On Thursday we have the first referendum for the whole of the UK since the 1970's. It would've been nice for it to have been a more sensible referendum on voting reform or the very long overdue referendum on EU membership, but it's still very important to show MP's that we care about what goes on in politics and that we do want referendums. A low turnout will just give them an excuse not to bother in the future, a high turnout will make them sit up and think and give amunition to the call for more constructive referendums. Claiming voting no the AV is going to affect future reform is rubbish. I would argue that voting no to AV will give us a biggeer chance of reform as we have rejected that system and now they need to figure out something we will accept. Marginatlity is one of the main reasons, from looking at it in detail AV will make no effective change to the structure of our parliament, won't change our 2 party structure and won't make MP's any more accountable. It will probably make 5-10 seats more marginal, that's it. A much greater effect will be caused by the planned reduction in the number of MP's and changes in constituency boundaries. So your suggesting that a small party should have more influence in a coalition than the main party?

Agreed, the problem is you need a country that truly upholds the principle of freedom of speech, the UK is no longer such a country.

Or you could see it as one step on the road to reform. - I don't see a need for reform to a PR or AV system, FPTP for me is fine. The reform I want to see is a 'none of the above' option. In fact if the difference is so marginal why not vote yes? - Because I want to vote No? It also depends on what you call marginal. That a party will have to get a real majority before gaining a seat? That alone will settle a lot of issues so well worth it - As I said, sit down and work it out rather than listening to the Yes/No campaigns. In our country, with two main parties with polarised voting patterns and a number of small parties (yes I include Lib Dems in this) it makes such a negligable difference that it won't have the affect you are after.

The best thing though is to completely ignore the rubbish being spouted by both the Yes and the No campaigns, engage brain, think through the process and figure out if in reality it will make any difference. When you do this, you'll find the change is so marginal that it's a complete waste of time.

Or, they got the most votes of any party, therefore the most popular, therefore have a right to govern.

if you're bothered about cost, use china.ntp.pool.org, quality may be a bit dubious and you may suddenly find an exact duplicate of your time being sold but hey, they're cheap.

No it won't, if you want the MP out, your only realistic option is to vote for the strongest opposing candidate as first choice under AV as anything else you are risking the MP getting through in the first round, so there is no difference in tactical voting.

Labour voters will still vote Labour Tory voters will vote Tory Lib Dems voters will spend 5 hours in the polling booths trying to decide if they should put the Greens or the Monster Raving Looney Party as their 4th or 5th choices. AV is fantasy land waste of time, it will make naff all difference in your ability to kick out an idiot, corrupt MP. The only way to do that is to have a none of the above vote which if it wins force a by election with none of the previous candidates standing.

If you're moving to or already on Windows 7 then WDS with or without MDT and SCCM. If you're on WIndows XP then I'd say FOG.

Hmmm, that sounds an interesting android app project, to make an android phone sync time with GPS and act as an NTP time source for your network. Might have a play with that.

Apart from you may lose your vpn connection or remote desktop connections when you change time on the server. Best done on site rather than remotely ;-)

Meaning anyone logged in trying to access a share or anyything will fail as well until the time syncs properly.
