I have spent the morning trying to find information on how App-V works and how I would implement it. I can find very little information so far. The questions I have are What do I need to install on where? I Installed SQL 2008, Microsoft System Centre Application virtualization Management Server, Streaming Server & IIS on a server 2008 box. Desktop Client on a Vista machine. So I think I have all teh software in place, I am just very clueless how I go about getting an app onto the server & then onto the client. If anyone has any help it would be aprreciated.

Are email notifications enabled by default? Is there any configuration you have to do? I have followed the instructions in this thread and I am able to send emails using the command line but Nagios is not sending any emails when services go critical.

Sibelius was just an example I have not tried to do anything yet. What software/hardware do you need to get started with App-V?

We have multiple applications that rely on services provided by different servers to run. An example would be Sibleius requires a license check before it loads the application. When we change the license service to another server. We then have to tell the clients that this has changed. Sometimes this is just a registry change that can be done in a startup script. The aim is to have a place where as many applications are installed as poissible. And for users to use the centrally installed application rathere than the programme being installed on every machine in the school.

Does anyone use TS RemoteApps internally to be an app store so you dont have to install on all your machines. Does it work out well doing this or would you recommend just installing locally?

nevermind, in trying to get remote access to my isa server from home I restarted the ISA server and now it works. Alex

We dont use SSL for OWA, and I have set up another publishing rule for activesync on ISA2006. But still not working, I cant seem to get my head around why. I will go through what I have done hopefully someone can point out a fault Set up a DNS record for mobile.myschool.net gone into isa set up a publishing rule for exchange 2007, set up non SSL security, internal site name is our exchange server, accept request for mobile.myschool.net then chosen external as the listener and allowed all users. In exchange I go into the activesync tab and on internal URL I changed it from HTTPS to http://HTTP://exchangeserver/Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync

Thanks for those links but they seem to be a bit confusing for me. We publish OWA already over the internet, would I have to add a new certificate for ActiveSync? I am not sure how it should be set up in Exchange first, then IIS & finally ISA.

Does anyone have any helpfull guides on how to set ActiveSync up from scratch. So that mobile users may connect to the server through ISA using their mobile phones that have this feature.

We have a print server on Server 2008 x64, I can not for the life of me find a 32 bit driver to install as an additional driver that will work. Most ask for the original 2008 media for ntprint which means it is not working. Can anyone help I have tried close to two dozen drivers now. It is for a Xerox Phaser 8560DN

Has anyone had any experiance with moving the solidworks license server? I have installed it on a new server with a different name and IP address, but the port is the same. Now I need a way to point all my clients (about 200 of them) to the new server. I have had a poke around the registry, and the files but I cant see where that information is stored.

You put the server on both VLANS using the NIC software to create the VLANS on the NIC, then on the switch tag the port the server is connecting to on both VLAN's. If your doing VLAN's with little knowledge then you have a bit of research and reading to do but let me know if you ever get stuck.

All our boarders are in a seperate OU, the ports in their rooms are on a VLAN, the wireless is also on the same VLAN. On our web filter set up a rule to stop their Internet access after 10pm. They have prep time from 6pm-8pm so we have a seperate rule which says during those times they are not allowed on facebook, msn all your time wasting internet activities. Kids with laptops still authenticate through ISA so they still go through the web filter.

dmesg says a lot of things, not sure exactly what I was looking for but I tried dmesg on a terminal with the usb NOT plugged in, ran another terminal with it IN and they are exactly the same.

Have tried in ubuntu, BartPE Winternals, UBCD & it does not show p in device manager...

I have been handed a Kingston USB stick that when plugged into any machine recives power from the USB drive (The LED Flashes) but the computer does not see it, does not come up in explorer or diskmanagement. Is there any hope of getting the data off using any kind of obscure methods?

I have found my way to the page with the web part. I have clicked on the web part, it highlights the whole web part I go up to the toolbar, change (Default Size) to say Large (18 Font) and nothing happens
