Is anyone else not slightly flabbergasted by the $999 (Probably £999) price tag for the Pixelbook? Doesn't it go against everything Chrome OS stands for? Firstly, it simply doesn't make sense having a Core i7, 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD on a Chromebook (And that one is priced at something like $1649). Secondly, no matter how good it looks, why would anyone want to spend $999 when pretty decent similar models go for under £400. I'm shocked that they haven't learnt from the original Chromebook Pixel. Some of the reviews have said that they're pricing this up against the MacBook, Dell XPS, Surface etc, but those are full fat regular devices, whereas Chrome OS is technically a glorified web browser! Don't get me wrong, I love G Suite for Education and the potentials and Chromebooks in general, just not at a ridiculous price like that!

This. Putting the iPad in to lost mode has never switched off the WiFi for me. Kinda would defeat the purpose of lost mode is it did!

I put my iPads in to lost mode using Meraki MDM all day long when a teacher decides that they will "reappropriate". Once it's returned, a few clicks later and it's back to normal.

Any difference from the betas?

Another annoying thing with Drive File Stream at the moment is that you can't move folders between drives.

The way I've always had to do it is: 1. Try to add iPad to my MDM using Apple School Manager 2. Get error message saying can't add iPad 3. Have to go back to the company the iPad was ordered from with a date and time the iPad was ordered and ask them to register the iPad with my DEP 4. Wait a few days... 5. Try again and it works Now, the trouble is, I started at my current place in 2014 and I'm trying to register iPad 2 devices that were bought in 2012 from RM. I've been back to RM, but there are so many iPads and I don't know which serial numbers match up to which order. Are you saying there is an easier way I can do this? (Also considering that the iPad 2 only supports up to iOS 9 so the new Meraki method with Apple Configurator and iOS 11 isn't possible for me)

Such a shame that you can't enroll pre-iOS 11 devices on to DEP through Apple Configurator. Got a whole load of iPad 2 devices that I'm having a nightmare trying to locate invoices for and matching serial numbers to invoices!

Realised today that this isn't going to be sufficient as I also need the signature settings to save too, which isn't currently happening. So, I guess it's back to the original question...

For me, definitely. I upgraded to a 6 Plus from an iPhone 4, which was daunting for about 5 minutes. I bought my wife an iPhone 6 at the same time. Whenever I use my wife's phone, I definitely find it much smaller and harder to type than on my iPhone 6 Plus. I'd recommend the extra £100. Especially with the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. The 7 came with 2GB RAM whereas the 7 Plus came with 3GB RAM. So, you're getting more than just extra real estate as the Americans say!

Oblong! Now there's a word that I haven't heard in years! It was even banned at one of my old schools in the past. We had to use the word "rectangle" Back on topic... Apple always seem to get trounced for lack of innovation. I'm not exactly sure just how much more they can pack in. Like someone said above, how much "smarter" are we expecting our smartphones to get? A lot of manufacturers are releasing so called flagship phones, but leaving out noticeable flagship features. E.g. Water resistance seems to be the norm for flagships these days, neither the Google Pixel or the very recent Essential phone have that. Samsung gave the Note 8 a smaller battery than the S8 Plus (maybe to avoid further explosions?!) and Apple left out the much touted in-screen Touch ID - perhaps to left Face ID take off and then introduce it as a new feature for the iPhone XI. It's almost like the companies are holding back to ensure they have a "new feature" for next years flagship!

Don't get me wrong. I love the iPhone. It's the only smartphone I've ever owned (unless you count the Nokia N73 and N82 [emoji12]). The trouble with the price tag is even though we've been spending £800 on previous phones, even that has been extortionately high. Now that they've practically broken the £1000 mark, it's only going to get more and more expensive. I don't upgrade every year by any means (only ever owned an iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and iPhone 6 Plus, of which the first 2 were on contract and it's only the 6 Plus that I bought outright) just thinking of paying £1000 even every few years is a tough commitment. My iPhone 6 Plus is now at the 3 year old mark and you can start to notice the 1GB RAM starting to lag. It'll only be a matter of time before it'll stop getting new iOS updates and then you are forced to upgrade. I just looked at the release notes for iOS 11 yesterday and most of the features don't exist on the iPhone 6/Plus. Conversely, I'm sure there are those that will argue that given the immensely high amount of hours in a day that we use our smartphones (I'm typing this on said iPhone 6 Plus right now) £1000 every 2-3 years, or even every year, might not be too bad an investment. Food for thought I guess. As for Face ID. I'm not too worried. Sure, it looked bad failing on Craig, but I've been using the similar Windows Hello with a Dell Inspiron 13 5000 laptop I have at work and it's practically flawless. I'm optimistic. Maybe once we get used to it, we'll wonder why we bothered with the "inconvenience" of having to touch our phone to get it working! [emoji12]

Just got a call back from them. The latest set of issues seem to be resolved now. The G Suite Dashboard doesn't make for very pleasant viewing though: Let's hope this is the last of it!

Just spoke to Google support. They confirmed that they are having issues with Drive, Gmail and Calendar. No ETA on a resolution yet.

This is getting rather worrying now. This is the 3rd time in the space of a week. It seems to be happening around the same time too, after 3pm-ish.

I'm in the same boat, but given the rumoured pricing structure, I can't see myself getting this generation or even the next generation!

Well, it seems to be back now, but there were definitely issues as Twitter is full of problems with people experiencing the same errors.

I would presume that the licenses would get carried over, provided that the school has paid for them. Never heard of an LA just handing out licenses, but if that was the case, then I would presume they would stay with the LA.

Would you know of a PowerShell script that I can use to do this automatically if I have a CSV file with the username and relevant email address?

LGfL StaffMail is a hosted Exchange system for staff at LGfL subscribed schools. I could give that a go, but would I need any access to the Exchange back end? If so, then this wouldn't work as this is something I don't have access to. Also, would I need to populate the email field in Active Directory for each user?

In truth, most of the staff do use OWA. The office staff are hot desking quite a bit this year due to building works, so it would be nice to get this working for them. Also, it's bugging me and I'd like to get it working and learn something in the process! [emoji12][emoji851]

I've set up our Windows Server 2016 domain user accounts to not use any profiles at all. I have redirected all the home folders and AppData to the user's share on the server and most things works well on Windows 10. One issue I do have however, is Outlook 2016 settings. I've manually set up Outlook for some of our users, but when they move to another PC, Outlook is not set up for them. I've checked their AppData folder on the server and there is nothing Outlook related in the folder. The Outlook files seem to be on the locally created profile. I would like to know how I can migrate over just the LGfL email settings, without migrating over .ost files as these seem to grow to huge sizes. Mine is currently at 2GB. I don't mind these sitting on local PCs, but definitely don't want files of that size on the network! Is there any way I can easily achieve this without having to resort to using any sort of user profiles, especially roaming ones!

My personal drive isn't working either.
