all our old 3com switches with HP so could anyone advise on what they have. We currently have HP v1910 for our Edge switches or maybe the 2500 Series? would another one of these be sufficient? I'm looking in around the £500 region. Regards
