I ran the batch file as start up on a computer policy but it didn't seem to run, no file was created, if I just run the batch file while logged in as admin it works and everything is dandy. Does not seem to want to run at start up though

I have a KMS server running, some of my client machines activate fine off of it and other do not seem to activate. We delegate permission to staff to change passwords and use "password control" to allow staff to change passwords, it's great no more hassle changing passwords for student and less disruption for the teacher as pupils do not need to leave the class.

It puts the proxy details I want in but does not tick the use a proxy for your LAN box, so I suppose the question is what would stop that box being ticked, I have used the GPP method and the registry method, both put the details in but none tick the all important use a proxy box. It is really doing my head in.

I don't get the option in GPP for I.E 9, 8 is the highest it shows.

Applied all those and still no joy. When using the Registry method it insets the proxy address fine, but ProxyEnable does not tick the box

I have tried GPP but it only shows I.E 8 nothing for I.E 9 but the settings do not apply. I have set up a WPAD file on my Ruckus Box and set up a DNS pointer but still no joy, very annoying, something that worked flawlessly on XP and 2003 now being a PITA.

Hi all, I am having a nightmare with 2 options that are stopping me from completing my Windows 7 roll-out. I can not get the proxy settings to set in I.E 9 no matter what I try, I have tried all the suggestions in the other threads and the closest I get to getting them in is using the registry setting, the exceptions all set, the proxy address sets but it does not set the tick in the box for "use a proxy server for your LAN2. If I use Internet Explorer Maintenance nothing gets put in for proxy, yet it applies all the other options such as links and favorites. Settings injected using registry under preferences: "ProxyEnable"=dword:00000001 "ProxyServer"="http://ProxyServername:80" "ProxyOverride"="" If I had any hair I would be pulling it out as it makes no sense! My second part is deploying printers using preferences and Item level targeting, everything works fine here apart from "set as default printer". The policy puts the correct printers on the machine based on OU but does not set the printer I ticked to be default, it just defaults to Adobe PDF. GP result shows no errors other than Event ID 1085 "Windows failed to apply Folder Redirection policy" which I do not understand as my folders are redirecting fine. Any help advise would be greatly received.

If you have DHCP on a different server you should take out option 60 as from what I read that tells the client that the DHCP server is the PXE server. I had the same problem yesterday but everything was on the same subnet, in the end I plugged the clients into a switch off a wall socket and they connected, it was crazy.

I searched through the web and found a page that said try plugging the laptop into a switch and not the wall socket. You could have knocked me down with a feather but damn it worked!! Crazy, that's my mind blown for the day.

A300 fixed, bios update, thanks for that! So no just stuck wit the A200 which has the error described above.

I have a Sat Pro A200 and A300 both of which will not PXE. The A300 does not seem to have a PXE option in the bios which is weird. The A200 tries to PXE but just claims that "no DHCP or proxyDHCP offers were received". All my other laptops have booted fine into WDS, Samsung Dell and HP, just these damn Toshiba ones. Anyone had any experience with this or offer any advice? Thanks

I had a white line over my dropped kerb and some annoying people down the road kept parking on the markings between mine and my next door neighbor's drive overhanging my dropped kerb. I called the council and the sent a van round who subsequently ticketed them for obstruction at a cost of £60. They have not parked there since. They did say though that if I park there and someone complained they can ticket me as well.

With Dance, Drama, Music Technology and Photography taking off in the school, not to mention the requirement for departments to take large amounts of photos and videos on trips, I am struggling to back up the vast amount of data being generated. What solutions have you ladies and gents had to put in place to: A. Store this data B. Back up this data on a regular basis. Storage nightmare!

Anyone know the legality of looking at a pupils Facebook to print of evidence of unacceptable behavior using the Facebook account of another pupil if you have permission from that pupil to use it? Thanks

I thought that when you add a 2008 DC to a 2003 Forest you have to upgrade the other DC in the forest within a certain time frame, or is this me just making wild things up.

The current 2003 PDC is on hardware I want to re-use so my idea was to set up a 2008 R2 DC on a VM let AD replicate Transfer the Fismo Roles and and then when the summer break starts wipe the 2003 DC and and fresh install 2008. What I didn't want to happen is find that by doing this my current running of the network would screw up

Sorry to jump on this thread, I am moving to 2008 R2 in the summer with Win 7, I was hoping to add a 2008 R2 domain controller early to the network t run alongside my 2003 R2 DC's and allow replication of AD to take place then upgrade the 2003 DCs when the pupils go off for the summer. Is there any considerations I should take into account doing this now and any impact on the 2003 R2 network I should plan for? Clients at the moment are all XP.

We have 900 pupils and 130 staff I have managed to get my toner budget down to £5k pa and £1k on printers, just bought 5 HP X451's to replace more expensive LaserJets. Fast prints lower running costs and TCO.
