Ok, so brain hurts with this one. I have a new wildcard domain from 123reg which I want to use in IIS but as far as I can see, they have only given me the .cer and no key to create a usable .pfx file? I know I once did something very clever in openssl when faced with this before but can't find my notes and have started going round in circles finding the solution. Can someone more clever with certificates then me (frankly not hard...) tell me what I've missed? Thanks Andrew

What are you having for Xmas dinner this year?
AJWhite1970 replied to Dos_Box's topic in General Chat
Working pretty much all of Christmas Day this year helping the OH prep several horses that are going out early on Boxing Day so will eat something out the fridge or freezer on the fly at some point during the day -
Finally saw this tonight. One or two timeline issues and the controlling toxic relationship with Paul Prenter was only hinted at until right at the end, but other than that, bloody brilliant

Before you go through that pain, have you asked TASC to tune up your copy of PARS? When Liam was on-site with me setting up PARS he ran several config scripts and access time greatly improved as a result.

Just been going through this list in my head of companies I've fallen out with at BETT and there are more than I first thought....!!

Pleasantly surprised by that episode. I didn’t think it could get any worse and then bam, there it was.... #talkingfrog

Looks like Thursday 3rd January is the popular choice so shall we pencil that in and make it official? Could one of the lovely mods change the thread title to include the date please? So next question, do we want to do another bring some food sit down in my office or walk down to the pub for a meal?

UCAS Website Super Intermittent
AJWhite1970 replied to bjohnny42's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
TBH, the UCAS site does that this time of year every year, its never been good under load at peak times.... -
As it's pouring with rain outside and I'm sat supervising a room full of cold wet miserable Lower School kids at the moment my thoughts obviously turn to Christmas and the goodwill to all beings that entails... I think the social is going to be either Thursday 3rd or Friday 4th January 2018 and with the season of cheap rail tickets about to be launched we need to make a decision. Thoughts by the end of this week and the majority rule wins? Andrew

That's good that such a stereotypical early 90's film has been remade to tell the story from the other perspective Inner thoughts "why, in the name of $diety why would you make this, do people not have planning meetings any more? Did Ghostbusters teach you nothing about gender reversal remakes...?"

Just wondering in this GDPR world we all now inhabit if there is a format in which we can put individual student university destinations on our website and prize giving booklets or is it no longer acceptable other than to say how many went to each university? Having this discussion with the Head of Sixth Form at the moment who is in "la la la I'm not listening" mode.... Cheers Andrew

Ok, found the delay. It stalls for nearly 40 minutes trying to activate.... Hoping that’s the M$ activate bug rather than I’ve stuffed anything up

Thanks for that, had a look through and tried without the offlineimage but still takes about 90 mins to go from initial reboot from WDS to login screen in Windows 10. The odd thing is this is only with 1809LTSB, my 1709 Edu image with the same answerfile takes less than 3 minutes to reboot... Out of interest, where does the logs get written as a PC reboots from WDS? The panther folder in c:\windows\system32\sysprep only has the log files for the actual sysprep running the day before when I captured the image, not the reboot from WDS. All very strange....

Not sure where this best sits, so putting it here (and assuming it's OK with posting rules etc)... I'm on the lookout for a small independent web designer who fancies being paid to design a couple of new template pages to modernise our school website. All our content and structure is good, just the generic look and feel round the edges needs a makeover and TBH I have neither the time nor the skillset to take that on as well as everything else I do. If you know someone, or are interested yourself (all above board, paid by the school etc) then drop me a PM to discuss further Thanks Andrew

Setting the lock image as a local admin user with the file on C drive does work for all users in 1809LTSC, and also as I've just discovered, survives a trip round sysprep (as does the credprovhost.dll.mui hack if you are doing that) I think my gold image is good to go, now to find a PE teacher to test it
-
So after playing with this the following does/doesn't work Use the personalization right click menu from the desktop and set a lock screen image - nope (even though it shows a preview of the image) Use a GPO and set Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Control Panel > Personalization > Force a specific default lock screen image.- nope Login locally, run gpedit.msc and set the above policy - yup (as long as the path is local) Onwards and upwards, one little step forward and several backwards

Not to mention that entire scene was copied directly from Monsters Inc.....

Hi I've successfully created a working 1809 LTSC gold image and got sysprep to run properly but when I restore the image via WDS with my answer file it takes over 90 minutes before the image gets to the login screen. In times gone by it's because I've got the .xml file wrong somewhere but in this case I can't see what the issue might be? I've tried running it through the ADK but it says that a catalogue for Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 1809 doesn't exist and won't build one without crashing.... My answer file is as follows if anyone would be kind enough to compare to theirs? -------------------- * My School My School GMT Standard Time MY-MAK-KEY en-GB en-GB en-US en-GB true true true true true Work 1 true true dwBoAaaaBjAHQAUABhAHMAcwB3AG8AcgBkAA== false Local Temp Install Account Administrators ICT3 ICT3

How does your establishment handle printing and charging?
AJWhite1970 replied to Olliesaurus's topic in How do you do....it?
We don't charge for printing but we do use PaperCut for monitoring what is happening and for keeping sensible usage limits on Lower School/Middle School printing. TBF, none of my lot abuse printing, it's mostly the girls who come in from the school up the road as their printing is so locked down up there you wouldn't believe the hoops they jump through just to print one piece of A4 whereas down here you just click "Print".... -
Where I watched it, the air con must have been up too high as we all had watering eyes near the end....

Anyone got a couple of POE injectors they don't want?
AJWhite1970 replied to witch's topic in Hardware
Read your PM before I saw your post, makes more sense now Yes, loads.... -
Watched the latest episode last night with OH (who isn't a New Who fan) and daughter (who is a New Who fan) Daughter just can't get into JW as the Doctor, unsure if it's the writing, actors, direction it's going etc but is now only watching it because it's on rather than an ardent fan. OH however, who was only watching because we were thought it was a brilliant episode and showed a period of British history that has been somewhat lost to the archives. I'm still undecided. JW just isn't Doctor'ish enough (yet) and that bloody sonic screwdriver coming out every 2 seconds is getting annoying. I don't know if it's because all of these episodes are stand-alone and the aliens are so alien to what we've had before or if it's all a massive bluff and suddenly all the episodes are going to crash together in ep9-10 I'll carry on watching for the time being...
