Don’t do the CNAME bit but instead use “netdom computername server1 /add:oldname.domain.local It’s Microsoft newer method of doing it rather than through DNS

Think I’ve figured it. It does not work the way I want but I can then go and amend the permissions so others can email the group

I am setting up some Google Groups which are to be used purely for email. We want it so that anyone can email [email protected] and all members get the email. I have set the groups up originally as Restricted but now I am unsure if this will work. Can someone confirm? I looked at the other types of groups but all mentioned members being able to make changes that I do not really want.

Alternative to Active Directory server
snagrat replied to BistTech's topic in Network and Classroom Management
You can license InTune via OVS-ES at around £6 per user. Only Staff are require. We currently manage 800 machines for £600 a year -
Has anyone used a company to recover data from a broken RAID array? Most seem to offer a recover first before payment but wondered if anyone can recommend a company.

Ideal. And do you know if it’s ok on a DC? Smaller sites only have one server

I’m just about to do this. As I understand it I just go into the SCCM console and add a Distribution Point. SCCM then takes care of it all. Then I just copy anything I want to the new distribution point and away I go?

Used to be a bug where you would need a reboot action after the Setup Windows and ConfigMgr step. Try adding a reboot step

I originally went SCCM but switched to Intune so I could manage remotely. Unless SCCM has a web portal I am unaware of where I could do this.

Cloud hosted filtering and security award winners
snagrat replied to SchoolsBroadband's topic in Cloud Services
I must admit I’m starting to really like the Fortinet stuff, certainly when on a VPLS and VDOM. I do wish it was included without additional cost though, some schools just can’t justify the additional cost and end up on a shared VDOM which only SB can manage. -
Office 365 A1 Plus for faculty licences missing!
snagrat replied to CommodoreS's topic in Cloud Services
I would advise emailing [email protected] if you haven’t already and they can provide you with the correct steps to get A1 Plus. It may mean doing extra work to get you approved but they have helped me with many customers -
Office 365 A1 Plus for faculty licences missing!
snagrat replied to CommodoreS's topic in Cloud Services
A1 Plus is a combination of A1 and ProPlus incorporated as one license. It’s great when you get it but the only thing I can tell that it gives you over the A1/ProPlus combo is Device Based Activation -
And pretty much £100 cheaper for the 4gb model
-
As a reseller just got pricing through for these. You will be looking at around £500 for the 8Gb/128 model with a keyboard.

Just gives the user full control of the folder with the same name.

Save the following into a batch file, and then save the batch file in the same location as the home folders. Change DOMAIN for your actual domain. Then run the batch FOR /D %%G IN ("*") DO echo y| cacls "%%G" /T /E /G "DOMAIN\%%G:F"

Is the home folder called the same as their username?
-
Do you mind me asking how much the repair is? The Pro5 screens seem a lot more expensive than the Pro4s

Ruckus ZoneDirector 1100 boots to rescue mode after power cut
snagrat replied to wordy00's topic in Wireless Networks
I’ve had this many times with these units and each time Ruckus replace it even when out of warranty. You do however need to return to them in Netherlands I believe it is. It’s also takes some time to get a replacement but if you can get your hands on a free temporary one you can be up and running very quickly agaib -
Schools Broadband, Netsweeper and Single Domain
snagrat replied to snagrat's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Wow thanks. Seems like that will do it and if I read it correctly it’s just a registry change on each DNS server -
Schools Broadband, Netsweeper and Single Domain
snagrat replied to snagrat's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
I cannot see how I can do this via DNS as each site’s DNS will be the same. The only method to have authportal at each site is to name each one differently but that will require new certificates which SB provide -
Is anyone running a single domain across multiple sites/schools who use Schools Broadband and Netsweeper? I will be implementing this during the summer for 10 schools and am trying to figure out what I would need to do for the authportal to work. In my head I am thinking we will need to have the authportal hosted in one school that is accessible to all for authentication requests. My concern is what performance impact this may have if all authentication requests need to be served by the authportal. Any feedback on those doing this already would be appreciated

Is you Google account authorised yet for Education? 20 or 25 is the maximum users you can have on until it is approved.
