Meraki is pretty advanced, it has even a few features that Profile Manager (Apple's equiv.) does not have. Meraki is your best bet. We all have to accept they have limitations and work around them (Only way to remove stock apps is to jailbreak)

Check who logged onto the PC last with the vandalised equipment, its very hard to usually use a PC without a mouse, so the last one logged on is the culprit+. We do that here and the kids know it, therefore they don't* vandalise because they know we going to nail them to the wall. *well its less frequent. + not all the time, but most the time it is.

You can via Profile Manager. I believe a book operates in the same way as an app - you need to buy it from VPP and then download it to the Mac, then add it to the iPad (via the Apps screen) But I am not 100% sure as we do our book pushes over the air.

All the machine info is pulled remotely from ONE machine using the website (I have translated WMI to PHP so I can do the calls in PHP)

Use C# and WMI to get the data, using the MySQL C# Connector to upload it and PHP to view the results. We have done the same here and it's pretty snazzy. (Client App always running on machines checking for things, app runs on login and logoff to record history and set logins etc) Client app also has a built in TCP stack for me to send messages to any machine, the client app has its own command structure so I can send it for example "takescreen" and then I would get a popup back with a picture of the machine from the PC i sent the command.

Add the proxy to the Schools WiFi Profile and remove the overall one, that way when they are on that internet connection they are using proxy and any other they are not. I wouldn't recommend it for a long period of time though, kids can connect to their phone hotspots and browse freely.

What a game! I do enjoy playing it because I am particularly nerdy. Very interesting results...

As a programmer it could be any sort of reason why, I look back on projects I did a few months ago and think 'why did I do it that way' - at the time it was a good idea!
