I've got a couple of mates who are beta testers for Skype and got the new 3 Skype phone and get credit and stuff to test them out etc. They text one of the lines for a laugh so I'm told.

I'm REALLY not hot on the licensing...something I need to pick up on I think...especially seeing as my industrial placement which starts in June is going to mean me taking on the Software Deployment responsibilities (oooh fun). But yay for returning to the education sector eh! TS Licenses...are those per seat or per user? My understanding is that you tell the server you've got so many licenses and when it reaches that number it stops letting people on?

Probably wouldn't fit in our server room. We'd have to convert the VI Form centre I think in the interests of shortest distance for power transmission.

The websites seem to point you in the right directions to me. Troubleshooting is a similar process in most applications as to networks. Check the physical layer first...so that'd mean checking your cables and cards etc and all the connections where weak points might have occured. You could check what your windows event logger says incase there's hardware issues to do with the SCSI controller failing etc or something. With regards to the mess in your cupboard. Have you had easter yet? If not then it'd be an ideal time to down the network and get some order in there!

So is the TS part of Microsoft Server 2k3 the more viable alternative for thin client networks for say a suit of 30 thin clients? Presumably remote access to applications from home isn't as easy if this route was the one I went down? Or would a user just use MSTSC to connect to a session? Also licensing. How would that work with TS?

Is there anything on the Wiki about what you need to start a thin client network? I know that it is something that is interesting to me and something that I'd possibly like to look at. So the kind of thing that would be useful to know is what part the Citrix presentation server plays, what you get to provide desktop environments and stuff to do with licensing. I've always found it hard to find a good authoritative source of information about TC networks on the internet The most I've ever managed is LTSP and that's not really appropriate for what I'd want to do with application presentation.

I've got a FreeBSD box that was, up until recently, running Apache (including reverse proxying) mySQL, Nagios, Cacti, irssi for constant IRC, BIND for DNS, DHCPd for...well it's obvious isn't it? and some other stuff. It's about to be "decomissioned" so i can do some testing with DRBD and Linux-HA all being well I've got a windows 2003 box too that is going to be taking over the FreeBSD side of things running on a VM probably quite soon and it also runs uTorrent web gui (it's much better than TorrentFlux and it's varients) for RSS downloads, AD, DNS for AD, VPN stuff for site to site between my house and a mate's it also acts as a remote entry point onto the network via MSTSC

I've never used an n800 so I don't know what it's like on there but it works lovely with multi touch. I'm with Sylv3r though, no objections on the change means it zooms out less.

It fits on my iPhone fine. But iphone and ipod touch do a lovely thing with multi touch. Zooms out so it all fits on and then you just zoom into the bits you want.

I'd be interested in getting that code too Maybe a nice RAR or Zip archive with the pages and everything in?

Reverse proxying isn't a big deal and isn't that complex. I use it on apache so that I can forward http to my windows server from my FreeBSD one that's running apache so that I can access the web torrent's gui without forwarding another port (seeing as I've filled the NAT list in my router i can't forward any more). I use it for a few other things too... It's relatively easy to setup, it just involves a few extra modules and a virtual host config. I use this: #VHOST BIT ServerAdmin [email protected] ServerName cname.domain.tld ServerAlias cname.domain.tld #PROXYING BIT - NOTE THE SLASHES AND WHERE THEY ARE AND AREN'T ProxyPass / http://internal_address/ ProxyHTMLURLMap http://internal_address / ProxyPassReverse / http://internal_address These are the modules I /think/ are the important ones for reverse proxying. I've got them written down somewhere as I can never remember which ones you need to do proxying and which are used for name based vhosts etc so this list could be missing/including one too few/many. Have a google for this bit to check. headers_module proxy_http_module proxy_module proxy_html_module alias_module vhost_alias_module

On my iPhone I always seemed to get the mobile skin. I'll agree it's not the best but it allows me to read the replies to stuff I get e-mailed about and that's all I really need when i'm out and about. Anything more and I'd use my laptop (although it's dying on it's arse )

If you've got your iphone legally through o2 and are using the o2 contract then the cost of edge is inclusive.

Maybe the name was intentional...frustration and all..........so i've heard. But yes check cables on fans...dying fans (don't forget the PSU!) hardrives are a big issue. Any tapes stuck in drives maybe causing an issue? I've heard floppy drives (God...dead technology) make a similar noise in the past too.........

I'd mention the raised floor idea because then you get the tiles that have the cable holes in and then the cost of the raised floor but the advantage of the modular design. Raised floor also offers modular design for power access with power rails being sub-tile too.

God can you imagine the number of rules in an ISA list. You're better off doing home dirs on a linux box and just going cname.whatever.tld/~username such has been suggested already. Yeah someone wrote something for me a while back which could be damn useful for me to integrate into an intranet (seeing as i don't know how to script/program) was written in php using sockets to check different services...i can even define none-standard ports for services etc.
