If the workstations are using windows 7, get them to right click on the SIMS shortcut and run as admin.

Have seen this issue alot when schools deploy releases. Quick fix is to run SIMS or FMS application setup to bring the module version inline with the database version. Might be the user permissions on the setups folder or their user profile does not have permissions to run .exe's.

Did you use SOLUS2 or SOLUS3?

Have you tried detaching and then reattaching the database?

hmm, have you tried your SA username and password? I know it sounds dumb with SIMS User Name and SIMS Password but its always worked for me.

If your looking at just creating the backup files for the SIMS and FMS you can use dbAttach that comes with SIMS. Once a backup is done it will appear in your backup folder. MSSQL10.(whatever your sims instance is)\mssql\backup

Hmm. I was planning on getting it today. I may get it but hold off installing it (shame ) From what I have seen it looks like an outstanding game and I do like city builders (ever since Ceaser 3) Just a crying shame its being let down by technical issues.

I like the idea of other players having an impact on the City that you build. I have played alot of city builders and I have found that they can lose there challenge pretty quickly once you work out the best way of building a city. With this MMO element, not only do you have to find the best way of building a city but you have to adapt tp what another player has done on another part of the map. Adds an extra challenge to keep your city alive and profitable. Plus I hope they get SIMcopter(?) back.

Recommend Centrastage. You have to install a small agent on every machine you want to remote into though so you may not be what your looking for but it has great functionality. Allows you to create packages which you can deploy to the machines that you have an agent on. Other than that Bomgar. Installs a agent when you remote on the machine and then removes it when your finished. Good functionality as well.

No way as far as I know. When adding a workstation\laptop in the SIMS channel, you can search for a workstation by its IP address. Might be worth a shot to see if the SOLUS3 console can pick them up at all. (Not sure if it only looks for IP's in the domain only) You could also try replacing the server name with the server IP in the Sims.Solus3.Agent.AgentService.exe.config file on the workstation\laptop. As soon as those agents where installed on the laptops, they should have appeared in the SOLUS3 agents. But @superfletch is right. It would be easier adding the laptops to a domain.
