  1. Is it just me who finds 10061 annoying - like the action centre thing - they didn't need to change it to block colour! (And leave a horrible white border around it eww)
  2. Never had a "significant or major" problem using SOLUS3 here!
  3. I'm guessing: https://www.gov.uk/school-to-school-service-how-to-transfer-information https://sa.education.gov.uk/idp/Authn/UserPassword https://www.gov.uk/schools-colleges-childrens-services/data-collection-statistical-returns Its different in Wales!
  4. DfE closed teachernet - http://www.edugeek.net/forums/internet-related-filtering-firewall/152187-teachernet-gov-uk-does-not-resolve.html
  5. HMRC are moving over to GOV.UK using the same service tools...
  6. I really get stuck on my traffic management
  7. Meraki does not contact the device itself. Notifications are sent to Apple then Apple PNS (Push Notification Service) pushes it to the devices (Apple does not want to give people device access so all notifications are controlled from them). Not sure why it would be slow sorry.
  8. The state of government IT (As in the Cabinet Office, not the NHS) I would say is pretty postitive at the moment, GOV.UK looks and is a great website for people to use - they actually realised that things need to "look" good to be friendly to users. But voting responsibility* does not lie with the Government it lies with Parliament who issue writs and receive them back to declare, so it would be the brand new Parliamentary Digital Service who actually build it. *Registering to vote is responsibility of the Government. Actually voting is very different but it is Parliament who is responsible - the Electoral Commission only oversee elections (the management functions)
  9. Glad I saw this - was a question in a pub quiz last night, which I got right of course!
  10. E-Voting in the UK would not consist of electronic machines, plans put forward only indicate online voting.
  11. Legality? They would have to pass a law to get the scheme through anyway (or some secondary legislation) so legality would be covered. Morally dodgy.
  12. Cant get it to here either - would suggest its been removed... Try contacting someone at DfE
  13. This is why I am a fan of them and I hope we (school) will use them more and more.
  14. Consider it built! To be honest it wouldn't be that difficult here, we already provide students with their timetables via mobile app and via intranet, homework is all published online via wordpress so grab all that out, already use RFID readers so WIN!
  15. Just a poll lets not make this an entire thread about the leaders and how cool they are... ITV1 @ 8pm
  16. Thank you all for your fine responses. For staff we use a mixture of Mifare 1k and magstripe cards (we upgraded all our staff magstripe cards with RFID tags stuck on them to allow for contactless) for support staff sign in, door entry and various other goodies. Still looking at rolling out cashless school system* which of course then each student would be given one (also removes the stigma relating to FSM) - Got a few design ideas in my head but thanks to all who provided a design! * catering, trips, uniform, other payments
  17. That would be me then
  18. Hi all, Looking at ID cards in schools, all our staff have them already - looking at design ideas. Anyone willing to post their designs? Thanks in advance. - SR
  19. First time voting in GE, very excited to do so! I wish more young people were encouraged to do so! Would like to see voting age lowered to 16 but I am sure that is another topic for another day! Labour in our area never does well, Conservatives took it in 2010 with a large swing (Perhaps that had something to do with our Liberal Democrat MP being Lembit Opik... ) Have some sort of idea who I am going to vote for, but am waiting for candidates to actually come and knock on my door - I want to see them doing something! (Also heres my funny niggle - everyone in this thread keeps saying 'my MP' technically under the law, due to dissolution, till 18th May you have no MP or representation! )
  20. This will be all integrated into stock management so it keeps itself up to date, with the office staff adding to the stock level when new items come in - always open to human error I know. Interesting about trips is that we are making it so when the student brings his/her letter back they are then enrolled into the trip, this then shows on parents 'dashboard'
  21. Thank you all for your comments - we wouldn't be hopefully looking to move to an external one, rather our own built in-house system - keep being given feature requests and then wondering, does anyone else actually do this... Again thank you - some invaluable research here!
  22. Hi all, We are looking at the cashless schools route and trying to do some research: When opting into a cashless schools system like ParentPay, does it give the ability for parents to still come into school and purchase things via credit card or PoS style? If you currently use a cashless schools system, do you sell uniform through it? Thanks for any responses I get, its pretty tricky finding any information on this stuff. - SR
  23. 1x LG23EA63 23" - so nice I bought one for home! 1x DELL standard 15"
  24. Do you ever find it is slower? Just a general SQL question
  25. Same, I found it a nice design much more modern.
