  1. Wonder Why, is some scandal about to rock the Catholic Church to it's foundations, maybe NASA is about to announce something that will hit religion hard? Interesting
  2. Hi all, About to start looking into upgrading our network to Windows 7 and Server 2008 from XP/2003, does anyone one have their project plan file they would be willing to share, would be a big help to me. Thanks
  3. I would just buy a crimper, cable clippers, Punchdown tool, Cyclops, bag of RJ45's and a cable tester, all you need really. The pack from screwfix is not bad.
  4. This day just gets better! Cheers

  8. Get a Drill, a large drill bit and let havoc commence! That's what I would do anyway.

  10. We did use Insight for about 2 years, but now we have SIMS integration through Moodle, all we did was notify PCC that the server needed an external IP so people could access it and let their firewall protect it, we do use TMG 2010 on the curriculum network but only to add an extra layer of content filtering .
  11. I have forgotten how to unlock the front control panel on a CP1515n, I need to factory reset the printer Checking the manual and net but could find nothing, there is not even an option in the web interface, but I know I set it at some point. Anyone know, it's driving me nuts!
  12. Most of the companies listed here only seem to accept original cartridges, anyone know of a company that will take compats no quibble.
  13. Pupils at our school are trying to access https://wex.s-cool.co.uk/learner for work experience the trouble is TMG for some reason blocks it. IT works fine on teachers machines who do not go through the TMG, they use the LEA proxy. I tried turning off the category blocking rules, nothing. I added a new rule explicitly allowing the website, nothing, if I run the troubleshooter using a pupil account and it says it's allowed. When you go to the site it loads but loads blank as if it is stripping out all the code on the page. Any ideas?
  14. Our head of IT said she did not want any programming software as students should learn that in college and Uni, so she is sticking with teaching office and animated gif's for animation in fireworks. Sad isn't it, that person is in charge of developing young minds.
  15. When printing student attendance it displays the student name in SIMS.net but when you click print in the web window that opens the student name is no longer there, this has only just started happening recently Any ideas or is it just a side effect of a recent update? Version: 7.146 Build: 42 Thanks
  16. On the same basis as your argument if you make a mistake you do not risk being stabbed or shot, they do so it works both ways, also while we are on the subject are you expecting the police to take a medical history before tasering someone? "Wait there criminal I am going to taser you as you have a sword, now before I do sir do you have any medical conditions I should be aware of?" absolute pathetic liberal claptrap, that is why this country has gone to pot.
  17. I have ended up with blank fields for first name and surname in the general tabs for users in AD, the display name is filled in as Joe Bloggs anyone know how to script a way in AD to take the display name for certain UO's and fill in the first name and last name section of the general tabs from this? I don't fancy sitting and typing it in for each user.
  18. He was also told to stop by the police officer and if they are armed they have to announce that fact, but ignored it, he is probably not blind more partially sighted, we know how the press like to beef up a story.
  19. Does anyone know if you have to charge VAT on USB sticks if you buy thm in then sell them on to pupils at a slight profit? I would have thought we would have to price them with VAT. Thanks

  23. Wow some of those point you raised there are utter utter rubbish: pedagogy - if your school ethos is about command and control/petrol pump attendant style of teaching, go with the familiar PCs; if your school ethos is guided discovery, Q&A, feedback, inclusive teaching, creative thinking, go iPads. You are only cool and forward thinking as educators if you use iPad, tosh, seems like you maybe caught up in the apple marketing hype!
  24. I was thinking it can display school info, contact details maybe even timetables, students parent selects year group etc and it displays their timetable, I am just throwing ideas out there Link it to twitter feed so info pops up
