  1. and its payday tomorrow, SIM games are my weakness...... and its available for Mac/Linux too so i cannot go o well not supported on my platform.
  2. I'm scared to buy it as i just spent the WHOLE of the weekend just gone playing Sim City 5/2013 again now its less buggy, i don't think i would move away from a computer screen if i buy Cities.
  3. That was all day yesterday Problem I'm finding now is everyone has different ways of doing things and I'm having to flip tutorial authors on youtube to achieve different things. Such as one tutorial was using sql and another sqli and i did not notice it until unixman pointed out i should be using sqli .
  4. It works now, was the lowercase POST. I hope one day this will all just come naturally. I have been racking my brain over this all morning.
  5. Hmm got a little further, i added <?php print ("$searchq");?> To the end so i could see on screen what it thinks is in the text box and its always blank, so thats why its return all rows from the table as its searching for "". So its got to be something wrong with this part if(isset($_POST['search'])) { $searchq = $_post['search']; or the Form part at the bottom.
  6. Always wanted to learn getting PHP and SQL talking together, so given it a bit of time this week. Now I'm a little stuck...... Can anybody tell me what i am doing wrong with the %$searchq% part on the SELECT statement? Its a simple box, you type in your query into the text box, i.e. Period 4 and it should list all the rows that match Period 4, but its instead returning ALL rows. If i change the code on the select statement from %$searchq% to say Period 4 it returns just the ones matching Period 4. So im not sure whats wrong, why it does not like it being typed in the box. mysql_connect("localhost","root","root") or die ("Could not connect to server!!"); mysql_select_db("testdata") or die ("could not find db"); $output = ''; //collect if(isset($_POST['search'])) { $searchq = $_post['search']; $searchq = preg_replace("#[^0-9a-z]#i", "", $searchq); $query = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM oncallinfo WHERE period LIKE '%$searchq%'") or die ("could not search!"); $count = mysql_num_rows($query); if($count == 0) { $output = 'There was no search results!'; }else{ while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($query)) { $periodname = $row['period']; $infoname = $row ['info']; $id = $row['infoid']; $output .= '' .$periodname. ' '.$infoname.''; } } } ?> </pre><form action="oncallinfo.php" method="post"> </form><br><b
  7. No , we got annoyed one too many times with the LEA Internet connection and when it started to effect the Head/Deputy heads i was allowed to get a leased line in from else where and now we control the gate to our network. 4 Years on still one of the best things we did.
  8. If they are not designed to be used as part of a network why do the come with TCP/IP and WiFI support?
  9. I don't get it, i laugh at very wrong things, sick even by some peoples standards, but this i just don't find funny, its not even accurate. It has a USB - C port...... Its just not funny.
  10. You work hard, you can justify treating your self. If you find you really don't have a need for it you can sell it after a few months and still get back 75% of its value.
  11. Thats work, you need a personal device.
  12. Buy it! buy it! buy it! buy it!
  13. I was really liking the look of the new Macbook until i found the Apple logo does not glow on the lid, i love lights so that part for me is really disappointing. I still might get one as they are impressive, but after finding out the Apple watch i had my eye on has a price tag of £899 the Macbook will have to wait until later in the year.
  14. The kind of use to, we have an eMac in school, the e being for Education and its got Mac OS X on it so its from 2000 onwards.
  15. You could just join it to the domain, takes all of 2 minutes. Then create him a few aliases to network shares. Simple done. When at home log on locally like its his own mac, when in school logon with domain user so he/she can access shares without being prompted for credentials. or just create aliases on his mac and just tell him to enter username and password when prompted. Either way i would set com.apple.desktopservices DSDontWriteNetworkStores true so the Mac does not write random files over your shared areas. Either way a hassle free 5 minute job.
  16. Go for a walk on your lunch break? I go off for 40 minutes, headphones on in my own little world. Gives you a break from the screen too.
  17. I saw black and blue, but others in the office said it was white and gold, so i opened up photoshop and used the colour dropper, dropped it on where they said it was white and its blue and they admitted defeat.
  18. Our Bursar was still using that until 2 years ago when he retired. Only machine in the whole school that had it on and he got it from a magazine in the late 90s.
  19. Quackers

    Mac AD binding

Is the time on the client the same as on your DC's?
  20. Its not really calling for reform AFTER the NPE beats them, they have been calling for reform for ages.
  21. We use Ruckus with heavy AirPlay use. (Every classroom) Plus we have a 1:1 device deployment is Years 9,10 & 11. Normally 300-450 users on at any one point spread over 50 AP's. It performs well. The Apple TV's are wired in not using the wireless, but the teachers MacBooks and iPads are using the Ruckus wireless to Airplay. My only annoyance with Ruckus and its a big one is the Zone Director software. We had it all running great back in 2011 with the 7363 AP's, and when they bring out a new model you have to upgrade the software on the director to support the new APs which you can only get if you have a support contract. Add to that i am led to believe the version I'm on now is the last one to support our only 4 year old AP's and i will have to change them all if i want newer APs in the future because newer APs will require the new software which won't support the older AP's.
  22. Mini Metro is their website, you can also take it for a spin using unity web player. Its very basic looking but don't be fooled the game play is great and its always a case of just 1 more go to try and beat your best score. Its still beta, £4.99 on steam for PC/Mac but once it goes out of beta it will be available on the iOS & Android too they say. 2441 is my best on the London Map
  23. I would always lean towards Panasonic or LG. Panasonic if you want quality above anything else, LG if you want a few more toys on the TV. Also i would always get a surround system to go with them if its the main TV, as TVs are so thin now the sound aint that great, with things like Viera Link you only need 1 remote instead of 1 for the TV and 1 for the Amp.
  24. Yeah i got it sorted, its being used by a couple of classes, once again Microsoft screwed us! Just was we got it setup OneNote for Mac had an update and no longer works with educational accounts, says we are not licensed when you try to activate it. So those staff that are using it can only access it on OneNote for iPad or Web browser (a bug which i have raised more than once with MS now but never seems to get anywhere). ICTPro, i cannot remember step 11, but i installed it on our Office 365 share point and it was fairly painless, are you installing it on a local server?
  25. Mini Metro (its like a London Underground simulator) , steam says i've played it for 90 hours now, i think I'm addicted.
