We have decided to put 6 x 750gb disks in using RAID 0 on windows server 08. Now I did want to put them all into the RAID but as that would create one disk, and no partitions can be larger than 2TB I end up with one partition of 50gb another of 1999.17GB and 2143.64GB of unallocated space that I can do nothing with when I right click. Idealy I would like one partition that is 50gb and the rest of the space in another partition. I have looked into GPT instead of MBT but I cant figure out how to make it GPT from the install, only on another seperate disk. If anyone can help I would appreciate it. Alex

So internal users go to one website, external to another? But they are actually just the same site?

internal is http://portal extetrnal is http://sp.domain.co.uk both have AAM set up Internal users who go to http://portal no longer authenticate when anonymous access if turned on.

I have a basic knowledge of sharepoint in that I have picked things up as I have hit problems. The whole site has had not really any customization other than title changes and icon changes. It is currently running great internally, and is published externalyl through ISA which works okay. But what I want to do now is publish the site with anonymous access enabled. So that when people hit the URL they see the front page without a log in. I went into CA and authentication providers for the site and enabled anonymous access. This works okay in that it lets people see the site externally okay, but it also does that same internally so that when anyone opens up the intranet they have to log in. Where as without anonymous access they are logged in automatically. Is there anyway to fix this?

Hi we an announcement list with a wep part for it on the front page. By default it shows the date it was created/modified and a 'By' which shows the user who added it. I would like to get rid of these two bits of the view if anyone knows how. When you go to edit the view all the colums are greyed out and youc ant untick them from showing.

I have been working on this problem on and off and still having no joy. I have narrowed it down to when I deleted the timer job stsadm -o deletessptimerjob It has not recreated. Does anyone know how to recreate the job?

[CLIENT: ] Been trying to fix this all morning but to no avail.

I did a /iisrest after stopping the service, then again after i started the service again. All services are running as they should. What I havnt tried is restarting the server but imw aiting till a good time.

I am in my SSP, then User profiles and properties this is where the rror comes up in red lettering.

I have not checked my profile import for a while, so I cant say exactly when it stopped. But I wanted to do a full import. And for the past few days I have been having problems with the import not working. It just stays on Satus: Enumerating all the time, no matter which account I use to do the import. I have tried several suggestions one of them being make sure Account operates as System is unticked in application management. But to no avail. Really need some help if anyone can!

Hi Hightower Doing what you suggested cancelled out about half of the login windows, I go to the url i log in, then asked to log in again which I do, I get to the default homepage, I can browse the other sites without logins but if I return to the default homepage I am asked to log in several times again. Plus I really cant get away with asking all parents, pupils to add the site to their proxy settings from home.

After many hours of frustration I am reaching out for some help. I have a sharepoint site sitting on a WFE server called "adam" and the site is called "portal". internal DNS points portal to adam, and internally it works great. Registered a dns name of something like sharepoint.school.area.sch.uk Went into ISA and set up a sharepoint publishing rule, was set up correctly as it is said on several how to's sites ive looked at. Would not work at all, then I disabled Forward the original host header. Now when I browse to my url the authentication box comes up as usuall, then it starts to load the page, I see the title in IE, then it asks to authenticate again, then again, then again and just keeps asking to authenticate. Is there something im missing?

I think I have made a mistake by trying to add a new recive connector to exchange 2007. To use for sharepoint incoming mail. However when I went into Server configuration > Hub Transport > New Recieve Connectory. I went through the wizard Gave it a name of "test" for Internal, left the IP addresses at the default 0.0.0.0 - 255.255.255.255 then clicked new. Since then I have had problems with things like photocopiers that send to email can no longer connect to the exchange box using the fqdn only the IP address. And a few little glitches. Is there a way to reverse these new connectors?

Please make sure that all your wall sockets are numbered correctly to the patch panel, so you can easily tell what port on a switch a device is plugged into. If I had a pound for every time I have had to go through the process of looking in a MAC table on a switch to find what port the host is on I would not need to work. Apart from that VLAN is quite interesting to set up and quite easy to maintain, if anyone needs screenshots of DHCP or of a switch set up let me know ill see what I can do. Also I see that alot of people are suggesting 192.168. addresses. We use 10.x as our VLANS and it makes it very easy to ID which VLAN a machine is on and what it should be on. 10.1 is default 10.3 & 10.4 are staff, 10.5 & 10.6 are pupil and 10.10 are admin.

Every room is air conditioned for the summer aswell as having heated flooring during the winter. And its a public school so no grants.

I could potentially open all the windows in the building sitting at home, but they dont open wide enough to be of any real risk of someone getting in. The management software does allow you to set school times so that the windows stay closed during holidays, sunday and evenings.

Ours has to be when we got a phone call from a guy telling us he was coming in to network the windows in the new building we are having built. We thought this must have been a prank call, but sure enough when we went over to the building all the window frames had a NIC and cables had been run in the inner wall. So after a few months of laughing about about it we finally say them in action and each window has an IP address on a subnet and a central server bolted to the wall in our comms room. The Co2 sensors detect Co2 and opens the windows if it goes over a certain amount. A certain temperature opens the windows, and due to the position of the sun the windows darken. All we can think of is this is such an unneccessary waste of money.
