  1. No, we are purely D-Link, however it does support the tftp download command.
  2. Hi I usually open a telnet session to an IP then manually copy and paste commands to download a copy of the configuration (i.e switches) as a backup. Generally I do this manually for each switch IP, so looking to automate this. is it possible to write a script that will ask me for the IP, take that IP and open a telnet session, login with the username and password, then run the command to download the script? If so, would appreciate any scripting gurus that can help . Thanks.
  3. I would say it is more likely a server thing, as the client works 100% fine connecting to other external desktops via RDP over the internet. Just odd that its fine for other schools and they have asked me to look into it, to see if I can resolve it..
  4. Interesting I believe it is only an issue with the PSF but as both us and another school are accessing via the same RDP icon - all bar the username and password, I'm not sure why it would not happen with them, but does to us. I've never experienced this when using RDP internally, and I even RDP into my home network and can minimise and restore the session and it is there instantly, so got to be something to do with between us and PSF.
  5. Hi We are using RDP to connect to PSF in the cloud as a client. When logged in, the window is minimised when wanting to switch to another application. However, when you click on the remote desktop connection at the bottom to bring it back up, we get the reconnecting message. There should be a way to disable this so it comes back up straight away. Has anyone done this? If so, how. The session doesn't disconnect, just takes the 1st attempt to show the screen again. screenshot below. Thanks in advance
  6. We have the same tower UPS units Batteries are almost 6 years old but still passing self test each week, guess they will need replacing soon.
  7. Use all the available server tools you have to monitor for issues. BAD memory maybe? I once had a HP ML350 G5 server which did exactly that, randomly reboot without warning and it was the staff server. Turned out to be a firmware update missing on the power controller, once updated issue was resolved and now it runs without any issues.
  8. Check you have followed the install instructions correctly for setting the folder and IIS permissions. I;ve had similar issues in the past and it was down to the application pool settings so I had to create a new one and assign that one to the site.
  9. We run papercut - in the logon script I just pointed to the .exe file and it runs when the user logs in automatically. However, several months ago I just change the location to the cached version and it copies the program to the local C:\ drive and it runs the app from there avoiding the need to pull over the network each time. There shouldn't be any need to physically deploy/install the software on clients, as the cache version works find on our laptops.
  10. I've run several domains off a single exchange server several times, I have just done it now as we have changed names. Just purchase a new domain from 123reg or some other provider, point the MX records to your exchange server's external IP, add the new domain on the server as an accepted domain then update your policy to include the new domain. You can only set one as primary (return email address) but it means that the users can receive on both email addresses to the same inbox.
  11. Exchange 2012?? That should be 2010, 2013 or 2016 !
  12. Tick box is enabled for 'clipboard'within the remote app sessions. For the server policy would it be changed via the local gpedit.msc and if so where?
  13. I have a 2012 R2 install running remoteapp with several apps successfully. I have created a new app linked to explorer.exe which allows me to open and explorer window with all the network drives, same as would be seen when logged on within the school. However, once this window is open, I can copy folders but when I try to paste to my own desktop, the paste option isn't available. What could be missing to allow this option to copy and paste? Thanks,
  14. Hi Does anyone know if it possible to download folders from within HAP, or can it only download single files? This seems to be a request and if it can, would help me out hugely. Thanks.
  15. So we've used some radios for several years on the free channels without any issues . We have just been changed over to some new radios which I believe are licensed channels. Today we used them for the first time and a really weird thing happened. One of my guys had his headphones plugged into the front of his PC and our office speakers are connected to the back. When the headphones are inserted and I press the PTT button on the radio it starts playing out the office speakers. When you let go, it plays through the headphones. What could cause this??! We all had a good giggle once we worked out what was going on.
  16. Im not sure why, but to restore the correct screen, I have to physically enable the GPO item again but then choose all the options to display. then after a reboot it was back to normal.
  17. Hi So our PCs used to show domain\username when unlocking the computer. I changed the policy to show only username, which was fine, but now when a computer is locked and you do CTRl, ALT, delete all users have to re-enter BOTH their username and password. I changed the 'show user information on the lock screen back to 'not configured' forced gp update rebooted PC but it still asks for both the username and password when unlocking the PC. How do I get this to go back to asking for only the Password to unlock the PC? Thanks.
  18. Create a new SIMS report, select surname, forename and Photo fields, this will export into word where you can copy and paste etc. FREE!
  19. I have migrated through from Exchange 2000 to 2013 over the years. Always set up anew server, with new IP and new name, created new ssl certificates and new server accessed using new domain name so all separate. If you point all users to the exchange 2013 box it will proxy through to any mailboxes still on 2010. as above, once mailboxes migrated keep both boxes live, outlook will re-point to the new server. Once all moved, make sure you transfer any remaining roles to the new server. Then just shut down the old box for a while to check all is OK before decommissioning.
  20. OK - so for some reason if I add the new one into the browser as an local intranet site, it then works, but not had to do this with our old one. However, I don't seem to be able to set this in the GPO for all users. When I go to Intranet, 'sites' is greyed out.. where do I add the local site for all users?
  21. It responds with the internal IP.
  22. I didn't have to with the old one because the domain is in the proxy exceptions and in IT, the following are ticked.
  23. Basically I have changed the SSL certification from being a .lincs.sch.uk domain to a .org.uk domain but its still through an official provider (godaddy)
  24. Hi I've had an IIS site running under SSL for several years under an old Domain name . The site directory uses Windows Authentication so it checks the permissions on the folder. if the logged in user is part of the security group it open without needing to login. for anyone else, and external access it prompts for the login box. I have now changed domain names, and imported the ssl certificate and assigned to the IIS site. When I now browse to the same link I only get a login box, entering staff credentials allows the page to open, student credentials it denies. I don't know why it is now prompting rather than just opening. If I enable anonymous authentication it goes through, but with that disabled an only windows auth enabled I get prompted. Any ideas what else cause be wrong as nothing else has changed apart from the SSL certificate and change the header address in IIS for the site. Thanks.
  25. All my base images are around 25GB which include office, adobe cs6 suite and other software such as acrobat, flash, realplayer, etc. I use Acronis true image for imaging, and restoring an image takes about 7 minutes on an i7 machine, 17-20 minutes on a dual core. I then rename, join to domain, pulls down any GPO software and printers, then it's good to go.
