  2. I shall be wearing mine to the conf!
  3. I've noticed this too in the past few years where you go to download a previously free version of software, only to find it's now a 'demo' piece and you now have to pay for what they used to do for free. I can totally understand their point of view on this, and especially now given the reliability of Windows, home disk cloning not being such a requirement as before. I suspect that, whilst there will always be sales for these, those of us that have been around a while will always seek out the free version where possible.
  4. It seems that those of us with Game Pass subscriptions are in for a treat - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-67080391 the deal has finally been approved!
  5. FYI: The evening social will begin at 17:30 at the Smoothwall offices and I have amended the article
  6. Went to see The Creator last night. A good film that is a mash up of Blade Runner, AI and a Simon Stålenhag book! The look and feel of it are great, but the story was pretty much on the rails predictable. This didn't stop it from being enjoyable though. It leant to being more of an action movie than serious sci-fi I felt.
  7. For the first time in many years I had to clone a hard drive M.2 SSD) the other day, and after asking around I had Macrium Reflect Free recommended to me. On visiting the site it appears they are retiring the free version and have taken it down as an option for download. Thankfully, you can still obtain it from Major Geeks and if you need this kind of software, then I would advise you grab it whilst you can! - https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/macrium_reflect_free_edition.html *It's a really good and easy to use package, and I was very impressed with it, so I'd advise you to get it to added to your toolkit. It imaged over USB C to a M.2 SSD enclosure fine, and the imaged drive booted first time
  8. Indeed, and I suspect that Xboxes with abandonware on them will become quite collectable. I wonder if we'll see a repeat of this kind of thing: *I really must get my Wii U hacked!
  9. Exactly as the thread title says, the Xbox 360 store will be shuttering its doors at the end of July next year and you will no longer be able to purchase titles - https://www.theverge.com/2023/8/17/23835636/microsoft-xbox-360-store-closure-july-2024 They are keeping some services available, such as online play, and you will still be able to play any downloaded games still It is a little vague still as to whether you will be able to download previously purchased titles to the 360 though (I think not though), but does say you can download them to an Xbox One etc. using backwards compatibility. My advice would be to fit the largest drive you need to store any online purchases you have made and get everything you can downloaded. If, like me, you have an old 360 and more than a few purchases in the store, then I would advise doing this, then putting it back into storage! 10. Does Event Viewer report anything?
  11. I'm very happy for you, it must be some relief to have that worry lifted
  12. That really is a good deal! Will have to spread the word on that one
  13. All the pretty!
  14. LOL! I bought that one for my dad last week for £40.98!
  15. There are a few B550 motherboards on there, and I may take a punt on this - https://www.amazon.co.uk/MSI-MAG-B550-TOMAHAWK-Motherboard/dp/B08B4V583Q/ref=sr_1_5?crid=CLAR6MHCNK71&keywords=b550+motherboard&psr=PDAY&qid=1696930377&s=pbdd&sprefix=b550+motherboard%2Cpbdd%2C51&sr=1-5 No Wi-Fi though, so I may hold back to see if any others get added later.
  16. Yeah, I've found that too. Hopefully I'll be able to fill my new motherboard needs in the next day or so!
  17. Just a reminder that the sale starts tomorrow If you see any good deals, then please post them up here!
  18. @ZeroHour is travelling today, but should be able to take a look later once he gets to where he's going. I've just tried too and it's bombed out for me as well.
  19. My only regret is that I didn't get a go on the Star Wars sit down cabinet. There was a big queue all the time. I'll have to go to the Arcade Club in Bury to play on it now. What a shame
  20. Did you have a good time? I had a lot of fun. My son dominated at the Doom II LAN setup. 17 Years old and a huge Doom fan. He took himself off for a chat with John Romero One thing I have noticed over the years is that the much older home computers such as ZX81's, ZX Spectrums and 1st Gen C64's are starting to disappear from the computers you can play on, which is a shame, but very understandable as they are getting on quite a bit now and break easily. I also liked the lass who was working the check-in who was telling all the kids not to play the newer stuff, which they may not get chance to again. All in all, we had a great time on Saturday
  21. I'd forgotten all about picked onion crisps! Great to add to sarnies
  22. An indicator of a global Worcester sauce shortage perhaps? I shall have to start rationing mine!
  23. I have visions of you carrying around a bottle of WS, just in case you fancied a savoury snack!
  24. I take it modern tastes have removed it from the line-up? It wasn't one I'd go for anyway. It's gone to join hedgehog flavoured crisps in the great 'flavours that should have never been thought up in the pub' bin.
