It's our school open day today, and as it kindly fell on my Saturday I have to be here all day (usually school finished at quatre to 1pm). Im enjoying myself reciving emails from people who have left thigns to the very last minute. Watching all the good kit get brought out onto the lawns and such. Mini busses getting a wash down and everyone looking smart. I do like these days as a break for normality.

Not really, I can add all authenticated users, but then that just add's everyone. I want to be able to add individuals to sharepoint. So I can give special permissions to certain people be it staff or pupils.

I am a complete Sharepoint newbie and I just installed WSS 3.0. I think I will figure out most of what I want to do. However I am stuck on adding users. I can go into People and Groups and add individuals, groups. But I want to do a bulk import of all my pupils and staff. I can talk to AD fine for example I added the 2009 pupils OU fine, and can log in with any user in that OU in sharepoint. But I dont want it to be just a "pupil" group and a "staff" group.

We use two seperate terminal servers, only staff account's can log into one, and only student accounts into the other. Seems to work quite well.

We chose to do it with two ip addresses because of the setup we want. One address and url is for a group and another ip and url is for another. We want them seperate in as much of a way as possible.

We have one of our ISA boxes publishing our email and accepting and forwarding email, also publishing a terminal server for staff on its default port. Now we want to bind a second IP address to the ISA's external card and set up a rule for the second terminal server to listen on the second IP address. Earlier in the day we tried but it caused everying to not work. And emails were not incoming. We added a second IP address to the NIC, in the ISA protocols added a new network with the start and end address being the IP address. another rule for the second IP address. And changed the two published terminal server policies to listen on the new network we created instead of just "External". Not sure what went wrong and why this didnt work?

I would think they might go up in value in a few years, not by thousands. But we once sold an old Acorn on ebay for £220, and an old Acorn User Guide and Windows 3.1 disk for £60.

Just wondering if anyone works in a school that is a licensed testing center, and does testing internally. We do ECDL testing which is done online. And as its over the internet can sometimes be bogged down by other traffic. Does anyone do anything specific like a dedicated line, stop web traffic at testing times and such.

Hi I remember once using a little application that you could enter the I.P address of any servers or switches or any I.P address you wanted to monitor. This app would give you a visual green light if it could ping and a red light if it could not. I wonder if anyone has anything similar?

I did nuke her desktop because it was a school one and she should of saved her work to the network share. However she is not to happy about me doing it to her laptop. It may be the final option but looking at every avenue first. I will give bitdefender a try.

Have a case of a bad infection of Badsrc-C which has infected a teachers laptop and she has bought into school. The process tab shows several unusuall .exe files and others running like Zero.txt blank.doc, Sophos has not been able to remove it and their sav32cli shortcut is unable to open the boot\bcd. Looking for help in removing this virus if anyone has any great tips. Also the virus likes to infect any .exe you try to run.

does anyone have any good links for guides on how to go through the steps of setting up a terminal server. We are using it as remote access to the network through the web connection. the exsisting box is old and I am replacing it with a new box and a clean install except no one here set up the original box.

We are moving Ghost Suite onto a new server and are struggling to find any documentation about how to move over the licenses and register the serial number. Does anyone have any experiance of this?

Got it all working nicely, apart from in calendar on the highlighted the there is an orange to white gradient which I cant find. I wont to change it to purple to white.

Have been looking into customizing our OWA theme for exchange 2007. Have found many how to articles such as Customizing the Look of Outlook Web Access Wondering if anyone has successfully done so, and really what enviroment did they first create it in so that they wouldnt break anything.

The one I have chosen to do the FdSc Business Information Technology and Networking. Is part time two nights a week for three years and is £800 a year.

Its at the university of bedfordshire. Am doing it part time because its in the evening and have just started a great new job that I want to continue with. So I get to work all day in our 3 man IT department and go to uni in the evenings only twice a week. I already have my Network+ and it seemeds like a good way to conntinue.

Just wondered if anyone has gone through university to do this degree. Its a possability for me to do at my local uni. Two nights a week for three years. At the end you get your foundation degree with the option to do the final year for your BSc degree. Over the three years as part of the degree you also pick up as a requirement the A+ Security + CCNA and MCSA. It looks good to me ltho very time intensive and hard work.

I will be giving the reset a go on the last day. It was no installed on a critical server so hopefully aslong as I can get it back once I have sorted the product key out (struggling to get funding for it) in september.
