Thanks - so the purpose of the gpo entries are.......?

I have installed classic shell and configured some gpo options. I have set control panel, printers and pc settings to enabled, lock to this setting but leaving the tick box unchecked. However when I log on I still get the menu items as shown below. Can anyone help? Thanks

I mean when the users logon and go to Start, all Progams, Classic shell is listed in there, in the programs list.

Hi Once the classic shell is deployed to the PCs do you have to delete the 'Classic Shell' entry out of the start menu so the users don't see it? Thanks.

I've had a win 10 education machine running here for a few weeks for testing of policies, software etc and all of a sudden the start menu no longer loads either as a local user or network user. This is with the updated release.

Well that is just it, depending on the Subject. The rules don't state whether or not they can, so I say they can't but the teacher says they can..!

So they should only have access to a network drive which contains the files necessary for the controlled assessment and teachers have asked if they would be able to access their classwork but I assumed that this isn't allowed either...is that right?

Hi We've got some upcoming IT controlled assessments using Python. The rules state that the students must NOT have internet access which isn't an issue as we can disable it. However, do they need a separate login so they CANNOT access their own user space and network drives, as this will have their day to day work in? Thanks.

What device do you want to access using? We use Reggie - it downloads a copy of your registers and photos. You mark them as present or absent, then when it re-connects to the internet it will update the SIMS DB

Hi I've set up several iPads using Apple Configurator. Is there a way to back up the entire configuration and restore to another mac so that I can connect the iPads to the second machine to manage? Found a few articles online but not an accurate method. Anyone else done this, and if so how? I'm running the latest OS el Capitan. Thanks.

I have a laptop which has an issue - several minutes after boot up the laptop goes into overdrive on CPU usage for lsass.exe and the laptop fan is constantly running due to the usage. If I reboot, the system stays idle for a few minutes at 99% idle but then rockets up on the LSASS process. I've looked into process explorer and find the attached below but not really sure what to do as cannot really find any suggestions as to how to resolve the issue. It seems to be !RtlUserThreadStart running multiple times. I even did a clean install of windows and all the latest system drivers but the issue returned so I know that it isn't malware related etc. Anyone who can help me out on this? Thanks in advance.

For those of you storing in the cloud what do you do about recovery - say if someone overwrote a file and needed to restore from the day before or a month ago?

Hi We've had some Hikvision HD IP cameras and NVRs installed for some time and had the PTZ cameras either on static location or roaming. I have now set a schedule so that during certain hours it will stay on a particular preset and then resume it's patrol outside these hours. However, during the preset time I want to enable intrusion detection so that whilst the camera is stationary it will email me if motion/intrusion is detected. When I go to save the intrusion detection it comes up with" The Smart Event detection and the recording cannot be enabled at the same time, please disable the recording first." Can someone put this in English please as sounds confusing as to what to do! I still want the camera to be recording all the time during the static PTZ location, but email me on movement. Anyone else got a hikvision setup and can help me out? Thanks in advance.

The owner of each users top folder is the local server\administrators but the files inside vary to either that or the user's name depending on which users folder I check.

it is Disk Quota. Even for my own home directory where I've created every file, quota manager says I have only used 2.98MB but whole user space is 19GB As for FSRM quotas If I point it to the top level folder of all the users inside, is it still possible to set quotas for each user as I only want to restrict those with masses of data.

Hi I've had Disk Quotas enabled on a server for some time but always been set as unrestricted. When viewing the quota information I have 2 things i'm not sure of: Some users are duplicated twice and with different quotas used. Secondly, for some reason for some users the amount doesn't add up to what they have used when you view the folder properties. Any ideas?

Half way here - critical servers are Physical - Management and update servers are Virtual with the odd few latest servers being virtual. DC , Exchange and SIMS will always be physical as all storage is local - no SANs

That will be why then as we are still on 15.2. Once the server is upgraded does the Papercut XOA have to be re-deployed to update the version of the app on the MFPs?

What version of Papercut MF are you on and the version of the Papercut Software running on the MFP?

We are using PaperCut MF with Samsung MFPs We ditched the AD login and use PIN numbers - only niggle is that you cannot set the login screen to default to numbers so a press of the text/number key to enter their pin, then get list of printers. Only other annoyance is you have to go through the ;use copier functions and get to the main screen before you can log out (or wait for it to time out).

I already have RADIUS set up for switch authentication to login in to manage the switches so might already be half way there? All switches are Layer 3 D-Link kit.

Whilst it's not quite the same I've still got some servers running that are 11 years old! Whilst they're not up to spec for production purposes they make good backup servers!

Why not use PSEXEC? I run a daily script file using task scheduler which shuts down the PCS. If one of offline or unreachable it will skip it after 5 seconds and go on to the next one. We don't have many PC name changes so hardly have to update the list only when new additions to add to the computer list.
