My Dad asked me about an odd email problem he's been having. I can't think what could be causing it so I'm hoping you lovely lot might have some ideas. My parents use a talktalk (formerly tiscali) email account. They've got a PC, laptop, 2 phones and and iPad set to pick up emails from the account. Intermittently one of the devices won't pick up one of the emails, at all, ever. It's normally one of the phones some-times it's the laptops (it's never been noticed on the iPad). It's not that they stop receiving emails, emails dated after the missing one are there and new emails come in fine. We've gone onto the talktalk web-mail site and the missing email is there so it doesn't look like it's been deleted from the server. If anyone knows what's going on or has any ideas please let me know. Thanks for any help.

Around 2008 one of the US networks did an experiment running their prim-time slots with reduced advertising. Pushing the length of a "hour long program" to up form 45 to 50 minutes. (This is why the first season of Fringe had 50 min episodes) They scrapped it after 1 year because they had problems getting the content providers to make shows with that additional 5 minutes. (I guess because it made it harder to sell to other networks, or reuse in other time-slots) The up-shot of that is that really everything needs to move in the same direction at (mostly) the same time otherwise you're going to have problems. And TBH the 45 min "american" or w/ads drama seems pretty ubiquitous these days so I think you'd struggle to change it either way.

If I understand this right, the "\\dc\netlogon\Default" profile is just replacing the "c:\users\Default" during the initial profile creation part of logon. In which case, the AD profile path should point to where you want a roaming profile created, or left empty for local profiles.

Maybe I'm being really dense, but I don't quite get it. You're changing it so when a user logs in it copies the "default profile" from the netlogon share rather than the local PC? How dose this make login faster? Surley copying the profile from the local disk is nearly always going to be quicker than pulling it off a network share?

It's always worked for us just using the command in the article on the PDC (Nltest /DBFlag:2080FFFF). If it's not picking up anything maybe try on the other Domain controllers.

When we've had problems like this before (it's nearly always turned out to be a phone trying to connect to the wireless/365 email with old credentials), we use the Netlogon debug logs. Turn on logging until the accounts are locked out again and search the log-file for the username. It should have the machine name/IP for where the failed request came from. In the past I've used shutdown scripts running scheduled tasks from a sever. Script would be: shutdown -f -m \\MachineName -t 10 With a new line for each PC. I guess AJWhite1970 means the climax cliffhanger in episode 9 (which AFIAK came from the show not knowing if it was going to get a back-half order when they made it - in the US airings ep9 was the pre-Christmas finally). The show did seem to have a subtle shift in direction/tone after that. Especially with the newer character's introduced. Also yey for Killjoys, but sad as it's the final season.

It does have a rather "Logan" feel to it, although it might just be old Patrick Stewart and the earthy color pallet. It looks awesome (Apart from Seven's eye-piece which looks oddly low-budget compared to the rest of the trailer effects). However, the Discovery season 2 trailer looked great, while the actual season was decidedly "meh". New Trek trailers very well it would seem. Still tentatively excited for this.

Conversely, we have to get signed consent to take photos/videos of pupils. I'm not sure about a parent, but if a member of staff was doing this they'd be in breach of our AUP. I'd be less worried about the adults, but any students in the background that might have denied photo consent.

Why not just change the old account and let O365 re-sync the changes (then put her old email address as an alias)? I know we used to have to faff around with new accounts, but O365 seems happy to sync email changes these days (as long as the new address is available). Otherwise the only way I know for them to access stuff from their old email account would be to log into the old account and share it with the new one.

We have Visigo on all our domain PCs (and before that Securus) which monitors on-screen elements and key-presses for trigger words/phrases and then emails the safeguarding lead with reports of any concerning behavior. As we can't guarantee students won't log onto a any given compute it goes out everywhere as standard. Of-course our AUP states very clearly (and we reiterate this in staff IT inductions) that computer activity is monitored for safeguarding reasons. Staff always seem fine with this. Something purpose made like visigo/securus strikes a good balance IMO, as it's always watching (better for safeguarding than a remote spot-check) but only ever logs if trigger words/phrases are found (better for data protection than remoting in at random)
