We are looking into putting in wireless networking, and rather than doing it Ad-hoc we are looking at a whole system in one. The NetGear sSmart Wireless switch looks good, for 16 access points, but I dont know if anyone has had any good or bad experiances with them? Or perhaps not NetGear someone else, like Cisco? But I imagine Cisco will be alot more in depth perhaps beyond our needs.

Apparently there was a missing file that was not included with the patch, phone WCBS and they will email it to you and tell you which folder on the server to copy to. They just remote into our server and it took less than 20seconds to fix.

With XP and im using the CD it came with, just doesnt load up the windows installation once it has copied the files.

Hi I am having a problem with a toshina A200 where im doing a format of the hard drive and using the recovery CD to load it again. The CD copies its files to the hard drive, asks you to eject the media then click okay. I click okay and the laptop powers down, i power it on again and the windows xp blue screens and restars and just goes through this loop. I cannot get XP to install because the files are lost once it powers down. I cant use my XP cd because it cannot detect the hard drive through the XP gui install. any ideas?

If anyone is interested I will share my experiances so far with my Foundation Degree. I have just finished my first module which was Oracle & SQL. Basicly it was Entity Relationship Diagrams, Tables, Keys and so on. Not the most fun I have ever had but it was okay. There were two assignments and the two came together to give me a grade (B). After Xmas I will be doing System Analysis on a Wednesday evening. Alsongside all this is the networking portion, which is the CCNA. I just passed the final exam for Networking Fundamentals. Three more exams until im a CCNA, and needs no extra study, altho as im doing a degree I had to do two network assignments.

Perhaps authentication is the wrong word but yes clients just need to be able to talk to the clickview server by whatever means. Also as another plus point of Clickview Exchange is that there seems to be about a dozen people who are able to spend alot of time with their libraries. Staff often email in the morning saying they saw a programme last night they want to show kids. And rather than going through the last 17 hours of recordings and doing it manually there seems to be someone who has already done it, and I just click Import from whatever school tkaes my fancy on that particular day. Oh and then take all the credit. Cheers if you are one of those Schools!

Im not sure, I will check tommorow. We have a clickview server as a standalone box so the box would at least have to authenticate with the server.

I have a School wallpaper that is set in an OU called pupils which has all the pupil accounts. This GPO sets the desktop which is in a shared area. Have recently created a new OU with compputers in for a new suite, I would like the wallpaper to be different in those PC's so created a GPO setting the wallpaper I would like and enforcing it so its the last GPO thats read. But any logons always set the wallpaper in the Pupil OU and I cant figure out why. I am thinking I may have to resort to a logon script which I dont really want to do rather keep it all in a GPO. If anyone has any nifty logon scripts for setting the desktop they would be handy.

I would say good on the School and the Courts for making a stand, hopefully a few teachers will sit up and make an effort and get out of their "I cannot be sacked" bubble. Altho from the article I belive there must be more to it, I know a dozen teachers who fail to plan lessons and cannot control children.

I said I will go elsewhere for the reasons I stated, I dont want to share any information about where exactly I work or my name. Ill practice what we preach to kids about internet safety. The exsisting forums cover pretty much everything, a good example would be a post I made yesterday asking about exchange. I asked a question, walked away to return later to find the answers I was looking for. I thanked the person for his time. And when I have time of my own I try to help others with their questions.

I would not share any sensitive information with anyone no matter if they are verified or not. And I dont wish to give anyone my place of work name, school number and full name. If I have to go through that prosess to discuss problems and find solutions I will just go elsewhere that requires no more hassle than registering. My opinion

Ash Many thanks for your help, both suggestions worked great thank you. When I highlight more than one user and right click properties is not available, is there another way to do the mass disable OWA? There are about 600 users I want to disable temporarily.

Hi I would like to do two things and am looking for opinions on the best way to do so. First I would like to disable a selection of users (example would be the 4th form) from being able to access outlook web access or their email accounts from outlook. The second would be stopping certain users from being able to email distribution groups. For example we want pupils to not be able to email the "all pupils" distribution group. Any suggestions?

Clickview Exchange is pretty neat aswell, if theres a Show you missed you can do a search and see if any other Schools recorded it and added it to the CLickView Library then you can import it. We import alot of stuff from other schools all over the country
