So i can find out straight away if the motheredboard is in working condition, rather than fiddling with it for a while. The other day a computer came in, powered up, no display no beeps. I fiddled with it for ages, taking parts out - and trying to narrow down the problem. Turned out to be the motherboard had gone.

Morning all, Is anyone aware of a device I could purchase which tests computer hardware, I want to test motherboards without plugging all the parts in and powering it up. Is there such a device?

Google it first, best way is to have a project. How about setup a helpdesk?? Liberum is free? Just reading through threads doesn't always stick, if you have a goal - then hopefully your keep working at your project until you achieve your goal! I've always found practical experience is the way to learn for me, reading books just isn't enoguh!

eBay is always a good shout, your school is likely to have loads of old computers lying around in store cupboards, as they have to pay to get rid of most of the old stuff. So are usually happy to get rid of it for free!
