  1. The training went well and I'm keen to see the benefits as we start working with it. We have Spiceworks which is great but only good for IT related stuff for us, as it the helpdesk. SAM will be used for a whole school asset management database. The QR tagging is easy and quick and the reporting is quite detailed. We're also thinking of tweaking their helpdesk option to facilitate a lending database which can then be attached to an asset. We'll see how it goes.
  2. Anybody else use this? It's a web-based/QR code based inventory service. I have training on it tomorrow. Looks pretty good. http://www.schoolassetmanager.co.uk
  3. Absolutely spot on!
  4. Serif MoviePlus - I produce the video for Leavers' Dinner ever year. I used to use Adobe Premier but we switched to the Serif package about a year ago. Brilliant piece of software.
  5. Meatloaf and a beer tonight Meatloaf the food not meatloaf the singer.
  6. Our staff use their iPads as terminal clients when they want to print documents. In Printing Preferences we define the printers to be assigned to any client which includes the word "iPad" in it's name. Seems to work well.
  7. I've just been asked about locating a message in the Deleted Messages Log for SIMS Messaging. I've never used it before so I thought I'd take a look. Had a quick search for my own deleted messages... nothing. Does this need to be activated or is it just rubbish?
  8. Might be able to come this year!
  9. In the end, the teacher decided to assume the drive was broke and binned it. She's getting a new one WITHOUT the password protection feature.
  10. I'll be popping back to the stand for a freebie top up.
  11. I'll get her to check her washing machine to see if the drive fell out
  12. This is what I see when I go into Disk Management and bring up the drive's properties. No other partition visible.
  13. The second drive is nowhere to be seen to have a drive letter mapped. I disconnected any mapped network drives but the thing still won't appear.
  14. Had both the above error and a 502 this morning
  15. Hi guys, I have a pen drive here with some password protection software on it. As usual, in My Computer, you should see two drives. One being the protected drive, the other with the software on it. Recently, the user noticed the protected drive missing. She has never password protected the device so this drive has always been accessible. I'm trying to locate the files and the drive but having problems. In My Computer, the drive shown is 1.38MB In Disk Management, the same drive is shown as 248MB with no partitions. If you right-click on the Properties for this drive, it's shown as 1.38MB. I've tried running the software but I'm asked to insert a device. Any help? Thanks.
  16. I'll be there on the Friday. Never met the EduGeek gang before so it'll be good to see folks.
  17. We currently use the iTap app on iPads for remote access. Works well until we get Emerge.
  18. We're looking at Emerge. Recently got costs from Capita: 1) Site licence @ £2950 p/a - this allows an unlimited number of devices to use Emerge in school. OR 2) Licence the number of devices you wish – you start with the first device licence at £299 and then build up the number of devices you need using a combination of Singles, 5 or 10 bundles. For example if you needed 12 devices you would purchase as follows:- 1 x 1st Device @ £299 1 x Single Device @ £125 1 x 10 Bundle @ £890 TOTAL - £1,314 p/a
  19. Just done both those things and got nothing back. Just discovered another full mailbox of someone who IS and employee but NOT a user of SIMS. It's a bit weird.
  20. I've checked this just now and found nothing. This member of staff was a non-teaching member of staff who only needed access to SIMS Messaging. I've made sure he's not marked as an active user, I've even removed his group memberships. It's really strange.
