If we're talking about photocopiers, what's wrong with the count that the photocopier keeps in it's logs? If users are forced to enter a code when sending a job to print, then it will also log those as well. Should be able to view it through the web control panel also. Edit: ahh right, should read the post properly before posting. The internal copier counters should keep track of all the pages copied, the size of paper and whether it's duplexed or not though, it's somewhere in address book management I think. Doesn't seem to be on the Web Image Monitor though unfortunately.

Been looking for proxy's myself. It comes down to you need an app to do it I think, but I haven't found one to do it yet (but then again haven't looked to closely as of yet with other things going on at work)

I ordered mine on a Wednesday night and got it Monday morning (because it got stuck at the DHL depot in Manchester over the weekend) so you may be very very luck and get it Friday

Spent the weekend playing with it and using it from the search bar on th desktop got great results, practically everything found I searched for, directions, numbers in address book, places on the map. Using the voice dialler for some reason didn't have the same results, don't quite know why. Most of my contacts it picked up, trying to get it to dial a number (something as simple as 453 for my balance for example) it didn't get, even though when I said call 453 on the search one on the desktop it went and searched google for call 453 without a problem. Overall pretty impressed, just a little disappointed about the voice dialler, but knowing my address book works from the desktop I'll just use that instead.

If the user isn't an administrator of that workstation, you either need to add your staff group to the list of remote desktop users of that machine, or the specific users you want to be able to access it remotely.

Don't RM also provide the SIMS updates as CC3 packages? I never used SIMS and CC3 together so never looked at the updates on the support pages, but it might be worth checking out?

I've had a quick play with it and was fairly impressed, most of the locations I searched for came up and call voicemail always worked, picking out contacts though is a bit iffy though so going to have to try and work out what it thinks they are. The weekend though is going to be time for much experimentation though!

How about with OWA? Are they still hidden from there? If they aren't then it would suggest that Outlook has a filter imposed on it that is hiding emails.

Doubt it'll make any difference, but there's a SIMS .Net Infrastructure update package you could try installing as well, download available here: Capita Education Support Services (about half way down, dated 15/05/08). Was told you don't have to install it, but includes .net 3 or 3.5 (can't remember which) and some additional fonts and other items which SIMS uses. Others probably have a better idea about how to solve it then me though.

My 1st touch screen phone in all honesty and I haven't had any major problems with the keyboard, just the odd missed key when typing a text but actually the Nexus One picked up the mistake and corrected it anyway. (spent 2 hours updating contacts on it first night before I realised once I had sync'd it with gmail I could have done it all through the webpage, oops) I'm impressed and very happy!

Got mine today, and it's just finished it's charge! Off to have some fun! And the battery life does sound great!

It's an interesting point and makes me a little sceptical about the engadget article. I thought the whole point of the way google was selling it was you buy it through the google site and then pick the plan you want, whether it be contract with the likes of vodafone or sim free and then you pick? If that's the case then surely it will be the same device with the same firmware? Anyway, I need to wait for my credit card to clear before I order one, couple more weeks I guess.

If it's joomla 1.5 (don't know about 1.0) you can go into the configuration.php and just change the closed variable and that will save you having to get into the admin console. Just make sure you check the permissions so that you can write the file back again (defaults to read for all) - caused me 10 minutes of confusion

The bursar was quite willing to pay for Capita to come in and do ours so I just filled out the order form. Since Capita had a problem getting dbattach to work properly after they migrated SIMS to a new server over the summer I'll let them go ahead and do it and save me having to spend hours trying to get it to work properly. Also gives me the comeback of everything on the server is your doing at the moment so you fix it which since it's my first time dealing with supporting SIMS I'm quite happy to have at the moment.

I think it would probably be Right click on a folder > Archive > Choose the folder > Archive done > Right Click Archive Folder > Close "archive folder name" > Move Archive Folder.

Both network cards had 2 ip address each so could be the plan was to team them but never got round to it. Got no indication of how long it was set up like that unfortunately. Possibly an old servers IP, iwll see if I can find out anything more. Cheers

I've fixed IIS as that was causing a problem, will go check our proxy now and see what addresses that is using.

Morning! Gradually on my cleanup of the network I've now come to something which I was putting off because I expected it to cause problems. The natsy multiple IP address on a server problem. Don't know why it is set up like this currently, but since it's caused me problems recently it's going to get undone and we'll see what else breaks! Currently my DC's have 4 ip addresses each, 2 on each domain controller I could understand as a remnant of a network merge at some point but I don't understand the other 2 on each DC. So I would like to get the DC's down to 1 ip address each. Anything I need to watch out for while doing this apart from ipconfig /flushdns and /registerdns to make sure that DNS gets updated? I've got this problem with an Oki C830. It goes offline after about 30 seconds on the server, but connecting it via tcp/ip on my workstation it works fine.
