Exactly - and Smart Tech's Privacy Policy states (as quoted above) that No personally identifiable information of individuals under 18 years old should be submitted to or through our Services without the consent of their parent or guardian. I know I have a tendency to (mis)interpret things literally; that is why I have asked for clarification from Smart Tech. I'm just interested to see what others think about it.

I understand that, but why does it need to know who isn't using the software? It's the permission to allow the app to access the profiles of all other users in the organisation that concerns me.

We don't use a seating planner app. I don't understand why (or even if) a Smart Account would even need to read the profiles of other people. I've emailed Smart Tech to ask them to clarify: •Under what circumstances (if any) would the Smart Account app need to access the Office 365 profiles of users other than that of the account holder? •Would the information obtained from these profiles be accessible to/collected by Smart, or would it be used by the app locally and then discarded? I realise I'm probably being a little over sensitive about this (or, more likely, have completely misunderstood the context) but I'd rather check to make sure.

So, we need to obtain consent from every parent (after ensuring they understand the terms of Smart's privacy policy) before staff can log-in to Smart Notebook using their school email address. Am I reading that correctly?

We've just bought a subscription to Smart Learning Suite at the request of our DH. Many of the features require that the users sign in to a Smart account with either a Google or Microsoft account, recommending the use of an organisational email address, so I have added all staff email addresses to the Smart portal. However, when I came to test it out, I was prompted to accept giving the app certain permissions. While I can accept allowing the app to access my information, I'm more concerned about giving it permission to 'read a basic set of profile properties of other users in your organization on your behalf. Includes display name, first and last name, email address and photo' considering that most of the other users are children. Perhaps I'm being paranoid, but what do others think about this?

Last night, however, I started to come round to the popular way of thinking; it really is a fantastic film.

There are peer-networking features though so you can collaborate with other students, as well as quizzes, simulations and games. It's not something I could see anybody paying the 'real' price for, but for £39 it could be worth a punt.

There is also this one https://www.groupon.co.uk/deals/career-match-1871 It's the same price (£39) but as well as the three MCSA Server 2016 courses, it also includes the MCSE Server 2012 and Office 2016 courses, too. Very tempting, I must say... Edit: Exams not included, by the way.

A week after the main event, I awoke yesterday morning to heavy snow falling and a couple of inches layering the ground. It came totally out of the blue (well, grey) and caught us completely unprepared. Rather than dig my car out and attempt to drive on untreated roads, I decided that I would walk the mile and a half cross-country to school...only to find it closed when I got there. Oh, well. It was a nice walk. I decided to make the most of the time and took Jess out for the day. By midday, the sun was shining and the snow was starting to clear. By 2pm, I was sat outside a pub with a pint like it was an ordinary spring day. Bizarre!

According to Apple: I'm not sure exactly where in the boot volume, they've kept that to themselves - along with how to choose an alternate location. I've noticed a similar thing with Profile Manager too. According to the Apps screen, there are 16 apps totalling 16.5GB - i.e. about 1GB per app. However, Garage Band is the only app over 1GB.

It's been snowing sparse tiny flakes here for the last hour or so. Looking out of my window, most of it seems to be travelling horizontally (and occasionally upwards) because of the wind. There are still a few remaining patches of frozen snow from a couple of days ago, but I can't see it having much of an impact here.
