  1. Just wondered how much Virgin Media customers are paying for their broadband (or other combo packages). My contract just expired and I managed to get myself what I think is a pretty decent retentions deal. Here's what I was paying: £38.49/Month (First 6 Months Broadband was half price) 60Mb Broadband (Was gonna be boosted to 100Mb in July) Basic Telephone (Weekends Free) SuperHub 1 18 Month Contract I called to cancel and they offered me: £26/Month 100Mb Broadband Basic Telephone (Weekends Free) SuperHub 2 (Free) 12 Month Contract I refused and gave them my 30 day notice. They called me back 2 days later and offered me: £21/Month (+ 1 Month Free - Effective: £19.25/Month) 100Mb Broadband Basic Telephone (Weekends Free) SuperHub 2 (Free) 12 Month Contract But I negotiated harder, because I wanted the 152Mb, they initially offered it for £26/Month, but I wanted no more than £23/Month, so I persisted and settled for: £25/Month (+ 1 Month Free - Effective: £22.91/Month) 152Mb Broadband Basic Telephone (Weekends Free) SuperHub 2 (Free) 12 Month Contract Not interested in TV and the telephone I only use for incoming calls. I have been with them 19 months now and I have to say the service has been flawless so far compared to issues I suffered constantly when I was with Be (bethere.co.uk) previously. I know the SuperDud was a bit of a joke, but I just got delivery of my new SuperHub 2 today, so hopefully that will give me better wireless performance.
  2. I highly recommend 3. I left them over a year ago and switched to Virgin Mobile (who use EE's network) and their coverage was utterly atrocious! I switched back to 3 in December and haven't looked back since! The One Plan is excellent value at just £15/Month SIM free on a 12 month contract. 2000 mins, unlimited texts, All You Can Eat Data and unlimited tethering too! I've never had issues with their coverage and the offer of 4G for no extra cost is superb value when compared to other networks.
  3. The registrar for the domain is 123reg. Unfortunately the previous guy still hasn't transferred ownership of the domain in to my name. Would 123reg be the one controlling the relay?
  4. No, they are using AVG anti spam, but I can't see any settings that would be blocking the emails. Just for the record a lot of Google searches are saying check that the Require that all senders are authenticated is disabled. I have checked this and it is disabled.
  5. I've just been given a handover of the Exchange 2010 system at a Charity Girls' School that I am now responsible for. I have tried to create a new email account for myself and a new member of staff, however, none of the new accounts can receive emails from external. We can send emails, but when receiving the sender gets a bounce back: What's also interesting is last night I tried to edit the email address policy. Staff have been complaining that they have horribly complex usernames and the email addresses are in the format of [email protected]. They would prefer having [email protected]. So, I went in to the policy which was currently set as %[email protected] and I added %g.%[email protected] and set it as the reply to primary SMTP address. However, this morning all external emails were being bounced back with the 550 unknown user error. I have set the %[email protected] back as the default and all is working again. However, the firstname.surname alias won't work for any existing users and the 2 new accounts I have created cannot receive emails at all even with [email protected]. Any ideas?
  6. Well, I decided not to chargeback as I didn't wanna risk getting on PayPal's bad side. The seller replied once I threatened him with the chargeback and he said he'd send a replacement gas pump. Over 2 months later, I still haven't heard anything back at all and he won't reply to my numerous messages. So, before I write it off as a complete waste of money... Is there anyway I can go about getting a refund/money back? I can't afford to pay too much in legal fees, will small claims court cost me a lot and require me to take time off work?
  7. Interesting what a user base does for you. Viber sold last week for $900m and Skype sold to Microsoft a few years ago for $8.5bn. Both are technically more superior products, but WhatsApp holds the number one spot for user base. An interesting funny... This purchase has put WhatsApp as the 113th richest "country" by GDP.
  8. I reported this to Atomwide a few months ago. They informed me that it has been blocked in the LGfL area.
  9. I've got the following RAM in my rig: GeIL 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz VALUE PLUS Dual Channel (GVP38GB1600C9DC) It's running at stock, haven't forayed in to overclocking as yet.
  10. Noooo... I stay miles away from AI Suite! Never ever needed it! I'll have a look at the fast boot options when I get home. As for USB devices, all I have plugged in is: Microsoft Wireless Receiver for Keyboard and Mouse Microsoft Xbox 360 Controller for Windows That's pretty much it!
  11. No, don't have one available It's a standard Gigabyte Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 Ti running the latest WHQL drivers from Nvidia. I'm presuming that shouldn't cause the issue.
  12. Well, firstly, apologies for the thread resurrection. But despite trying all the advice on this thread and despite reformatting my PC and reinstalling it with Windows 8.1, I'm still getting this issue. The really weird thing is that it only seems to happen from a cold boot in the mornings. If I come home from work and boot up the PC (despite it not being booted up at all for the whole day) Windows boots up just fine. However, in the mornings, I will get a full black screen or a black screen with the cursor stuck in the middle. Any ideas? BIOS and all drivers are up to date.
