I can't remember the exact details of the Stone offering and don't remember if I wrote them down at work or not. I do remember thinking that they seemed a pretty decent idea and might be a way of getting some of the older computers replaced temporarily to try and get them included on the next lease when it's up for renewal. I think, although could be wrong, that the refurbished warrenty was a NBD (that's the bit I can't remember entirely) exchange if anything went wrong with it, rather then the engineer comming up to it.

No one really knows. It was originally assumed that Gingerbread was 3.0 then rumours started circulating that it was a Minor update like Froyo and that Honeycomb was the next major update and was therefore 3.0 - I don't think it's ever been confirmed which is which.

Wonder if they made some minor tweaks to the phone before they started selling to developers when they closed the web store. Still seems odd, can't imagine what differences there would be (or what would stop us from installing it on a stock Nexus One?)

Think I got my last lot of batteries through either Cumbria Supplies or YPO - were Procell batteries but were £1/£2 per pack cheaper then CPC (Every little helps!!)

Yeah, Steljes told me that when I phoned up and complained to them that all 3 boards had exactly the same fault, including the one which we had taken straight out the box and not even mounted. (Hungary had only recently started producing them at the time so they were a little worried to say the least).

I don't think moving between 32bit and 64bit should have any major affect on the DB. I occaisonally take the latest backup and restore it to a Windows XP virtual machine for testing/training use and have never had any problems crop up that I can think of.

Oh, that must have changed recently then. I still have it running on my XP desktop at home. :/

Hi Anyone able to help me out with this CommandReporter error? I've created a report in SIMS which will pull the entire school roll, medical conditions and then Contacts 1,2 & 3 and send it to a csv. Works perfectly when running from within SIMS, but when I try to use the command reporter to automate the report I get the following: Error Running Report. Reason :A column named 'Forename' already belongs to this DataTable. Any ideas what it is it's complaining about that needs to be changed/specified because I don't understand it? Edit: DUH! Bit of logic and it makes sense. Contacts have Forename and Surname too! SIMS kindly named the heading Forename and Surname so renamed all the Forename columns, problem solved!

I didn't think you could do the licening on concurrent users?

Make sure when you Install SQL 2008, if doing the Full Install, that you set the instance to run as the Local System otherwise can cause issues with B2B tasks.

I had a problem with a corrupt recovery partition on one machine the other day. Used EaseUs Disk Copy to copy from another machine in the same batch without issue. EASEUS Disk Copy: Free Disk Copy, Disk Clone, Partition Copy Software. Sector by Sector for hard drive backup freeware.

Haven't had it with HP, but had an Oki which kept going offline, but this was Server 2003. Had to remove the driver completely (Oki sent a utility across to do it), reboot the server and then try again. Think I ended up doing ti twice in the end, but haven't had any problems since. What pointed it at the driver in the end was installing it on a workstation using the same driver and settings and not having it go offline, although re-reading post don't know how viable that would be for you to do.

If you download the ESS Upgrade utility from Capita Education Support Services (Link is under the latest patch) and run it, log in to the Database as if you were going to do an upgrade and then click on Tools. It should then show you the log file sizes and give you the option to truncate them if I remember rightly. Can't check right now, but made a point of asking the engineer who did our Migration how to manage it.

Played with this on my test data for 5 minutes today (all the time I had to sit down in my office) and I think, if you alter the filter to select a year group, it might filter out those who have left. Not ideal, but might be a solution? It might not even work, the data I was using was from just before term started so probably won't have refreshed it's self properly for the current academic year.

The document I got through, assuming SimpleSi got the same one, says that Cumbria are going to have the changes applied starting from October and the date for Lancashire has yet to be finalised but is expected to be completed over the Autumn term.

Just a quick question, where did you install Solus 3 to? I noticed the Handbook has Program Files, but my install defaults to SIMS\Setups. Any right way to do it, other then making sure not to run the InstallerGUI from the S Drive?

Ok, panic over Just brought up 2 Servers today to see what would happen, leaving the one which started everything last time shut down. After 5 minutes or so everything kicked into life, so replication is required with only one server before AD will start. *phew* Now I can go back to planning the rebuild of the server with peace in my mind.

The way mine is set up at the moment is that the computers are allocated to a security group, there are then two preferences for each printer in the user section of the GPO. One which updates the printer if the computer is a member of that security group and one which deletes/removes the printer if the computer is not a member of the security group. The GPP is then applied to the User OU and, touch wood, hasn't caused a problem so far.

That could explain the issue then, they were off for over 24 hours and it could just be the DC it tried to pick to validate it's self again was the last one I fired up. I had a phone call yesterday morning to say they were going to knock the power off again over the weekend so I dashed back in and shut the whole lot down again. I'll try putting one of the other servers up before the server that holds the FSMO roles this time and see if it will validate with just 2 DC's. All the FSMO roles are held by the 2008 R2 DC which was added arround May Half Term. Once I've brought them all up, I'll maybe try changing them to use 127.0.0.1 as primary. Thanks all, I'll see what happens on Tuesday when I'm back in to power them up and thanks @Psymon, seems like it is normal behaviour to an extent.
