  1. I would like to create some forms for sports fixtures (one for each sport & team) so that a games teacher can open up sharepoint go into a folder with all the forms. Have that form open up in a web browser for them to fill in the opposition school, times & pupils. On submit publish this to another SharePoint library as a read only type document. And preferably on submit of the form let them print it off straight away. Am I being too ambitious or does anyone have any helpful tips?
  2. Been playing with it for about 5 days now. Just finding it a great deal easier to do the majority of things. However the more complex you want to get it still gives you no help.
  3. thanks somabc, Could you give some detail about the number after inactive and limit? I assume in your example 8 means it will show any computers inactive for over 8 weeks, and no limit ont he number of results?
  4. does anyone have a safe peice of software that will query active directory and generate a report on computers that have been inactive for over a period of time.
  5. Damn I was supposed to do assignments this evening, SharePoint time!
  6. Are you doing an upgrade using the 2010 beta or has the rtm been made available now?
  7. Unfortunatly SQL was installed in windows authentication only and it is unknown which user has the sysadmin role. We have tried a few steps to add a user to the role, one of them being start in single user mode which we have done but when 'sqlcmd' is started it says an administrator is already connected. As no account has the sysadmin role we can not change to windows and sql authentication which means the sa account is disabled.
  8. Hi Alex, Thanks I winged it earlier this morning and have verified that both are updated. I did have one strange thing. I ras WSS SP2 on the WFE server first of all and when I went to do Office SP2 it said it had already installed. But on the database server it required both.
  9. Been trying to find a good guide on what steps need to be taken for installing SP2 on Sharepoint. I have two sharepoint servers and I think I need to install the Sharepoint Services SP2 and then the Office Servers SP2 but I am not sure and then there is some information about a psconfig to go through afterwards but I need to know what do do beforehand if anyone can help!
  10. I am making a basic remote desktop server for users to connect to and I have set up a profile all ready to be the profile for all users. But I can not find a way to make this user the default user in 2008 R2. I have read up that you need to use sysprep but can not find much detail was wondering if anyone had a better step by step guide or could quickly give a rough guide.
  11. I was abe to create a logical drive larger than 2TB using the HP SmartArray tools. Thanks for all your suggestions but I have come in this morning to find none of them have worked. As the issue revolves around the need for security settings to be copied, a NAS box & a large volume of data I have decided to fire up an old ML 350 and put a lot of discs in that and use it as a backup box. Will report back if this works. Only needs to last out until the summer.
  12. I did dig deeper and select folders but unfortunatly there are hundreds of them all equating to 1.8 TB
  13. Yeah thats the problem, it needs to be able to do permissions
  14. I had thought robocopy was working but it works only once and backs up all the data to a share on a Thecus N8800. But when it runs again it just sits there doing nothing but continues to run until cancelled. I can't get Windows Server backup to work it just spends about 4 hours scanning the drive then when it comes to backing up files it goes "The version does not support this version of the file format". Not so helpful as there are not a lot of options so I can tell if its the server or the NAS with the problem. The robocopy script is just copying a folder from the server hard disk to a share on the N8800. When it is run to an empty folder it works, but when the folder has data in the script hangs. I am really struggling to backup this drive using any method.

    Visio

Just been looking at the new Visio 2010 website and saw a cracking idea on a floor plan but I have been unable to recreate it. Does anyone know how to do the dollowing screenshot with the floating floors?
  18. Yep we applied it via the windows update.
  19. I am trying to use the group policy editor to deploy printers based on the OU of the computers. This is working okay in windows 7 but not in XP. I have added pushprinterconnections.exe to the startup script, and applied a windows update I read was needed somewhere. Does anyone else do this that can think of anything I may have missed?
  20. If anyone has got ActivSync working on Exchange 2010 with iPhones please let me know.
  21. Was hoping to limp to August when my car would be 10 years old but it didn't make it. Repairs would of cost £600 so I part exchanged it on a 2 year old focus. I don't think scrappage would have lasted until August anyway.
  22. Just wondering what template people are starting from when they create the first site collection? I am not sure if I like the publishing portal, but dont think I want a team site as my top level.
  23. Does anyone use this peice of software that I could ask a few questions to?
  24. In 2007 when I go to the roles under Server Configuration only the 2007 servers are listed. So 2010 is currently running Client Access & Mailbox, but only the 2007 box shows up in 2007. In 2010 only the 2010 box shows up. Yes SP2