  13. Just wanted some advice about an ebay purchase that has since become faulty. I purchased this chair in September 2013 from the same seller. I learnt the hard way that it's a terrible product! First and foremost it's not a massage chair at all. It's more like an overblown vibrator! :| Anyway, I ignored that and persevered with the chair, however, in December, the gas mechanism developed an issue, where it just started to sink slowly as anyone sat on it. This for me was completely unacceptable after just 3 and a half months of usage. I have tried to contact the seller for support options 3 times, but I've had no response at all. I called Ebay and they won't help because 45 days has passed, I called PayPal and they said the same thing. However, they said I could contact my credit card company and get a refund from them. The question I wanted to ask is, am I well within my rights to do this? Also, do I have to take responsibility of the return of the product? EDIT: Just noticed it's now listed at £300 - I only bought it for £80 from the same guy! :|
  14. Isn't Sky the only ISP that offer a completely unlimited package? No usage cap and no throttling?
  15. EDIT: Sorry - Bit of a FAIL on my part!
  16. But are you proficient in German? (I'm assuming RTL is German right?)
  17. I've recently taken over management of a charity funded private school (Primary and Secondary - 1 form entry) in East London. Completely voluntary work, long hours (in addition to my paid job!) and late nights, but there is a satisfying feeling about doing something for the community. Anyway, that aside, as soon as the teachers learnt I am a technician at a state school, the IT problems came bombarding in. The entire network has been put together on the tightest budget possible. Credit to the guy who has put it together he's done a decent job for what very, very limited resources he had. Alas though, the network is in bad shape. It's made up of a majority of thin client machines running NComputing hardware/software. There are 5 reasonably powerful "servers". That is desktop PCs with Core i5 CPUs and ranging from 20GB - 32GB of RAM. These are all running Windows 7 Pro with the NComputing host software that control the thin clients in the school. There is also another "server" - a lower spec machine running ESXi that hosts a DC, File Server and Exchange Server. All Windows Server 2003 - Exchange, I believe is 2003. I'll be brutally honest, I hate thin clients. Mainly for the fact that I don't know the architecture too well, but for the fact that in this case it just doesn't work. YouTube is the main complaint from the teachers, it is completely unwatchable. The display stutters similar to a PC without the correct graphics drivers installed. (i.e. Redrawing the entire display with every frame.) The AD and File Server are a mess. The teachers have accounts, but none of the students have accounts! They all share 1 account and have free reign to each others' files. Also, the Exchange server is a mess. Sent emails are either delayed by 6 - 24 hours or go missing altogether and many, many emails are not received at all. The network architecture isn't too bad but it is a 10/100 backbone, which I will obviously look at upgrading to gigabit. They also have a bespoke VoIP system for the phones and a bespoke MIS (Schools Pro? I think - Schools Pro - Home) The broadband connection is a BT Infinity Advanced Option 2 package. (80Mbps Down 20Mbps Up) Now, the questions I have: Should I blow the whole lot away and start from scratch? If so, should I reuse the current "servers" and do an ESXi or XenServer install with a new DC and file server? (Windows Server 2012, Windows 7 Clients, Full Fat PCs etc) Should I do away with Exchange altogether and look at going for Office 365 for Education (Free). Unfortunately, I know nothing about the current VoIP system, or had any experience with VoIP at all. If we reconfigure the switches, I'm sure I'll lose the VoIP system altogether, so, who can I turn to for help on implementing a cheap and new system. Seeing as it is a charity funded school, budgets again will be extremely tight, but I will be able to push for some funding once I have a robust plan in place. I already have a limited fund for getting some PCs in, but I want to scope out the bigger picture before any moneys are spent. So, any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
  18. Thanks FN-GM. That worked perfectly!
  19. Thanks, I will try that! I've tried RD, but it removes the root folder too! Don't want that!
  20. The school has a Functional Skills exam coming up and I need to delete the contents of the exam users folders. I have tried the following command but it only deletes files and not folders. Is there anyway I can force it to delete everything? DEL /Q /S "E:\Users\ExamUsers\Exam51\*.*" DEL /Q /S "E:\Users\ExamUsers\Exam52\*.*" DEL /Q /S "E:\Users\ExamUsers\Exam53\*.*" Etc.. I don't want to delete the top level folder (i.e. Exam51, 52 etc) just empty out the contents.
  21. No, that won't work, you've missed out a level in the folder structure: C:\Other Files\Misc\\*.doc How do I declare the in the script?
  22. Can someone help me write a quick script to copy files from 1 location to another? I have files in this folder structure: C:\Other Files\Misc\\ I want to copy all the .doc files from the folder to the following location: E:\Other Files\Misc Can someone help me with a script that will do it for me? Thanks in advance!
  23. I've just tried this and it hasn't worked for me. I've followed everything until step 11, but I get the error when launching InDesign and can't get the applications to launch. I've tried launching Dreamweaver - which won't start at all and I've tried Flash, which takes forever to start and gives the error: FlashPro encounter a fatal exception. FlashPro will now terminate. So, no luck for me I'm afraid
  24. I've got a Corsair TX Modular 620W PSU. I think that's more than enough power for what's going on in the system.
