Yeah that's right, there is no restore currently in HVBackup. The Backups are stored in a single ZIP file (one per virtual server), which when extracted can be imported back into Hyper-V manually (using Import Virtual Machine). Or if you prefer, you can mount the VHDX in Windows and browse the contents.

Does anyone use HVBackup or have experience of using this at all? If so, you'll probably know it's Open Source. I've made a few modifications to it to suit our needs and was wondering if anyone would like to test it out? I am just looking for a few people to try it and see if it works on their setup. It's currently only tested on Server 2012 Hyper-V. The notable added features are the following: - Added GZIP Support (added by Pablo, on the HVBackup Forums) - Added GZIP Password (added by Pablo, on the HVBackup Forums) - HVBackup no longer responds to Command Line parameters, instead it reads all information from Settings.ini located in the same folder. - A GUI has been created to configure the settings, add servers, change formats, zip type, compression etc. - A Scheduler has been added to the GUI which allows you to Schedule HVBackup's via the Windows Task Scheduler. A couple of screenshots below of the new GUI I've created: If anyone would like to give this a try please feel free to PM me. I can also send over the source for HVBackup for you to compile too (as it is LGPL License) If you have never used HVBackup then please make sure the original version works first before trying this, I haven't changed any of the 'core' backup process, so if the original one doesn't work for you, this won't either. Usage is the following: 1) Extract the ZIP to a folder on your Server. 2) Launch HVBackup Configurator GUI and configure the settings. 3) Set Scheduling in the GUI OR just launch HVBackup.exe manually. 4) Hopefully, watch the servers backup! Please don't be testing this on any production servers, whilst I have been testing it and had no issues, that doesn't mean that it'll be the same for you. So if you do use it on production, it's your own fault if something goes wrong. Looking for some feedback. Thanks,

[sims] Extracting SIMS progress data to display on Intranet
SteveM555 replied to Theldron's topic in MIS Systems
You could run a nightly report and schedule it using SIMS CommandReporter to automate the process. You would have to do all the analysis yourself and the generation of the visuals. -
What do you think of Impero? Using it in school very shortly?
SteveM555 replied to connor_ict's topic in General Chat
By far the best product on the market for remote administration. The GUI seems fine to me, haven't seen much lag. However, we do have 1 issue that support wasn't able to resolve - Only 80% of PCs will actually Disable Internet or Lock Screen.... -
You would of thought it would be a simple field in the properties? Nope! I used the method described here to change it: MDT 2010 : Adding Your Branding To Windows 7 Installs - About QA – the UK’s leading learning company - QA

Make sure you change both x86 and x64 (in the dropdown at the top) And then "Update Deployment Share" - If you're using WDS to load the LiteTouch image you'll need to re-import it.

Is your email through your LA? or another provider? We signed up to Office independently... Oh and another thing to mention, currently the OneDrive client only supports files less than 2GB in size and less than 50,000 files. Hopefully they'll look at this next.

We also have the free Office Plan and have 1TB per user, not per account.

Also as +1 for Cat5. Have it installed in the office room at home and I wouldn't go back.

Would you recommend securus?
SteveM555 replied to dany2010's topic in Network and Classroom Management
Where would we get those? By contacting Impero, or are they on the site somewhere? As for Securus, same as everyone else says it requires a lot of attention - We had it for years before Impero. We also experienced "pushy" sales talk when told them they were not renewing, even tried to go over the NM and contact other staff. -

Sorry for the hijack! But for the people who use Veeam.. Is it licensed per VM host? Or if possible would you mind sharing a rough figure of costings £100-200? £500+? £1k+ etc.

The form doesn't submit without entering a phone number... How is that a lie? They're not exactly going to ring up and see how you're doing, they want to sell you products.
-
"Phone number must be filled in" Incoming sales calls!! Arghhhhhh. Nice socks though.

I would love this. I've got a NAS sitting here that could host all of the games that I am "getting around to" and just install when needed, rather than waiting hours to install.

It doesn't half get some hammer!

Intranet - Wordpress behind Smoothwall
SteveM555 replied to chinesewhispers's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Go to: Guardian > Web Filter > Exceptions and add the IP Address of the web server. On the webserver set the default gateway and DNS as the Smoothwall IP. Should be good to go with that. -
Web filtering in small primary schools?
SteveM555 replied to Blue_Cookeh's topic in How do you do....it?
If you are feeling brave, you can setup a pfSense environment with Squid3/Dansguardian. You will have to source and setup your own blocklists, whitelists etc. and will take more setting up and management - However, it is a free solution to consider. -

Impero Education Pro question - No suppliers please!
SteveM555 replied to Koldov's topic in Network and Classroom Management
Ver 4.1.11 - Around 800 machines, 30 day report and I cancelled it after an hour of running. It was stuck on "Please wait.. Displaying report" -
We run SIMS Emerge on iPads and Samsung Galaxy Tab 3's... Not had a single issue with it since installing (around 8 months). The actual app is extremely user friendly and fast - The app is free to download on both iPads and Androids and click "Sample Data" and you can have a look around it without actually trialing/purchasing.

Impero Education Pro question - No suppliers please!

Thanks - A daily report was instant, seems to be taking a while (currently 5mins+) to generate a 30 day report though :-) Will be interesting to see what it says. -

Thanks! - Totally blind. I've been on the settings page but just ignored the Reports tab... Doh. -

Where is this?? Just check our Impero Education Pro and couldn't see Power Management or Reports? -
+1 for Impero! Our School is a long time Impero customer and it's great. Nothing else comes close (that we've tried)
