We've got this working by using Google Chromes Group Policy template and adding the download directory in there. For us, we've got it mapped to their normal user drive, that already has a mapped drive letter. For use, it's U:\ ${user_name}_Downloads, it seems google doesn't like general system variables for username and instead prefers to use it's own version. Not sure if this will help or not, mind you.

I wouldn't work for any delivery company like that. I had a friend that did it in university. Had to use his own car, fuel and all that. You'd need business insurance on your policy and the amount of wear it puts on your car can soon take it's toll. Combine that with loosing a large chunk to begin with on tax, you'd soon end up making almost nothing for all that extra effort.

The problem is each individual school would need to put it past management. There is no one-tick solution for everyone's needs.

I don't know, I've been running it as my home OS for some time now, (Was looking to go above windows 7, wasn't a fan of 8 or 8.1). I think I'll be most likely continuing on as someone on the fast ring, I've not encountered any major issues and I have the skillset to fix anything should it arise.

I just found that (Well, certainly lower down the tech tree), the US battleships are just too slow and unwieldy to be properly used. You pretty much have to go straight down the middle and not stop to get anywhere near close enough to shoot anyone.

I'm playing it myself, but I don't think I'll be going down the carrier and battleship lines this time round. (Certainly not with the US battleships, anyway). I quite like cruiser and destroyers, however.

The banks needed to be bailed out for a reason, else we're led to believe they would be in a world of pain and everyone will suffer. So to prevent a banking crisis, it needed to be done. The question here is how long do we wait until the price goes back up (If, after the PPI scandals, the Libor rate and everything else, they ever will recover to a reasonable amount). With how banking is changing to be less risky and all, I can see the prices never getting to that level. Better off just selling it now and reclaim something, we'd have to do it eventually anyway.

Shocking news, but glad the teacher in question is stable.

He's lived a good life... done more himself than 30 of us would want to accomplish I'd say.

We had something similar, what we had to do in the end is also tick the box "Bypass spam filters for messages received from addresses or domains within these approved senders lists." Add your own domain into this and it'll allow the email to be sent, but it will also come up with a message "This email has bypassed the spam filter on your administrator request" (Or something along them lines.

One of the reasons I've got a dash cam I'm afraid. All it takes is her word against yours to have months (if not years) of legal battles over who is at fault. (Obviously in this case, it's clear cut. How could you not see a tank driving towards you).

As has been said, get one that doesn't need the fan on during idle times. I now mostly go under water with my builds, but before then I'd mess with custom fan curves to get it silent when I want it and to be loudish when I wouldn't notice it.

It's a tricky one here. As has been said, most people fall into a one of the 4 main groups. Can't do it, won't do it, does it and knows it. Can't do it are the people who just need a bit of prodding and support but will generally get on. Won't do it are the bunch that just aren't inclined. The old saying of you can lead a horse to water but you can't get it to drink. Does it are the silent majority who just gets on with the lessons. Annoying, I've found these to be the group that is less likely to report faults, they'll just crack on without whatever it was that is broken. Knows it are the people that are technology driven. Regardless of whether or not they kick up a fuss or ask too much, these are the group I tend to pay the most attention to. They are the ones that will drive up IT in education and are the ones that are likely to help out supporting IT in general. (We've found that having IT literate teaching staff leading CPD sessions is better, because they are the ones that actually know how it can be focused on education and can give good practices. I can stand at the front and show them the cool stuff, but it's little use if they can't then apply it to lessons).
