[android] Anyone else having problems with KitKat on the Nexus 4?
Cache replied to Dos_Box's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
My battery usage certainly seems a lot more then it was, but not noticed any other issues... -
It could probably handle the %'ages but the last time I looked at it I think you had to reconfigure all of your Aspects in some way. Maybe need to sit down and look at it again.

I'll try marksheets then if I get chance, I just wish assessment was more flexible.

Basically, I want to take All Subject results for each student within the Autumn Result Set, take it out to excel, calculate whether they are currently achieving 5A*-C inc English + Maths, 5A*-C in any subject, C+ in Maths, C+ in English. So what I setup was the report with Student Name and then using the Red Icon created a filter for each result which linked it to the correct aspect and the Autumn Result Set. I couldn't see anyway of pulling multiple Aspects through for a single result set and having come out into individual columns. I've achieved it manually through a marksheet, excel and formulas, I just wanted it accessible to anybody at any time automatically. I've just found the Assessment Analysis book and missed the appenidx which means I might be able to do most of it in a marksheet, it's just a shame that if I can that it wouldn't be accessible to everybody at any time without granting an excess of permissions and huge raft of un-necessary information to people (where as running through the SIMS .net reporting it would be). I should have taken a screenshot of the broken report, it would probably explain it better, attached below

I've managed this in a variety of ways. You can try a repair install / manual upgrade if the upgrade has failed to work by exporting the agent installer from Solus 3 and running it on the local pc. Sometimes I've needed to specify a log file location sometimes I haven't, it seems to do as it wants. To reinstall a system that isn't working at all, I've taken a copy of the Solus3 program files folder, uninstalled the agent, checked the service has been removed, reinstalled Solus3 manually, stopped the service, overwritten the Solus3 program files folder and restarted the service. Amazingly Solus3 repicked this machine up ok, however it is such a faff I don't think I would do it on a regular basis. I only had 5 machines with major Agent problems after doing the 3.6 update.

Perfect, thanks both. I hit another snag today in that there is a limit to the number of Sub Reports you can have within a report. Therefore, me wanting to extract and process the data automatically for 20 subjects means I can't do it (SIMS spit's it's dummy out with a varchar/numeric error after 11 subreports) unless someone can suggest a better way then basing it on the Student?

Assuming we're the same exam board and your talking about the practical exam, the resources for it should be available from 6 January.

Evening all 2 years ago now I created a report in SIMS that sent some data out to excel, did a bit of formatting, did some fancy sums, created a little table and set a print area. I was very pleased with my self. Now, I need to produce something far more advanced however I can't even remember the basics of where to start in creating the report. I used to have a copy of the Advanced SIMS Reporting guide however I can't find that anywhere either. Can anyone help me out by either telling me where I have missed the starting point for creating my report or able to send me across the Advanced SIMS Reporting guide? Thanks

I don't know sorry, all I can come up with is downgrading to Java 6, otherwise I would try contacting the Exam board and saying your using Java 7 and this doesn't work, what do they want you to do. It must be something to do with the coding of the applet.
-
What version of Java are you running? I know in school I've stuck to Java 6 Update 43, at home when I try to open your pages I get an error that Java Security is blocking the applet and that is using Java 7 Update 45. As you've got it working on one machine, does that machine have an older version of Java installed on it? (We have a similar applet, our code uses clock.gif however, not that that will make any difference) Edit: I can see your using Java 7 Update 45, be very interesting to see what version that workshop machine has on it. You could also try installing either an older version of Java 7 or the last version of Java 6 and see if that helps?

[sims] SIMS gradually getting slower and slower...
Cache replied to Olliesaurus's topic in MIS Systems
Just to update mine, after leaving it over night from doing the reindex patch, everything has been working reasonably well again since. However I know that in 2 months time this issue will definitely crop up again. -
Connecting Outlook to office 365 via Smoothwall

How do you set the proxy settings? Might be worth trying this as it was what was causing issues for us: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/cloud-services/124386-office-365-outlook-connectivity-through-proxy.html -

I'm having the same issue, very noticable with reports where today we are back at the situation we were 2 months ago where all reports say they are going to take a long time to run. Going to try a server restart tonight, if that doesn't help then it's the reindex patch again I guess! Edit: Server rebooted, reindexing patch applied - still can't run any reports wihtout it saying it's going to take a long time -
Possibly, it was the 29th when I called.
-
I spotted I have exactly the same issue the other day but as it was just a test machine I've not go any further into researching it. Thanks for the fix!
-
Yup I had the same issue when I downloaded yesterday, I was told they rebundled the migration tools and the password got changed (but the news article hasn't been updated). I had to call the service desk to get the password (and don't have it too hand at the moment sorry).

Call from Microsoft about upcoming projects? Suspicious?
Cache replied to sparkeh's topic in General Chat
I have had a call direct from Microsoft around the time our EES was due. I was very sceptical when it came through however an email later it was genuine. I have had the we're phoning from HP company though, they have been crossed off my list. -
Does the PC boot up ok if it's started in Safemode with Networking? The only time I've had this it is when I have rebuilt a few pc's and Sophos does something to stuff up the network driver so it perpetually waits at Please Wait. The solution was to run netsh reset winsock within safemode and everything else carried on as normal after that.

SIM's Net Points in Student Behaviour Management
Cache replied to Steven_Cleaver's topic in MIS Systems
You could try a report based on pupil and then use from within that the Student Conduct Information, however I have a vague recollection of some part of extracting behaviour (either incidents, achievements or net points, can't remember which) not working correctly. I might be imaging it though. -
What version of IE 10 are you using? x86 or x64 I might be going down the wrong track, but I had issues with a 2008 R2 server and IE because I'd set it up to automatically create a desktop shortcut for IE9. What I forgot to take into account is that on a 2008R2 server, Program Files contains the 64bit of IE which sometimes had issues. Modifying the GPP to exclude the terminal server and setting up another preference for 64bit machines pointing to Program Files (x86) fixed a few problems for me.
