We have a separate email address for student and parent queries that go to our technical champions (from the teaching staff) who field 90% of them successfully. Genuine technical questions go to IT Support to investigate on a best effort basis. When needed we ship out a chromebook/MiFi device. The same reason people will pay extra for live instructor led training For whatever reason it is more engaging to have the SME in front of you, in real time. Adapting lessons on the fly is also a lot easier if you delivering live. Ask any teacher and they will tell you that preparing a good lesson is half the battle, its adapting to meet the pace of your class that makes up the rest

Agreed. I have seen all sorts of setups and SIMS is never, ever "fast". Someone once (possibly on here) pulled out some of the queries and/or code from SIMS and even to my untrained eye it was a mess. Dead tables, queries that never return anything etc. Also IIRC some sort of backward compatibility for the likes of Exams module, old System Manager users and NOVA-T

I clearly meant if the person with the device goes into a meeting and therefore isn’t going to answer their phone. As someone else said, more holes than a sieve. Get a proper man down alarm or don’t do it at all. Scripts, Android watches, PBX scripting, signing in and out, bosses having to check daily messages, uptime checks...it sounds horrible tbh
