We have Google and Youtube safe search enabled by default for all users. Youtube was restricted access but this year we have allowed access to Y7-13, so far so good, no fluffy cat falling out a window videos being watched rather than listening in advanced science...

I put an all staff email out this morning basically saying that the Windows 10 roll-out in the summer, while finished, has a few rough edges (printing being by far the roughest one....) that we are still working on. Fortunately, nothing bad enough for teachers to be unable to teach, students left unable to learn or admin staff unable to drive spreadsheets but still a long way below what I would personally consider our usual standards. Windows 10 is very much a work in progress for all of us in the industry at present with no right answers but multiple wrong ones....

Easiest way, not just for php but most things IIS, is to run the Microsoft Web Platform Installer on your IIS server and then get it to install the latest PHP https://www.microsoft.com/web/downloads/platform.aspx

Desktops in all classrooms, more robust, more serviceable, more likely to still be there in the morning. Exception are the Art department who as well as desktop PC's have iPads connected to the projector via AirServer, but they are special......

Been playing with this all day and the magic answer does appear to be as others have said above in that inside the Chrome GPO set the following:- Enable to creation of roaming copies for Google Chrome profile data = ENABLED Set user data directory = ENABLED (my path is r:\chrome\User Data) Set the roaming profile directory = ENABLED (but leave the path blank) These settings are working for me, the profile.pb is now being written to C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default whereas the cache and the user settings etc roam nicely from r:\chrome I think it was the redirecting the profile.pb to a network drive and that being locked which was causing all my problems. So far, no Chrome complaints today

Digging this thread back up as we are now in the same boat. Finance team have had enough of Tucasi/SCOPay and are looking at alternatives. I'm hearing good things about WisePay, does anyone here use that and got 5 mins to discuss either here or by PM..? Ta Andrew

I know this is a bit like asking everyone to recommend a car as there will be hundreds of different answers but I have a trolley of 30 x Intel Atom 1Gb 10" Netbooks sat rotting away in a cupboard so I was going to put LINUX on them and turn them into internet/openoffice PC's. As there are hundreds of linux desktop solutions out there, what would the collected masses recommend as a small, simple GUI OS for these devices that would be not only be student proof but also PE teacher proof...? LOL, I lured you into the dark side that day when I showed you mine I was an early UniFi adopter, jumped ship from HP before they were well known and never looked back. Currently running 45 AP’s, 15 48 port 10gb switches, 15 24 port 250w POE switches, 3 core XG-16’s, 20 cctv cameras and two nanobeam links (one running 600mb at 100m across a road, the other 250mb at 860m up to playing fields) Rock solid, apart from changing the odd port on a POE switch from 48v to 24v passive I hardly ever go near the controller, a true install and forget infrastructure

Neat tool - thanks. But I used to have a tool that was run on a windows PC/server and would query the PCI/VEN and then give the links to the latest drivers available and I can't for the life of me find it again now...
