  1. Sounds like more hassle than it's worth, to me. I really don't think I'm going to bother... at least not for the time being.
  2. Just as the government announces that all schools will be forced to become academies within the next 5 years. Coincidence? I think not.
  3. Basically, what he said.
  4. OK. Now THAT requires a knife and fork... and several other people!
  5. Hmmmm!! Think I'll wait... just for a bit. Feedback would be appreciated.
  6. That's bad news. I don't use it very often, but it's a handy tool to have in your kit. Hopefully the maps will still get updated, though.
  7. I'll just leave this here...
  8. Our Year 4s are making Photo Stories and I was asked about music they could add to their presentations. I did a bit of research and came across AudioNautix. It's basically cheezy muzak - but it's searchable by genre, mood and tempo. What's more, it's all covered by Creative Commons Licence. Problem solved.

  9. I could have chosen option 1,2 or 4 depending upon option 3. Basic burger - hands only. Slightly more elaborate burger - I'll try and use my hands only. Huge multi-layered thing with increased risk of slippage - I'll use a knife (and only a knife) to cut it in half so that I can attack it from a different angle. Bare in mind that I also have the additional challenge of navigating the facial hair that covers the space where my mouth hole should be.
  10. If you do manage to get hold of a motor, here is a video that shows you how to replace it. It's based on an ED-A100, but I'm hoping it will be pretty much the same for the 111.
  11. I'd be quite happy staying on Denim, to be honest. I'll be gutted if the 10 update spoils it.
  12. So what do you think, @LeMarchand? Personally, I think it's great - much better than my old Lumia 625. It's the first time in AGES that I've really taken to a new phone straight away. I just hope that I still like it as much after the impending Windows 10 update...
  13. Well... So far, so good! Not quite as big as I'd feared (still fits in pocket), but big enough to make me glad I opted for the XL over the normal 640. Very clear screen with smooth scrolling and fast response. Watch this space...
  14. Wow! I wish I'd seen that! More detail in this video.

    I'm off

All the best, @jamin100. I'm sure you'll still find Edugeek helpful (and welcoming) even if you're not working in education.
  16. Right! I've just ordered the 640 XL. Got a good price from @VeryPC and, as I'm ordering a few spare parts for school, they're shipping them together to save delivery costs. Winner! I'll let you know what I think in a few weeks once I've had a chance to play around with it.
  17. You wouldn't steal a car... ...even if the headteacher told you to!
  18. Curiously enough, I'm about to convert a bedroom into a bathroom.
  19. It was a common issue with the 625. Just holding the power button on its own would perform a soft reset. Nokia/Microsoft did nothing to solve the problem.
  20. I can't find the 640XL in a shop to take a look at. I may end up just going for the normal-sized 640. I have one more question, though. Does the phone still reset itself when the screen-lock button is held down, or have they rethought that? The number of times I've had my 625 vibrate in my pocket, reboot and reset the date to November 2014 at 5.25am...! Grrrrrr!
  21. Thanks. I'm not sure whether to go for the XL or just the normal 640. While I like the idea of larger screen to see things more clearly (and the higher camera spec), how on earth do you carry something that big around? I don't think it would fit comfortably in a trouser pocket.
  22. @LeMarchand - Did you ever get the 640XL? If so, is it any good?
  23. I wonder why we say still say oxen, but not foxen or boxen?
  24. Contemptible - The ception that disproves the rule. I'm glad to find that I'm not the only one who finds themselves playing about with words in their head*. There have been some great posts so far. 'As well' - That's another one for me. I understand it in the context of comparison, e.g. 'I can swim as well as my brother', but not when it's used to mean 'in addition to', e.g. 'I'm going to have a starter as well as a dessert.' Also, when did people start saying 'aswell' as one word, with the emphasis on the 'as' - 'I'm going to the cinema, aswell.'? *Should that be head or heads? Collectively, they will have more than one head; individually, they will only have head.
  25. Then we'd better start cussing things instead. The thread doesn't have to be entirely prefix-related, though. It can about anything (not MS) word related that makes you think, 'I wonder why/what/where/when/who/how/if...' I refer you to my original question about sheep/shoop.
