I have a failed drive in one of our Dell Power edge 2900`s - Its a "Dell Barracuda ES.2 500gb SAS" drive - Its part of a array Was wondering - does it have to be the exact same drive that I have to replace with? or just a SAS 500gb drive??? PS - Can anyone shed light on the best place to buy said drive? Can only find seller in the states Cheers

Hi, first new intake as a NM - was just wondering if anyone can share their procedures for what they do with regards to this? Obviously create new accounts for network, email, VLE etc... but what policies do you get them to sign? and anything else would be great thanks in advance

yep had the EXACT same fault in my previous workplace - its the Capacitors - as previously mentioned - its the 3 capacitors on the MB - If you change them you will get a bit longer out of them.

Ok, so I want to look into mapping our printers through a VBS Script (previously used GPP but are having issues with printers not mapping etc..) I have got a very basic script to map printers and this works fine when running it manually - I was just wondering the best way of calling this VBS script through logon? - I want to put the VBS script on the local c drive so that the user who logs on will get the shared printers for that room. What is the best way to call this vbs script? can I use Group policy to run this locally based script or would it be better sat on a share? How does everyone do this in their environment using VBS scripts? Thanks

Probably! Everything is working fine apart from one thing - users are still being prompted to restart their machine to install updates and then subjects them to a 15 minute count down (which eventually they cant cancel) Now I thought that the last entry below disabled this? but it doesn't seem to be working! Is there any where else I need to set to stop this? Have scheduled Windows updates to install at a specific time each day through GP and have these policies enabled\disabled in GPM are - Computer Config\ Admin Temp \ Windows Components \ Windows Updates - Configure Automatic Updates - Enabled (Auto Download and schedule the install) - Specify Intranet Microsoft update service location - Enabled - Allow non administrators to receive update notifications - Disabled - No auto restart with logged on users for scheduled automatic updates installations many thanks in advance

Thanks, do you know roughly the cost of this for 450pcs?
-
Hi, im looking in to implementing a power management solution in our school and have seen Powerman PC - Can anyone tell me the rough cost of this before I go down the route of trialling it - I know it depends on PCs (we have roughly 450) but is the cost thousands or hundreds? Thanks

found it!, that's great, user sends and email and gets a response when read (of what time it was read)

Does anyone know how to (or can it be done) - Headteacher wants to send out emails to staff with read receipt but to stop them cancelling the read receipt option (basically to ensure they have read the email) So, Obviously setting the read receipt up is pretty straight forward but when they receive the email and the receipt option comes up asking them to click yes or no I want to disable the "no" option so they can only click on "yes" HT said she had this setup in previous school Thanks

maxrebo replied to maxrebo's topic in Thin Client and Virtual Machines
was thinking around 4 or 5 Virtual servers - internal storage and minimum 16gb RAM -
how much did it cost for the essentials package (I know it depends on number of cpus etc..)

MIS Remote backup solution - advice needed
maxrebo replied to maxrebo's topic in How do you do....it?
no there is no problem with the tape backup its just with important data such as MIS I would like a secondary backup for Disaster recovery (having one off site)thanks -
Hi, we currently only backup our MIS data to tape (daily) and I need advice on two options - do I .... 1.go and setup an off site backup with a third party company - cost £450 p/y or 2. Setup a NAS drive in a remote building (secured) and backup the data to that as a secondary backup what everyone recommends would be gratefully received

RD Web access is set up ready to go for us - just one last thing I have been trying to figure out - we have all the MS office apps and SIMS/ pars etc on the Remote apps working fine - I would like to put a "computer" shortcut on there so they can access their mapped shares - is this possible using RD remoteapps ? At the moment they will have to go into MS Word and open a word document through File\open etc... same with Excel, ppt etc... I know this will be the first question they ask when I deploy to staff thanks
