Anyone else going to the Play Expo Blackpool 2023?
Dos_Box replied to Dos_Box's topic in General Chat
Anyone else going? It's going to be a lovely day tomorrow, and I should be there from about midday, so we don't have to queue to get in -

Amazon is to launch the first Project Kuiper satellites in its rivel to Starlink today - https://www.theregister.com/2023/10/05/project_kuiper_amazon/ I wonder if they'll do a discount for Prime subscribers?

Spate of laptops where two-finger-scrolling vanishing?
Dos_Box replied to Garacesh's topic in Windows 11
Weren't some trackpads supposed to use the Windows drivers now? My old Dell XPS 13 had many issues when Windows 10 was released which were down to the Synaptics drivers not working correctly with Win 10. Ah! This may be of help - https://www.howtogeek.com/325347/how-to-enable-microsofts-precision-touchpad-drivers-on-your-laptop/ IIRC, my trackpad symptoms were random jaggy movement of the cursor and gestures only working when they felt like it. -
And there was me just cancelling my Netflix subscription because they had nothing worth watching on! ETA: And it's a cinema release first?

Another vote for the Dell Outlet for me. I always take a look there first when people ask me for advice on an affordable new laptop.

I wonder if the NT could take the wood and make keyrings etc. out of it and sell for a fundraiser? I once had a keyring made from the old ships timbers of HMS Victory. I'm sure it would be very successful. -
**BUMP** If you do have any special dietary requirments and wish to attend then please do so by 4pm today as we have to get the catering order in to the venue after that (they have a long lead time for catering). Tickets will still be available after this but the special dietary option will be removed from the booking options. So don't miss out and get your ticket today

Just booked my tickets for my son and I (for Saturday) and wonder if anyone else is going? I hope they have stands selling posters and prints as they seem to have dropped off in the past coupel of years. And John Romero is back! I got to have a very nice chat with him about the first games we played as kids (I was wearing an Elite t-shirt) last year and my son got a signed Doom poster (he's a big Doom fan, which is nice).

Ta, there's not a lot on my 'must watch' list atm, but I'll add that one. Been a while since we had a good fun spy movie.

FYI, we now have NYNet confirmed as our final speaker. They will be talking about the LoRaWAN and how you can use this technology to manage IoT devices such as air quality dectectors, gate\door access and energy monitors etc. We'll be getting a full list of talks up next week -
If you want to come to our EDIt 2023 conference in Leeds next month and have not yet booked your free ticket and have special dietary requirements (allergies, vegan etc.) we ask that you please book your ticket now, as we have to get our catering instructions in very soon (they have a long lead time for this). If you do not, then there may not be enough of the various food types to accomodate you. There is a restaurant in the Royal Armouries, but we think you'd be happier enjoying free food with everyone else! You can find out all the details and a link to the tickets here - https://edugeek.me/article/723

@EStudd I don't think you have given enough information there, we'd need to know what system are you using, and you are definately in the wrong forum I suspect. I'll move this to the MIS forum now.

We are pleased to welcome @Sephiroth to our moderation team. May the gods of StopForumSpam smile upon you and may your ban hammmer be wielded with wisdom

Yeah, it didn't need that at all, it was good enough as is.

We usually do that for stand staff (we used to use a single email for their registration) but I think I got caught as I have to use my work one for the online manual (the control panel that tells you what steps you have to take to exhibit and order items such as internet, electrics etc.) and they used that the first year they ran the show (2020). They now insist on a unique email for every member of staff too.

This is very good, AI generated, but what Star Wars would have looked like had it been made in 1923 Again, note the NSFW.
-
I get a colossal amount of spam from companies that I can only assume have got my details from BETT due to them all being in the EdTech realm. This started after the current show owners took over the running of BETT. It seems that even if you pay to exhibit, you'll still be sold!

It seems that Amazon are to have another couple of days of offers for Prime customers on the 10-11th October. Hopefully there will be some good B550 motherbord deals on as many outlets are now heavily discounting AM4 CPU's and motherboards. And another 16GB RAM might not go amiss as well. Prices for DDR4 RAM are dropping (again, it's the last gen kit being cleared off the shelves). Saying that, it could just be two days of dog hair dryers and third rate gamepads! >> Click here to subscribe to this thread <<

There is Premier Inn 2 mins from the SW office as well as quite a few other more budget friendly options. It may be we are shifting hotels too because of this (I listed that hotel before the evening event was on the cards). -
It looks like in the intervening 6 years, it has been 'moved'. It may still be lurking out there somewhere!
