I can see both of the laptops in the work group and can access my windows 7 files from the xp laptop after I have entered the username and password in the dialog box. When I try to access files from the windows xp laptop, using windows 7 laptop a dialog box appears asking for username and password. Im not sure what I have to enter in here. I have typed in the admin user name and admin password set on the xp laptop but this does not work, any help would be appreciated.
  3. I am looking at doing the same thing but opening ssh port 22 it is more secure as it provides you with authentication and encryption, bare in mind ssh version1 does not provide encryption where as ssh version 2 does. Im trying to config static nat on our pix firewall, havnt got a clue on what command I am supposed to enter as it is different for the routers.

  5. if you are a cable suscriber your bandwith decreases if more customers are added to that pipeline but if you are ADSL subscriber bandwith decreases on the distance to the exchange. Check the status of your exchange if co-op have one. Im with talktalk and they have an exchange status checker this shows the status of your connection, tells you if your exchange is live, speed of your connection and the area where your telephone exchange is. If they have moved you to another exchange that is further away this could be the reason you are getting slow connection. Also if you are running a router make sure all the lights are lit green at all times, if the adsl light turns amber, you are loosing internet connection and you need to ask your service provider to boost up your signal, but before you do that try to change your telephone splitters that seperates your phone and internet signals. Remember some companies block icmp packets for security, so you would get a unreachable reply back. Hope this helps.
  6. hi does anyone know what command is used to configure static nat on pix firewall 7.0(4)? I want to run a static command so traffic comming in on 64.64.64.65 hits our private IP add 172.16.10.5. I know how to run the command on cicso routers eg. ip nat inside source static 172.16.10.5 64.64.64.65 but it is not the same command used for the pix, any help would be appreciated, thanks.
