Sims document server / report generation issues
networkmangler replied to Jamman960's topic in MIS Systems
I have noticed that as well. CPU at 65%, RAM at 70% but it's still running slow on the server and workstations. Sometimes stopping the SIMS Data Exchange Service helps but sometimes it doesn't -
Sims document server / report generation issues
networkmangler replied to Jamman960's topic in MIS Systems
Yes, our SIMS performance has been in decline for a while but it's noticeably worse since the upgrade. Also annoyingly the DMS error has returned. The Data Manager has resorted to uploading student data individually. We have also had issue's with SIMS Next Gen. We get random error pages and have to keep reloading to get it to work -
Sims document server / report generation issues
networkmangler replied to Jamman960's topic in MIS Systems
The issue seems to have resolved itself for us although the data manager said she had to do the reports in batches rather than in bulk Our support company did get back to us and said to make sure these 2 sites had been white listed: https://www.platform.sims.co.uk/validation/api/v1/sims7/bau https://pazprdpfmdmssa.blob.core.windows.net/ -
Sims document server / report generation issues

How did you switch back to SIMS 7 DMS? When I look at the SNG DMS setup it says once the option has been ticked it can't be unticked: I didn't tick the box. It automatically happened after I applied the summer upgrade -

We have the same issue, I contacted our support company and they said ParentPay are aware and it's been marked as a major case They are working on a patch/fix but there is no set timeline when this will be ready -

Yes, we have been having the same issue Office 365 either gets stuck in a loop and just redirects you to the login page The Class Charts account still work I haven't tried a password reset yet so I'm not sure if we are getting this issue as well

We have had an increase in SAR requests but they are coming from either SEND students/parents or students that have been suspended/excluded. The number of students with EHCP's has risen and even students that don't have an EHCP but clearly need more support has risen. The amount of funding we get to support these students is no where near enough which leads to unhappy parents I assume the suspended/excluded students/parents are trying to find something to try to get out of the suspension/exclusion. I did wonder if this was an AI suggestion

I raised a query yesterday with class charts via email and I got a response within 10 minutes. It wasn't the response I wanted but at least I got a reply. We have a member of staff that uses, Analytics > Attendance > Display All In the "Show all pupils" field they search for certain pupils. Previously this field showed students names and their form/year. The form/year details have been removed, this makes it difficult when we have students with the same name or similar names. Class Charts said removing these details was "considered an improvement to the system to help prevent slowness and to create a cleaner look within the application". Also we have had a few parents emailing to say they have not been receiving emails from class charts so it's interesting to hear other schools have the same issue

I use: user config/administrative templates/control panel/Settings Page Visibility. This is enabled with ShowOnly:Sound;Display I also have: config/administrative templates/control panel/Show only specified Control Panel items. enabled with Sound and Display added to the list This won't block the control panel but they can only get access to 2 items which are the same as the settings page

I have been made aware that emails sent from my school to LGfL schools are being flagged as SPAM and being held by their mail protect software. This then means the recipient doesn't receive it. We had an incident yesterday where our PE staff had emailed a school to cancel an arranged football match but they didn't receive the email and turned up at the school. It was later discovered that the email was marked as spam and held by mail protect I tried contacting LGfL about this and was told I had to raise a case via the helpdesk site but I'm unable to do this as I'm not a customer. Other than having to ask individual schools to whitelist us, is there anything else I can do?

I think you can get that error when another application is using the Port that Intouch wants to use If you have access to the ParentPay Support site, article KB0013094 gives a description on how to resolve it

I need a dashboard showing overall network health
networkmangler replied to jmak's topic in How do you do....it?
I use NEMS NEMS Linux | Enterprise Asset Monitoring running on a raspberry pi. It monitors and reports on things like switches, servers, photocopiers etc -
I have just started testing Intune and have been having the same issue with assigning configurations via user groups as well i.e they don't apply straight away I did try assigning the configuration to the device but found that it applies these settings for all users including admin users and even the local admin user. Is there a way around this? I like to lock down the system settings so that only the Display and Sound settings are accessible to users. If I do this to the device I won't be able to get to the other system settings when logged in as an admin

Broadcom VMware cease or desist or be Audited
networkmangler replied to loxford01's topic in Licensing Questions
I have read a few horror stories about this and Broadcom being very aggressive towards companies (I haven't heard about them going after a school). We previously used VMware but our servers hardware was due for a refresh last summer. When I heard Broadcom had bought them out and introduced an new expensive subscription model we went with Hyper-V on our new servers. -
We are moving away from Redstor in the summer and have given LGFL notice that we won't be renewing. After our backups failed last night and there was no notification that there was an issue I assumed LGFL had pulled the plug on us early! I raised a support case but was told about the general issue you have shared Even if they don't want to send a text message or email they could post on things like twitter or even on the announcement section of their own support site

Has anyone done a Pearson Digital Functional Skills test? or planning to do it? I'm trying to follow the guidance but some of it doesn't make sense One section says "Please note that as the FS Digital Test Player is running in an online environment, a strong, stable and constant internet connection will be required throughout the test" . It then says in another section "Centres must ensure candidates do not access the internet in Section A". There is another part that says "Candidates are required to have access to email software. They will not be required to send an email but must have access to suitable software which allows them to create an email, copy to more than one recipient and add attachment" How will we do this? When you open most email software it asks you to setup an account before you can do anything I can't see this running very smoothly

We have a SMART SPNL-6075 interactive display with a faulty camera The teacher reported that they were having intermittent issues with the touch on the display. I contacted SMART and they asked we to run some diagnostics which showed that one of the cameras had failed. The display is out of warranty, so SMART put us in contact with a repair company if we wanted to get get repaired out of warranty. This company want £390 to collect the display, have a look at it and then return the display. They would then be able to provide a quote for repair. I did ask if they could give me a ball park figure for a camera replacement but they wouldn't say. I feel like we could end up throwing money at an old interactive display and could instead use that money buying a new one. Has anyone had to get a camera replaced on one of these and have an idea how much it will cost? Is there anyway we can buy the parts and repair it our self?

RM Internet Price Increase
networkmangler replied to AverageMuggle's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
The quote we got from RM felt like the kind of quote you would give if you didn't want the work i.e that extortionate that no one would except it I don't mind sharing the name of one of the companies, this is based on a recommendation Medhurst Welcome - Medhurst (medhurst-it.com) The other company was recommended by our MAT and I think already support other schools in the MAT, so they will most likely get the job. I don't know much about them yet but when I do I will pass on the details -
RM Internet Price Increase
networkmangler replied to AverageMuggle's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
I was told that RM have no plans for CC4 to support Windows 11. So effectively it's end of life will be 14th October 2025 I was told the 2 options are Vanilla or fully cloud. The Vanilla quote I got from them was eye watering and I'm currently talking to 2 other companies -

I think Doddle got bought out by another company before this happened The new company promised to update all resources so they no longer use Flash but that hasn't happened. We have also had ongoing issues syncing our data with Doddle since the new company took over We contacted them about the database error and they said "The issue was due to a database / AWS update/sync that didn’t go according to plan. Our IT colleagues, together with AWS specialists are working frantically to fix it. As of tonight, they have notified us that it is likely to take them till Friday / weekend before things get back to normal. So, the realistic date they are working with for things to get back to normal is Monday." The Monday would have been 26th June

RM Unify and Management Console
networkmangler replied to donkeymusic's topic in Educational Software
I'm not sure why you are getting the error One thing to have a look at is the groups your account is a member of, is your account a member of the "Domain Admins" group? I think if you have the "Domain Admins" and "Policy Managers" groups you should have access to everything
