  1. I think we've all been there!
  2. We finished watching that last week, it was 'ok' but could have been a lot better I feel. We are now watching Love and Death on the ITVX player and it's quite good. It's based on a true story and we are only two episodes in (it's a slow burn) but it's really kind of compelling and the characters and situation are being setup wonderfully.
  3. How old is the PSU? The standoff advice would have been the starting point I would have looked at, but it's not unknown for an older PSU to just throw in the towel in a new setup. As @Davit2005 suggested, you could have a faulty power switch. Try disconnecting the motherboard power jumper and shorting the contacts to power it on. Oh, and I accept no responsibility whatsover should this go wrong! I would also try turning off the PSU power switch and holding down the power button to drain the charge from the motherboard. The process of elimination troubleshooting this could be very long.
  4. What a good innings! He was a staple of cinema and TV when I was growing up. It is sad he is gone, but he did leave a mark on my childhood in his work and I'll lways remember him for that.
  5. Was it thrown under a train?!
  6. I still have red admiral butterflies in my garden. I suspect that they shall be gone very soon. And I've had flocks of martens and swallows flying south past my home office window all week but they seem to have possibly all gone now.
  7. 'Can you make it work? I have a class in 10 mins....' Been there, as I'm sure many of us have
  8. 'And you're sure you hadn't knocked it on anything?' That is quite a fall it had and very surprised it's functioning as a corcer impact usually breaks everything!
  9. This little snippet came across my newsfeed this morning I knew it was 'in progress' but seems it is now ready to become law - https://www.gov.uk/government/news/britain-makes-internet-safer-as-online-safety-bill-finished-and-ready-to-become-law You can find out more and download the bill here - https://bills.parliament.uk/bills/3137 I'll have to have a good look to see what they may have sneaked in there.
  10. I may just do that as it's a very, very good museum, and see if you can't find the (genuine) M41A Pulse Rifle from Aliens that they have tucked away in a corner. It's free admission, so well worth it.
  11. I finished season 2 of Foundation last week, and was very impressed. I can't wait for season 3 (it's already written apparently), but until the writers/actors strike is over they won't be announcing details of a renewal.
  12. I was at a event\lecture at UCLAN last night where one of their senior staff was presenting, this would also be his last talk prior to his retirement. The guy is an expert on the planet Mars and prior to his (excellent) talk they had a small exhibition of the things the physics department via the Jeremiah Horrocks Insitute at UCLAN do. As part of the show they had a 6.5 meter Saturn V rocket model made from paper and card! Apparently it took one person 1000 hours to construct, which works out at about 28.5 working weeks! It turns out that you can download the plans for this (I'm still trying to find the massive plans!), but if your school wants some projects to build similar (and smaller), then there are free downloadable plans a plenty on the net. Just make sure you have plenty of ink and paper in! https://creativepark.canon/en/contents/CNT-0024531/index.html https://www.instructables.com/Print-and-Assemble-the-Saturn-V-Moon-Rocket-196-Sc/ I'll post up the link to the BIG one if I can track it down!
  13. Thanks for all your help over the years Sarah, and we all hope you have a very happy retirement
  14. I've just had a little dicky-bird tell me that Wonde will be making the access control feature in the Wonde Basic product permanetly available, and at no cost for schools. Apparently there was some problem where it looked like they would be changing it, but this would then make them the data controller and not the school, which means...well, you can fill in the blanks.
  15. Rig the app?
  16. **BUMP** In case any of you missed the tickets going live last week!
  17. As above. He hits the big 40 today. It's all mustard cords and check shirts from here on in
  18. I would clean mine every couple of weeks or so. Mainly to keep the dirt levels down and the waterproofing up. Never so often as it would stand out though. Saying that, when I was in high school I badgered my parents for a pair of Doc Marten shoes, which I eventually got, on the proviso that I kept them clean, which I did every day. Shame I had a growth spurt not long after!
  19. Yes, it will be streamed live and then once we get back in the office, the talks will be uploaded to our YouTube channel with the webinars and past confs: https://www.youtube.com/@edugeek
  20. No problem Tony, given the waiting lists atm it's best to take what you have confirmed I think.
  21. Whilst they are at it, they should also check the price of the thing they are selling compared to what you can buy new. I have noticed that many retailers are now slashing the prices of AM4 kit (cpu's and motherboards etc.) The amount of people trying to sell their previously high end parts are often close (and sometimes over) the retail price now. If you have an AM4 based setup and don't want to fork out for AM5 just yet, then now is the ideal time to get a cheap upgrade route! <\rant>
  22. Tickets are now available for general release. And thank you to all that had pre-regsitered Please see the registration section in the main article for the link to our Eventbrite page.

  24. Hi Simon, I've sent you an email (don't worry, we hadn't forgotten you).
