Netsweeper with Schools Broadband
snagrat replied to TMBS's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Will be interested if you get this working. We have it working but not reliably. Sometime Play store connects, other times it just loads with errors. Can not see anything is being blocked. -
I’ve been doing this at several schools lately. We are moving print servers (Papercut) to Azure as well and have seen no noticeably performance issues.

Migration 365 mail to Gmail MX record issues
snagrat replied to dougabrams's topic in Cloud Services
I can’t see this is a Microsoft problem, more a Google problem. Or even a problem with the recipients account. -
You could set their passwords to be the same and to be changed at first login?
-
Easiest way would be to setup AAD Connect so AD is synced to Office 365. Students would then use same username and password for email as they do for computer logins
-
Done this plenty of times. There is a script from RM to remove RM Unify. Then, assuming you are talking about AADConnect, it will use soft match to match the OnPrem user to the Cloud account. It will not create a second account
-
For AD Sync, look at https://support.google.com/a/answer/106368?hl=en
-
You can sync AD to Google, which would do this.

You don’t import admx files. You simple copy them into the PolicyDefinition folder and then they show in GPMC

I’m also finding that if a user logs onto a Chromebook they have used before, and the data is not set to be removed on logoff, then the apps do not always appear. Specifically this is when the Play Store can not connect. We are playing with ports 5228-5230 on the firewall to see if this helps but is causing some problems.

When we are deploying Android apps to Chromebooks it seems to install to the user account rather than device. Therefore if a new user logs in it has to download the apps again. Is this right?

The Solus3 migration is hard apparently. What’s your experience of that part?

I have a site struggling to run BBC Bitesize. It is not a filtering issue, the error states the content is not available in my location. Suggests they see the traffic coming from a different country? This is an example of a video we are trying to watch, although multiple ones do it https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zcvv4wx/articles/z9brcwx - the page loads and the preview of the video loads, but as soon as you press play you get the error. I cannot get onto a client device to fully test, but does this on the server which is completely unfiltered. I have tried a few different sites and they do work.

Schools Broadband In-line Filter down?
snagrat replied to snagrat's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Although I started this post, I still have positive things to say to our customers who use the Schools Broadband service. With the Fortinet and Netsweeper solution I feel we have a very good control over the whole network. We have had some Shared Lists created so can easily allow/deny sites for either individual or groups of schools very very quickly. The support at times could be quicker but today I had an issue with clients not using the correct group and turns out it was an incorrect client name on my part. Within minutes they fixed it and everything instantly worked as expected. Hopefully with the Netsweeper issue resolved the amount of support tickets will reduce and the team can concentrate on new tickets. -
Some do, but we are seeing it on printers that do not.

Does anyone else have issues printing from Edge, mainly PDFs. It also seems to happen when using the Windows Photo app. The document will not print and blocks the print queue which we have to manually clear on the server. We do advise to use Chrome but some people do not listen! This is without using any management tools such as Papercut.

I'll take your word its legit Thanks
