Emails not arriving...
AJWhite1970 replied to kennysarmy's topic in South West Grid for Learning (SWGfL)
Nothing that I've seen here, we use the SWGfL store and forward service to our on-site Exchange and I'm seeing the same level of moderated email requests as usual for a week day -

My new favourite page ArcGIS Web Application Zoom in on the map to see the locations of the road gritters out and about in real time and then checkout the names of said gritters I'll start you off with Gritallica, Mr Plough and Sir Salter Scott

Ho do you Send exam timetables to individual students?
AJWhite1970 replied to anne1's topic in How do you do....it?
We use TASC Insight for this, works really well. Provides a full history of results as well as upcoming mocks and summer exam entries and timetables. edit: although I see the original question was in 2012 so may have sorted this by now -
Nottingham Rail Station Fire Causes Travel Chaos - BBC News

Couldn't both of you share a lift to the City Ground...? Sorry, couldn't resist Back on thread.... -
It's because in the full client they often pop-up in the "Similar Threads" window. This thread for example suggests these long since passed away to digital heaven threads from 2005/6!! Although I might reply and see if I can still get a "I hate SIMS" t-shirt

Common practice here. All staff-student emails must be via school email only and all student use of all email distribution lists are moderated by me first but apart from that 100's of emails are exchanged a day.

It appears at present that there are no planned engineering works scheduled for BETT weekend anywhere on the TfL network!!! Keep an eye here in-case anything changes https://tfl.gov.uk/status-updates/planned-works-calendar

Do I win a prize for knowing which back of head is yours????

Sounds good, I might even put a large mocca wokka flokka coffee on expenses for you while I listen. I have a solution I've used for about 5 years, interested to see what else is out there You had a @witch hug the other week, don't be greedy...
-
Not just me then, a few years ago at BETT I threw a chair (I did ask first btw) at a Hitachi Starboard to see how robust it was. Very was the impressive answer
-
Funnily enough I was discussing how BETT had changed over the years the other day. Since it's moved to the Excel it's probably got too big for it's own good as it's very much information overload. I also feel the layout at the Excel doesn't help with the big roadblocks that are Microsoft and Google in the middle meaning being able to navigate in a sensible way up and down is much harder than at Olympia (which don't get me wrong was not exactly perfect either!!). Also I feel the really interesting small startup's get a raw deal and because of the floor plan loose a lot of foot traffic. As has been said, the shiny shiny of previous years (3d projectors, IWB's, tablets, 3d printers to name a few) has been replaced with less "visually exciting" technologies (O365 looks much like GSuite which looks much like an online MIS which looks much like an online finance system when it's being demo'd) I've been lucky in that last year and this year I had/have a shopping list (last year was cashless catering, student/parent portal and finance system, this year is biometric e-registration and remote desktop solutions) which gives me some focus walking round. I think if I was just turning up and walking round blind I would be mentally overloaded with all the stands and even the thrill of pinching a pen or 10 becomes a bit meh. However saying that I love going to BETT, meeting up with friends, talking shop with a few suppliers, making sure I'm near EduGeek about 12:30 and as it's about my only staff training of the year I make full use of being away from the office for the week
-
All the suppliers at BETT had better watch out, my OH has freed up a few days and is now coming with me and she's so good at blagging stuff from stands I'd put 50p on her getting @ICTDirect_Dave 's jacket as a souvenir!!!

Irn Bru panic as fans stockpile before recipe change
AJWhite1970 replied to DalekSec's topic in General Chat
New Coke. God that was vile but not as bad as Virgin Cola that came out roughly the same time, I wouldn't even clean the toilet with that!!! -
Hi Just bumping this thread in case there is anyone out there who missed it as this is back on the agenda for me and will be on my BETT shopping list... Thanks Andrew

[tv show] Blake's 7: 40th Anniversary Of First Broadcast
AJWhite1970 replied to 6Foot2's topic in TV & Movies
We used to run round the primary school with KitKat wrappers (the slim two finger ones) round our wrists pretending they were the Blake’s 7 teleporter devices. I’m sure you all did it, it was cool way back then. Oh. Just me then.... -
True but then although I live up the road my house is over 300 feet higher above sea level than you are down on the coast
-
Plenty about down here this morning, sent 20 brave (but well fed) souls out for a fishing match at 7.30am in driving snow. Sun came out about 11am as the temperature plummeted. They are back in now slowly defrosting...
-
There has been some very Marmite reviews for this one, the new who fans (#9 onwards) have complained it was too slow, poor confusing plot and no nasty alien Christmas threat whereas the old who fans loved it with its multiple tie-ins to the pre #9 era. Oh and women driver jokes make you a sexist pig apparently!!
-
Without giving away spoilers, I didn't catch his full name but either that soldier or one of his future relatives became a major character in the 70's.... Really enjoyed that episode, very well written and as someone old enough to have watched Doctor Who for over 40 years lots of nods to past/present/future events

Edubytes South Central Meet - Christmas 2017
AJWhite1970 replied to AJWhite1970's topic in Other Stuff
Another thoroughly enjoyable social this afternoon, thank you to those who made it and safe journeys back. I threw the idea out there during lunch but what do people think about the next social in July/August being a picnic in the cathedral grounds rather than a pub meet (British Summer permitting...) where everyone brings a plate or two and we find a quiet spot on the lawn? Or I'm happy to run it again like the usual meets. Plenty of time to discuss either here or at BETT Catch up with you all soon and @witch don't forget I owe you a lunch sooner rather than later x Andrew -

Sorry, been tied up elsewhere for a couple of days. Just to confirm that on Friday the carpark will be available from 9:30am for those of you who want to hit the shops or exhibitions early and I will be on-site about 10:30. Pub is booked for 14:00 with the usual tea and cakes in my office before and after. I’m locking up the carpark so no set end time as such. If you do park on-site early could you leave a note on the dash saying EduGeek just so I know who is who. If you haven’t confirmed you are coming yet or are now free and fancy a geek lunch out in Salisbury, let me know. See you Friday Andrew PS, the heating in the Chapel is off, you have been warned!!!
