We had heavy rain showers and thunder from between 6.30 - 8.30. Sun is out again now and nice blues skies. Also a lot less humid than it was. Hope it's like this on Friday.

Well, no classes turned up this afternoon so I enjoyed the air-con all by myself. I've turned it off now, though, so I can gradually acclimatise myself to the hot air outside the IT suite before I go home in an hour.

For this year's 'Last Night of the Proms', the BBC is creating a 'Virtual Orchestra' to play Bizet's 'Toreador Song' from 'Carmen'. The music is available to download for a whole range of instruments at varying levels of difficulty. Upload a video of yourself playing, and you may end up performing before millions of viewers around the world. I may just try to see how many different instruments I can learn to play it on.* (*or I may just relax and spend my summer doing something less taxing!)

This coming Friday (22nd July) is officially the first day of our school holidays. It just so happens to coincide with Hawkshead Brewery's Northern Craft Beer Festival. I'm travelling up on the train from Liverpool for the day. Any Northern Geeks care to meet me there?

It's not too hot; it's just too hot to be in school. I really need to be sans apparel, but I don't think that's a good idea right at this moment! I mean, even my knees are sweating. I resisted the urge to turn on the air-con this morning, but it's going on very shortly before a class comes in and all the PCs get turned on.

One of the Year 6 teachers has accidently saved a blank document over the script for our Leavers Celebration on her Mac. I have absolutely NO knowledge of Macs. Is there any way I can recover a previous version of the file if Time Machine wasn't turned on? I'm not holding my breath...

Sounds to me like its a time-travelogue that was written in the 50s by someone who had visited C21. Also, if it's called 'Predestination', wouldn't we already know how it ends? :cuckoo:

Long story short, report it as a trademark infringement and also highlight the potential child protection risks. @elsiegee40 and @esafety_officer were particularly helpful, and pointed me towards the Professional Online Safety Helpline. Hope you get it sorted quickly. EDIT: Important!! Don't do what Instagram suggests (and what I did) and 'reach out' to whoever created the false accounts. Worst... mistake... ever!!!

Unless you are using a different Smoothwall system to us (which is highly likely), when you first log in to the admin portal there should be a section showing Recent Blocks, like this: If not, go to the web filter logs and check there. You can search it by time and IP address to narrow it down. This will show you any blocked URLs that you can add to your list of allowed content.

The easiest thing to do is check the Smoothwall dashboard for recent blocks, as the content may have a different domain name to the main MyMaths site. Also, have you 'allowed' or 'whitelisted' MyMaths?

Are you the Adam I was sharing dog pictures with on the AD/GP course, or were you on the desktop course when I actually had to take her to the training room because I forgot that I couldn't just leave her in the B&B after I'd checked out? I've just checked this and, sadly, they're not taking new applications. That said, £1000 for 10 days of excellent training is still a baaaargain. Putting the words training, certification, ANME, discount and Neos into the same sentence makes me all excited. This HAS to be a thing. Don't build me up, just to knock me down now guys and girls.

+1 for NEOS. It would depend on whether you wanted actual qualification training, though. Their desktop and server courses cover most of the content for the MS exams, but they are presented in more of a 'This is how you would do it in the real world' kind of way. They are based in Worcester but also run courses at different venues around the country that you may be able to join. They also do a massive education discount and you can claim up to half of the cost back through a Tech Partnership training grant. I'm hoping I can get back down there at some point this year to do PowerShell and Hyper-V training. Edit: Clarification of training discount/Grant - I had 10 days of desktop/server/AD/GP training for £1000 and school was able to claim £500 of that back, which more than covered my accommodation expenses.

Is there any reason you are using NB11 specifically? Using any version of Smart Notebook on non-Smart hardware requires the purchase of an additional licence (with the possible exception of the online Smart Notebook Express). Surely it would make more sense to use the latest version of Smart Notebook, which is covered by the same licence and is actually designed to be used on a broader range of hardware (allegedly).
