Extended ACLs are awkward...take some testing and checking. Glad it's sorted

Last time someone bought a PC in for me to look at it was full of spyware and viruses that i'm assuming came from the HUGE list of pr0n sites in the browser history.

I would have suggested thinkpads. But they're expensive.

Ask them whether they're using standard or extended ACLs. It maybe that they're just being lazy and not bothering to work out the more complicated ACL that does what you want as opposed to spening an extra couple of minutes working out the extended ACL.

Hmmm. With extended ACLs you should be able to setup what you're after. I've not had to play with ACLs for a couple of months now but i'm sure you can do it. The Cisco IOS is pretty flexible like that. Unless of course there's something i'm missing to do with the FTP protocol

I've been looking into it but I cant find any suitable software / devices for stress testing a network. I want to put my switches and routers on a test network under a heavy load to see whether it's possible to alter configurations etc reliably and to determine different effects of various introduced faults etc. Also to see wether my kit can handle it. Does anyone know of any suitable software / hardware or something i could produce myself maybe with several network cards to connect to different points on the network then some way of creating load. All our desktop PCs were from stone. Absolutely awesome. Their phone and on site tech support is great too. The phone hold music sounds like a dodgey blue movie, but they're still great!

It was always a bit of an indifference in my school. There was ICT and ICT services...from what i could tell it was the actual ICT department that controlled the funding and did all the whistle blowing which wasnt liked as much as ICT services. We were the cool guys! Anyway, yes there's always a sense of "hatred" when you fail to fix something or have to take something off someone, that typical "chuck the toys out the pram" scenario, of course if they make a fuss it's going to make the suppliers work faster *rolls eyes*. Down to the wire, ICT services were liked when stuff was working but god help you if anything ever went wrong. I recently bought a reconditioned thinkpad t41 (not lenovo model an actual IBM) from ebay. It is the best machine i've ever had. It's been upgraded in the refurb to have gig of ram, new battery and new lid+screen. I upgraded the 30GB hard drive to a 120 myself and it really is the best laptop i've had. £300. I can wholley recommend IBM/lenovo. Although, the lenovo keyboards arent as good as the famed IBM Thinkpad ones.

I think you can setup a call parking system on asterisk. 3CX might do it aswell but i'm not sure. I'm no expert on VoIP so that's all i can really say

Use DVD Decrypter to copy the disk onto your HDD then "auto gordian knot" to convert it into an AVI.

Have you looked at 4oD. You can watch various programs free and rent out the ones that have been out for a while etc etc. Since i went to university i stopped watching television firstly because i'm too cheap to pay for the license and secondly because it's mostly crap anyway and i've got better things to do with my time than watch tv But...saying that...various things and be downloaded fom t'internet.

With enterprise you can have two separate global address lists. We did that so that one was for students and one for staff (i think.)

I use at the most 2 desktops in linux. There's just no way i can be buggering about trying to remember where i put things. It's inefficient dont you know!

BTW, i'm only working to 2.4GHz not 5GHz and have no plans to switch at the moment. Again, that is assuming i know what the cable loss is (including the SMA connector) which i dont.

Hmm everything is measured in dBm on a lot of sites and i dont have that information about my antenna. I've just been told from a website it's 20dBi. More research first though.

OK. So from what I can gather. Directional antenna's ARE legal (because i cant find anything that says they arent) but power on all antennae using the 2.4GHz frequency is limited to 100mW. So what i need to find out is the gain of all the components before i can go on the web and try to find the calculations that tell me whether it's legal to use this thing i've now got sat on my bedroom floor lol. It says it's a 20dBi antenna. But whether that's before or after cable and SMA connector losses i dont know.
