  1. Ok, decision made I think - you've nudged me enough with everything else I've read to go for the Sony. Thanks all! (and I've nothing against finance, that's how I got the car I've got now and the previous two )
  2. Nearest Richer Sounds is 60 miles away so with postage and vouchers puts it back into Argos' price range (so not really missing out) so 1 vote each atm...
  3. Nothing like leaving it to the last minute. Before the VAT goes up, I've decided to treat myself to a new TV! So with hardly any time to do any research and a load of Argos vouchers I have left over from before Barclaycard altered the ammount required for redemption, I've come up with 3 options I'm considering currently. 1. Buy Sony KDL32EX401U 32 Inch Full HD 1080p Digital LCD TV. at Argos.co.uk - Your Online Shop for . 2. Buy LG 32 Inch 32LD490 Full HD 1080p Freeview HD LCD TV. at Argos.co.uk - Your Online Shop for . 3. Buy LG 32LF2500 32 Inch Full HD Digital LCD TV. at Argos.co.uk - Your Online Shop for . One of the main uses will be for my PS3, which pushes me towards the Sony, where as one of the LG's has Freeview HD in it. Anyone have any opinions on any of them or another suggestion to go for? The £350 mark is the top limit of what I can afford to spend at Argos, anywhere else the price will have to come down to £270. Cheers!
  4. might sound silly but have you tried XPMACHINENAME\adminusername and password on the windows 7 laptop (replacing with appropriate values) Could be the Windows 7 laptop is trying to login using it's machine username.
  5. Don't know for certain because all my guides are locked away at work, but I think you put in the AM and PM and then you want to set the Write Marks to copy the lesson mark across to the Session for both the AM and PM slot. I know when we first set it up though there was a lot of faffing with the timetable to make sure it would all fit (but we do have a dedicated AM and PM registration slot).
  6. We have a copy of SimVenture here which isn't too bad from when I've played with it and our Sixth Form seem to like it for their Business Studies course - not sure on the suitability for what you want though? I also need to clarify whether they are going to force me to take out a support contract to reactivate the licence server on a different machine or not.
  7. Somebody came to me with this and after spending several hours trying to do various things I gave up and said that it would need to be restored so copied the data off plugging the drive into another computer and wiped/reinstalled. Had exactly the same issue and I assume that system restore was working, but nothing I tried was able to pick up the restore points.
  8. No exchange server (as of yet, although would love one) so that doesn't come into play. If it's not going to be a technical problem and it's just poor old me who's going to have to keep typing it in when needed, then I guess I might as well just leave alone.
  9. At present our Domain Name is in the format school.longschoolname.local and 33 characters in length. I'm at the stage now of starting to adapt things, so moving towards DFS for software deployment and mandatory profiles and other things which will require the FQDN. The question is, before I start embarking down this route, is the length of the FQDN going to cause me any problems down the line? Should I be considering renaming the domain before I start? I know the ideal option would be to rebuild the domain, but that's too big a job for me to consider at the moment due to various things happening (and lack of time being another), where as renaming the domain, although a large and risky job, would mean that everything would carry on running fairly easily and quickly. If the length of the FQDN is unlikely to cause any problems, then the thing can stay as it is as far as I'm concerned, just need input from people who have more experience then me. Thanks!
  10. *goes off and tests again...*
  11. I just typed Pro and up it popped top of the list.
  12. oooooh Another way is if you have the Gesture Seach app, type proxy and up it pops! - not tested yet though. (Nexus One FRG83D) Edit: Although, the one that is currently in seems to be the one specified by the Orange GPRS settings, so maybe won't work for wireless?
  13. Is it detecting the network type correctly? Mine started picking up 2 for some reason and that screwed the internet up. The answer was to run an admin command prompt and use route delete 0.0.0.0 That kicked it back in to life - the overall answer was the apple bonjour service was screwing the connection up.
  14. A Windows 7 Machine would be able to create the GPP for you, the 2003 Domain will just serve up the policies and providing your Windows XP workstations have the Client Side Extensions installed they'll work quite happily.
  15. Might be worth running a chkdsk on it from the recovery console - quite often I find it can fix the missing/corrupt file errors if you really need the computer up and running rather then rebuilding.
  16. This was set up on our machines before I started and still ticks over in the background. EZ GPO : ENERGY STAR
  17. Just in case any one else stumbles across this at any point, I eventually (after days of searching) came up with this one: Fundraising Thermometer Haven't got it into Xibo yet, because someone's still using my machine with the Xibo VM on it!
  18. Something I often try is pull the power cord out the back, press the power button a few times and then plug the power cord back in and see if it sorts it. Another thing is to pull the RAM out the machine, power it on and see if the BIOS beeps then power back down and reseat memory. Might just be perculiar to my machines though.
  19. hey hey We're busy raising money for equipment for the new sports hall and since I've just put up a new Xibo display in reception we thought it would be quite nice to have a thermometer which shows the total. Don't suppose anyone's come across and easy to update flash thermometer file that works happily in Xibo? Cheers
  20. What we found with these is if you plug the USB lead in and hold the record button for about 5 seconds then release it, you can then pull the video's off it like a memory pen. If you hold the button in too long though you'll get usb device not recognised. Solved all sorts of problems.
  21. Had an identical laptop which was very rarely used with a projector at the time so swapped the hard drives over and that was fine so was definately a Laptop Hardware issue.
  22. I got this last night and also got very very excited - until I read what it was.
  23. We don't go back until the 27th if memory serves rightly (was supposed to be inset on the 26th, but got cancelled and turned into an extra days easter holiday only last week)
  24. They aren't going out to get the root certificates update are they? I can't remember the exact url, but I know because our proxy needs auth that there are always failures in the event log because it can't contact it.
  25. This is a pain for us, we have various bits working on some machines but not others and I haven't had time to sit down and sort it out yet. Does it freeze when you load the import screen, or do you get to the option where you can start the import?
