Just moved in to a new build and our line speed is 3mbps max! Really shocking that the developer didnt get this sorted when building the estate. Does anyone have any suggestion on how to speed up the process of getting the estate upgraded?! Im guessing were stuck for a number of years but any suggestions would be helpful!

Im not sure its a FW issue as we have ones that are updating correctly upto today, just few and far between though!, where as a few months ago the entire fleet would have reported in by now (switched on PC`s of course)

Uninstalled this yesterday as a test on one client, still no update from this client.

Having the same issues here, WSUS and the reporting to and from the clients has been on and off, taking an age for clients to report back to the console. Some report and update fine, others just sit there with "Not yet reported". Any advice would be apreciated!

Yeah I would have to take it out to check. or log in to the switch I think i will try the mis matched patch leads in the morning and then get info on the module on the 3com switch and see if its compatible with the HP

Yeah, the 3com has its own SFP module patched through, I`m slightly guessing as it was patched through at the other end before my time (and there little documentation) but i think i know which fibre it is at the other end It goes into!

Im guessing its 50/125 (OM2+) and the transceiver is working fine, i think i will make sure i havent mismatched the patching on the fibre Is it always red on the left? how do you tell which way round it is? Not done much fibre patching before tbh!!

Thats a great help thank you, Its a 3Com switch at the other end, (a 3com Baseline 5500) these are the core switches (and all the other fibre links around the school are 3com to 3com come to think of it!) Im going to have to buy another HP and Transceiver at the other end and patch it into that i suppose?!

No other uplinks The fibreis probably about 6 years old, i think my main issue is determining if the transceiver is faulty, if as suggested above I should be receiving a Transceiver present light on the SFP ports (and I`m not) then I`m presuming that its a faulty transceiver? The switch on the other end is a 3 com. I haven't actually checked connection yet as i thought if there isn't a light on the Transceiver port then that¬s an issue to start. Unfortunately i dont have another to test! Probably will have to order another

Its a brand new switch out of the box, nothing configured as of yet, so i dont think so? Could be wrong though!?

Thanks for this info, yes i thought it was strange that the light came on then went off, i tried it in 2 different slots and it did the same in both. I think this is my first problem, do you have to configure anything on these switches when installing a transceiver?

Can someone shed some light on where I`m going wrong here. We have 4 Core fibre to a building off the main block, one pair is set up and working in to a 3com switch (on admin net) another pair is terminated in the fibre patch panel awaiting patching (for me to have the curriculum network in this building) I have a HP 2530-24G switch and purchased a "HP x121 1G SFP LC SX Transceiver" to attach in a SFP port. (Which i have done 1st problem - when i plug the Transceiver in i get an initial link (Green arrow lights up) but then goes off - Is this right or should it be constant green? The Patch lead im using is a 2Mtr LC(Dx) ST Dx 50/125 2.8mm Lead On the other switch (admin net) the Transceiver is permanently lit green so im wondering if i have the wrong Transceiver?! I`m thinking some of the kit is wrong somewhere!

Thanks for your views. We have a school full of Zoostorm kit and to be honest in the two years we haven't had any problems with them. I know there cheap and I`m keen to get some kit in thats "better" quality, hence going for Lenovo, i`m tempted to carry on with Zoostorm to be honest. Wold people go for Dell kit with this thinking in mind? cheers

Hi, Im trying to find a way of pupils logging out of their O365 account on ipads, they login do their work but then stay logged in. Does anyone know of auto signing out of the MS Apps (Word, PPT, Excel etc..) on IOS?. Theres an option in IOS > Settings > Word > Reset Word > "Delete Sign-in Credentials" to sign out when the app is closed, but this then resets to off when the app is launched again. Any one have any ideas? (I know Foldr have an option for "Shared Devices" where you have to sign in everytime but want to utilise what we have before looking elsewhere) cheers

Going through the same at the moment. Our school bought 10 Ipads before i started, not one of them is or has been used since for Teaching and learning. Not one ever appears in school to used for the correct reasons and when i request them back to do upgrades all they have on is Social media apps or it is used for their kids for games. Unfortunately this was before i rolled out MDM so I`m very tempted to ask SLT to pull all back so we can limit any control by staff and force them to use it for T+L I imagine this would cause an uproar and i would get over ruled so I`m holding back. Any purchased from now on are added to MDM and fully managed. More and more are being purchased by departments and everytime i wonder what they want them for, the bad thing is i dont think they even know why there buying them in the first place! Used correctly though i think its a decent resource

Does anyone manage their Staff Home laptops through Meraki MDM? I want a way to keep tabs on these, ensure they are being used, AV and WU are up to date etc... Wondering if anyone can advise if this is a good idea, not sure how much of the AV and WU you can monitor?, and if its going to be worth the hassle of pulling them all back into school! (I envisage this will take months!) Cheers
