To be honest, I think this was the main reason they've done this. It's a much easier decision to move from TR to Ferrari than Red Bull to Ferrari.

To be fair, this isn't an issue purely with KFC or fast food/takeaways. The moral of the story is anything that has been in contact with other people has potentially gone in contact with a whole manor of different things. Cross contamination from a huge number of different sources. While it seems and is disgusting, it's nothing new.

Personally, and this is just my two cents, I don't see an issue with the pay within schools for IT staff. Whilst it's great to have good skill-sets and technical skills, the issue with schools is the staff budget is by far the most important thing in terms of cost to a school. IT, whilst great, is not the be all and end all to schools. We are there to help process and facilitate teaching and learning (and whilst I can't deny technology is playing a bigger part in schools, it's still down to the way you teach it and integrate it into schools). You can still teach with poor IT resources, good teachers will learn not to rely on it. The public sector, (certainly in education) doesn't work anywhere near the level of the private sector. We don't directly generate income, we can't have an increase in staff cost offset against increased revenue. For better or for worse, you can't easily just create new roles in schools to retain key staff like you can in the business world. The problem with schools is that people rarely move around. If you get to the level of network manager, you tend to stay in one school for a considerable amount of time. This means there aren't many opportunities for normal technicians to step up the mark within education. The offset of this is we have longer holidays, generally less stress, guaranteed pensions and, for the most part, less working hours. It's all good and great comparing to the private, but I've got quite a few network manager friends working in that sector who often have to do 12+ hour shifts a day to get stuff sorted and to meet deadlines. For me, these outweigh the extra money that could be got elsewhere, you can't have your cake and eat it.

The thing with carpets is you can quite easily go into a carpetright style shop, choose the type of carpet you want and then find it half price elsewhere on the internet, same with underlay. Get a carpet fitter from the yellow pages to fit it and bobs your uncle.

Depends, really. The idea behind some of these schemes is to cut down on other costs. It'll cost as much to provide each student with Chromebooks as it would to provide new computers or laptops for classroom use. If you factor in that a 1:1 scheme means that every student can use the resource in every class, it becomes almost like their textbooks/exercise books.

What I've heard about the help to buy isa is that it's incredibly complicated once your in a position to use it (Well, not for you, but for your solicitors looking into it). Expect to be paying them a bit more for the privilege for the all the various forms they need to fill in to actually release the money. (Don't hold me to this, only what I've heard from other people looking into them)

It depends, really. I've got a little Hyundai i10, picked it up brand new almost two years ago now for £7k. I'm paying it off over 5 years, but I still expect it to be worth about £2k after that (assuming it's still in good nick), which means the real cost to me is about £1400 a year (including the interest). To me, that's worth it for relatively trouble free motoring. 5 year warrenty means anything that goes major wrong I should still be covered.

We don't tend to even touch these things, to be honest. We get asked what's a reasonable laptop for XYZ money. We forward on a link and then give the boxes to the students. Doing anything other than that just causes more hassle than it's worth. Even then we have problems (someone reinstalled windows 7 home edition with a cracked CD key given to them by a dodgy back alley shop)

Windows is still key in any office environment, I'd say. Whilst things might be going towards cloud based systems, I'd say Office365 will still be the go to app for business environments. Too much legacy stuff still runs on windows, you'd never be able to get rid of it completely (just look at the numbers still using XP, for example).

Seems I last played WoT back in september. I'd be half tempted to get back into it, but I'm not sure if I can be bothered really. I'll still log in occasionly to derp around in the Hetzer/PZIIJ/Pz.Kpfw. B2 but I just can't get back into the grinding... I've got enough of that to do in WoWS.

I'd either go down the pre-built route or the fully buy all the components separately route. That PSU isn't a particularly good brand. Given you can pick up reasonable ones for about £40-50 these days, I wouldn't risk it.

Looks pretty good, although this has been done for quite some time. (Not quite the flashing bells and whistles like these, though). I used to work in an NHS centre where they made prosthetic limbs. Anything like this to help children particularly is good in my books, given the issues they face.

Goes on sale almost every time steam does a sale, so every 3 months or so. I believe I picked it up for a fiver some years ago, it's good but you need to keep using it to get anything meaningful out of it.
