I’ve been looking online for accommodation (I can’t be doing with the corporate aesthetics of a Premier Inn!) and the first recommendation for me from Booking.com was a bunk bed at Stonehenge Youth Hostel - in a female dormitory! There were a few other reasonably priced B&Bs a couple of miles outside the town (city?) centre but I found this on Hotels.com - Sarum College At £86* for 2 nights bed and breakfast, I’ll have to tighten my belt for the next few weeks, though. And I don’t know how I’m going to find my way to the conference from there. It must be a whole 2 minute walk away! Happy days. (*I clicked through to Hotels.com via Topcashback, so I’ll also get a rebate of at least £6.95 - enough for a pint or two.)

I managed to fix the issue... by accidentally deleting the organization (sic) from Preferences. I've now managed to restore one iPad to factory settings. I'm currently unable to download the configuration profile, though, but I think that's an LEA firewall thing.

@phbranson - I've found Apple Enterprise Support to be pretty useless in the past, so I'd rather ask the experts on EduGeek first. If all else fails, I'll give them a call as a last resort. Thanks for posting the number, though.

OK. I opened Keychain Access but there is only one Apple Configurator 2 certificate, which is linked to the Private Key and shows an expiration date of 24 Jan 2038! I've exported this to the desktop. The public key doesn't actually show any certificates, though. When I try to export the public key itself, the file format is Privacy Enhanced Mail (.pem) and I am asked for my username and password. Even though I have entered the credentials correctly, it shows: Should I delete both keys anyway and just hope for the best?

Thanks, @Brimstone. I've read that before, but the organization certificate hasn't expired - it is simply 'no longer in the Keychain'. When I try to 'Export Organization', it asks me to set a password, but when I click save it gives the error: The same message appears when I try to 'Export Supervision Identity' EDIT: Ignore the above! I'll read your post fully before replying next time! I'll try the steps you gave and then let you know what happens.

Oh, where to start with this one... I'm trying to restore supervised iPads with expired Device Identity Certificates using Apple Configurator 2, but it shows an error message: When I goes to Preferences - Organizations, it shows the correct name, Apple ID and school contact details, along with another yellow triangle warning: I haven't removed anything from the Keychain; I wouldn't know how to. Nor do I know how to add the private key for the identity. Any ideas, anyone? I really haven't got a clue when it comes to Apple. How I managed to get them all working in the first place is a miracle!

Thanks for the heads-up. It's fair-do's though, as the projectors have been out of production for a LONG time. I'm surprised they've supported it this long. We've had ours since 2009/10 and I've already warned the powers that be that we should be looking at replacing at least some of them. I just hope that they have allocated money in this year's budget...

Is the laptop connected to a Smart board, by any chance? I've had a few computers over the years that work fine until they are connected to a Smart board, then they start rebooting or suddenly powering off completely. Firmware upgrades to the board seem to fix the problem. Just a thought.

Exit Through the Gift Shop - Banksy's supposed street-art "documentary" about a guy who was making a street-art "documentary"...supposedly. Regardless of how much of it is based on fact, it's a highly entertaining film. Definitely worth watching if you haven't seen it before. And if you have... it's definitely worth watching again.

I've looked through the terms and conditions, as well as the acceptable use policy, and I can't see any mention of tethering anywhere. If I decide to go for it (offer ends today...apparently) I've got the obligatory 14-day cooling off period to test the speed.

Here's one for you. I'm currently paying £26 per month for 50Mbps broadband from Virgin. As of 31st October, this will rise by another £2 per month to £28. To be honest, I really don't think it's worth it. I don't use the Internet much at home other than to watch a few films (say 6 a month - 8 max) and the occasional bit of browsing. Virgin currently has an offer on a pay monthly SIM offering 100GB of 4G data, 5000 minutes of talk-time and unlimited texts for £20 a month. If I cancel my broadband and switch my mobile tariff to this one, it will almost halve my bill as I'm also currently paying them £10 a month for 2GB 3G data and 1000 minutes. I'd be interested in other people's opinions on this. I've looked over all the T&Cs and I can't see any limits to how much of the data can be tethered.

I went to a screening of the 1927 sci-fi classic 'Metropolis', at the weekend, complete with a live piano/keyboard accompaniment of a new score performed by the composer. Absolutely fantastic - at just £5 a ticket.

@DAS - Once the 5 year extension has passed, you will no longer get a replacement projector. However, in the past, I have simply emailed [email protected] to inform them of the problem and they have sent a replacement mirror motor free of charge. It's a fiddly job, but there are videos on YouTube that show you how to fit it. It's been a couple of years since I needed to replace any parts (cue them all failing in the next fortnight!), so I don't know if they will still have the part available, but it's worth a try.

Thanks, everyone, for your kind thoughts and words. I know things will get easier with time but, for some reason, I've been getting myself more upset during this last week rather than less. As I don't have any children or a partner (I've no interest in the latter, making the former somewhat difficult), Jess was a kind of surrogate for all those things and gave me an outlet to my nurturing instinct. I will most likely get another dog - I'm thinking around Easter - but I'll never have another Jess. We fitted each other so perfectly from day one; nothing will ever match that. I am remembering the good times, but they ultimately lead me to the trauma of 'that day' and all the 'if only's that entails. The one positive thing is that it meant I never had to make the final decision. Plans are afoot for a big celebration of her life with lots of the people who knew and loved her. Half-term would probably be a good time as it could get rather messy. @tg12 - I'm so sorry to hear that you have lost your Jess, too. I'm glad that the pictures I posted made you smile. @sippo - My thoughts are with you, and I hope that Treacle manages to make a full recovery. It's good that she has a family that cares about her so much and is giving her all the love and patience that she needs.
