Yes, it will be streamed live and recorded for putting up on our YouTube channel -
It's been a very humid weekend. Went to wash my sand-coveed car on Saturday morning and came away wetter than the car got!

If any of you are familier with the series Tales From The Loop (an the books from Simon Stålenhag), then you will be pleased to know they are making his book The Eelctric State into a movie, which is due for released next year - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7766378/ This isn't an official trailer (none availble yet), but uses art from the book to give you an idea of what it will look like. Which is pretty epic tbh!

How long was that taken over? Very impressive!

Tisi week see's everyone finally back to work after the summer holidays. I know today is an inset day for most and tomorrow/Wednesday is the new year induction, but we hope you all got your summer jobs complete and are ready to face the hordes once more. Extra HobNobs and sympathy for those with more than 20 passwords to reset this week!

TBH, I have hardly ever used WordPad. Notepad, on the other hand, is an app used almost daily.

Article: EduGeek EDIT Conference - Coming to Leeds this October!
Dos_Box replied to Dos_Box's topic in Legacy CMS Comments
Many (but not all) Yorkshire regions, as well as some others such as Derbyshire (neighbouring Lincolnshire is off), are on holiday that week. My apologies, but when I checked, most areas in England are off that week. If you are at work I'm sure once you see the speakers, your schools may be a bit more leinient in letting you attend. It does seem to be mainly Yorkshire and Derbyshire in work that week, for which I apologise, but we had to pick a date. We shall be making tickets available very soon as well as letting you know all of the information you require to attend as well as our confirmed speakers. -
I've got several to see with my son lined up for the next month or so. Evangelion 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time School of rock 20th Anniversary Joker One thing I heard the other day on a podcast was that due to the writers strike, there will be a lot more reshowings of older films, so if you missed a gem on the big screen the first time round then there may be a chance to see it again. I'm just annoyed I missed Return Of The Jedi earlier this year. It wasn't very well advertised and I only found out about it later.

As other have suggested, driving them to a suitable rail connection would probably be best. Just make sure you print them out the instructions they'll need for the train/tube/connections etc. just in case. Driving in central London is hell. I've only done it three times and twice I had a police escort!

For those of you currently at work and watching the clock, do you have anything planned for this weekend? I've just spent over an hour on the M6 coming back from Warrignton to Preston, stuck in the holiday traffic. Anyway, I'm home now and on Sunday, we're off to watch this (the European Tractor Pulling Championship), which, handily, is about 20 mins away Mustn't forget to take ear defenders!

[video] New long barrow built in Wiltshire
Dos_Box replied to Dos_Box's topic in Jokes/Interweb Things
It's showing and playing for me. Can someone else have a look please? -
This must have taken a lot of money to construct, but I do like the idea of having your ashes stored there:

I'm going to see the European Tractor Pulling championship just up the road on Sunday. It's an epic day, but may need to wrap up this year. Last year was baking!

Recommend me a third-party ID Badge printing firm?
Dos_Box replied to pete's topic in How do you do....it?
We use Digital ID for our lanyards and they also do printing too, but I can't comment on that side as we don't order those. They have always been very helpful though and we've used them for years. https://www.digitalid.co.uk/ -
What's the oldest bit of kit you still have running?
Dos_Box replied to PrimaryTech's topic in General Chat
Did anyone know they were there still? -
What's the oldest bit of kit you still have running?
Dos_Box replied to PrimaryTech's topic in General Chat
I do have to wonder just how much kit I fitterd in varous schools over the years is still out there, just sat in a remote, forgotten location, doing what it was setup to do, but sending packets out to nowhere now. -

Just found an RM Slate in a box in the attic, circa 13 years old. I've just got it powered on, which isn't easy with Windows 8.1 running on a dual core Atom and 2GB RAM! I can't get the wi-fi to switch on in Windows and the rubberised edge coating has started to degrade and go tacky. Now I want to see if I can't get it back up to speed with updates etc. Oh, and it only takes 32 bit Windows and the RAM is non-upgradable. -
Not going to be much help here, but I had the same thing some years ago where it simply defaulted the profile each time I rebooted. Never found out what the cause was, but yes, it's very annoying.

Sir Michael Parkinson: Chat show host dies aged 88
Dos_Box replied to 6Foot2's topic in General Chat
Agreed, between him and Wogan, they had the UK chat-show market sewn up, and all in formats that didn't leave people complaining afterwards! -
Did someone let something slip through the Windows fun removal process?
