  1. I'll have to have a look when I get back in the office on Monday, but I had 3 boards replaced all brand new in September because of a similar problem where the board wouldn't align and I think eventually got stuck down on one side of the board. I can't remember whether they were R2 or not, they were from the new factory in Europe so possibly not. :/
  2. You could restore your backup to a different machine, export the comment bank from that copy and then import back into your normal SIMS database. Right clicking on the comment bank should let you export.
  3. You might need to move all of the existing allocated media to the scratch media set to allow it to overwrite the one's that have already been created (never thought about that sorry)
  4. 2 things I think I changed on my backup exec setup were: 1. Created a custom media set, 1 for daily differential and 1 for a Full Backup and on the Custom Media sets set the overwrite protection period for the however many days. 2. Changed the Jobs to use the new media sets and set the job to append, but overwrite if necessary. Don't think I changed anything else, but so far it seems to be rotating everything correctly on the Removable HDD.
  5. I had this when trying to edit things on the sysvol through the unc rather then the file system. Turned out to be internet explorer permissions. Adding the server names to the internet explorer trusted zone list fixed the problem I believe.
  6. Could be unrelated because it seems to be a user problem, but with you mentioning the print dialogue will throw it out there. I've had a similar problem on a couple of computers which was linked to the HP Universal Print Driver. Removing the Universal Print Driver and putting on the printer specific driver solved the problem. How up to date are your printer drivers?
  7. Never gave Windows Mobile a thought actually. Thanks. Might help if I explained specifically what they are after rather then the babbling in the first post. The idea is a password protected spreadsheet is stored in a directory on the server and contains contact and medical details for those going out on a sports fixture or school trip. Spreadsheet is updated by the office and by forcing whoever holds the mobile to charge it up using the computer, hopefully with some system we should be able to automatically sync the spreadsheet across to the mobile so that they have the details of whoever they need should they need them. Cheers.
  8. Guessing this is as good a place as any, but was torn between 2/3 different areas to stick it in. What I have been asked to do is see if it is possible to get a solution whereby we could possibly get a blackberry for our PE staff which would be for school use and contain a copy of contact details in an encrypted spreadsheet of some kind which, when the phone was plugged into charge on the computer (having confiscated the power adapter) would automatically syncronise said spreadsheet to ensure it was up to date. Said spreadsheet would also be password protected. Having a quick look, potentially Documents to Go on blackberry would do this however as it seems to be per user might have a bit of a faff getting it to syncronise properly when no one is logged on. Anyone have anything similar or point me in the direction of a better way go? Doesn't have to be a blackberry by any means as long as it can charge off the computer and automatically syncronise the said documents from a network drive and would allow a password protected document to be used. Thanks!
  9. Bah, I went offline early last night because I had to go on a course today. Course finished early, came home and no PS3. The irony of going to bed early for a change, just proves it's not worth it.
  10. I was an IT Technician for 2 years and then applied for and got a Network Managers job a year ago, but there is only me at present. Agree with everyone else, if your confident enough then go for it. The only reason I applied was because I felt I was ready for a new challenge.
  11. This is one area where having the SMT support is good (and thankfully we had it on this issue) saying that this is how you do it and the process you've got to do it, there's no other way. One person insisted that our SIMS admin person went through and printed each profile off for them to review on paper (really defeating the point) but we refused, told them how to do it if they really wanted to (having to go into each student one by one and printing them off) and that was that. I'm not sure what they did in the end, haven't been back to check the printer logs, but I know for a fact that we now don't print them off until they are complete. Now the only problem is to convince them that now it's all stored on SIMS, we really don't need to print off 3 copies anymore but that's another issue....
  12. You could add the IE7 ADM files to your group policy and that should give you the popup blocker options: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=11ab3e81-6462-4fda-8ee5-fcb8264c44b1&displaylang=en
  13. If you have any CC3/4 schools, Integris will provide you with a set of instructions on the required changes in the RM Management Console on request, if that's of any use to you.
  14. Yeah, I followed same steps in that article for version 5 and it worked perfectly.
  15. Not CC3/4 but I manually set it up on the workstations. Out of interest, I changed all of the screen res's to 1024x768 because that's what it asked for. Do you all operate at 1024x768 or have you run the exams at higher res's without problem?
  16. I don't see RM using a different Auth scheme from AD so probably the standard AD ldap call? This might help possibly? LDAP Authentication and Password Management
  17. Since I forgot all about it again (hate weeks like this!), I've attached below. On the Item Targeting, simply selected the staff group.
  18. Meant to grab the settings I used for the SIMS shortcut today but got distracted. Sent my self an email to remind myself to do it tomorrow for you.
  19. This was shown to me by one of our pupils and I've always kept it to hand as a reference just because it was so simple and handy. The only thing I never got round to doing was creating an automated way of doing it. How to Chroma Key in Windows Movie Maker: 9 steps - wikiHow
  20. If you have the Group Policy Preference Client installed on all workstations and have a server 2008/Windows Vista Machine then you can use Group Policy Preferences to send a shortcut out and filter it for whoever you want. It's currently how I've put the SIMS shortcut on Staff Desktops to keep them happy (otherwise it takes to long to load SIMS )
  21. Right, this is really starting to do my head in. As part of our media course students need to keep a blog of their work and blogger was recommended on the course and it saved me having to set up a load of blogs individually. So all's well and good, except that they can't upload videos to them. Any user can by bypassing the censornet 3 box which we have in place, but no one can by going through it, even if they are set up as completely unfilitered (or as unfilitered as I can work out how to make them). I've tried unfilitered users, workstations with Allow Web and Allow Other applied and all combinations of the above to no avail. The only thing that I am left with is to set blogger to bypass censornet completely like I had to do with wordle to get the java applets to work which I'd rather not do. Anyone able to point me in the right direction or give me more specific urls that I can bypass to allow uploading of videos to blogger? Cheers
  22. Mine came today for £61.40 Ah well, still having fun with it, no date on when it's due by, will push it off till half term me thinks (atleast then it goes on Marches credit card bill).
  23. Yup, mine downloaded and installed first thing this morning!
  24. We had a flier through for the 3m ones which was passed to me. Went into the recycling box when I rang up for a price!
  25. Our network here was behaving odd this morning, slow to logon, rejecting some logons because it couldn't find the domain ect. All ok again now though, weird...
