If you can get down to BETT then they will all be under the same roof on the same day at the end of January. That's what I did last year when I was evaluating cashless catering and could compare like for like, bounce questions off each other.

For us the wifi is fine, it's the USB devices (biometric reader and pin code devices) that are hit and miss. USB on the tablets clearly isn't plug and pray, if either device is even fractionally out of it's socket the till doesn't recognise them unless you reboot. Annoying yes but over time just something you check before turning it on

We went with NRS over Cunninghams. Both are your best friend with pre-sales but Cunninghams solution just looked old, almost Windows 3.1 old whereas NRS was a bit better (and the new interface roll-out should make it even better) The NRS back engine works but takes some serious setting up, the Biometric server needs to be separate from the catering DB server and although the main tills are fairly bomb proof, the "portable" tablet tills are a bit temperamental at times. After sales is a bit hit and miss, sometimes they can fix you in 5 minutes, sometimes it's easier to cancel the Readers Digest than it is to find someone who can give an answer. NRS also plays nice with TASC Insight re reporting lunchtime eating habits to parents. After 3 months of using the tills the calls have dwindled down to zero and the system works well Andrew

Morning all I've just gone through the renew wildcard certificate procedure with 123reg and have downloaded my new certificate in the usual format -----BEGIN CERTIFICATE----- lotsofletters -----END CERTIFICATE----- I see they now use Starfield instead of GlobalSign but I have Starfield listed as a trusted root and an Intermediate CA However when I install the new certificate into IIS 8.5 (windows 2012 r2) it installs fine, shows in mmc, Certificates, Personal, Certificates but disappears from view in IIS, Server name, Server Certificates I'm pretty sure I hit this once before but for the life of me I can't remember what I'm doing wrong. Any ideas? What I have noticed is the new cert doesn't have a private key which I suspect is part of the problem but I just hit the renew button in 123reg cPanel and followed the domain verification tests... Oh and no pressure, but the existing cert expires at midnight Saturday (yes I know...) Cheers Andrew

Hi After rolling out NRS Cashless Catering we are now thinking about looking at biometric registers for the sixth form. The obvious solution given we already have a biometric database with NRS is to look at their E-Registration product as theoretically most of the back engine work has already been done.... If anyone has the NRS suite could you provide any feedback, good or bad either here or via PM as to how robust E-Registration is, speed, performance etc Thinking two year groups of 160 each Thanks as always Andrew

Still banging my head with this one. All my AP's have the correct time and date, my NTP setting in the controller is right, all my proxies can happily download from ubnt.com and yet still I can't cache the new firmwares using 5.6.24 Grrrrr.....

Which Java version are you using? I'm seeing a lot of reported issues with Unifi and 8.151 but 8.144 works fine (which is what I'm staying with for the time being....)

Never seen it before this version but yes I have the same error with 5.6.22 5.6.24 has been released for testing, should be in the channel soon. I'm ignoring the error until the next version is out then I might get concerned....

I replaced my old HP Procurve 2510-G's for Unifi in the summer for a couple of reasons. The management of the 2510-g's was very clunky (the interface, not mine...) and we were starting to look at taking the backbone up to 10Gb while replacing some old OM1 fibre as part of building works For me, the change to Unifi while probably not tangible to the end users has meant I now have a wealth of management info as to what is doing what where and with the kit a fraction of the cost of other branded kit I was lucky enough to replace the entire site over the summer. If you are coming over again next month you are welcome to have a closer look at the switches and management console Andrew

Morning all. Never thought I'd be posting in this forum, its been 15 years since I last dealt with a Mac!!!!! A parent has donated a Mac to the school which is meant to have 10.6.8 installed on it. However when I switch it on all I get is this screen which to my limited knowledge looks like it's been drive wiped and not restored afterwards? As I have no disks or documentation with it is there anything I can do to rectify this or have I inherited a large shiny door stop? Cheers Andrew
